At 9.56, Diane gives one of the reasons why Doug McClure is where he belongs now in the Hall of Great Western Performers, as Gary's story, cut short, also attests. Gary's horse reared up and Doug leaped on it's back and bit the horse's ear, a horse whispering technique, and calmed it down. I was part of the campaign, along with Jim Drury and Doug's daughter, Valerie, to get him inducted and was there last April when it happened and met Doug's family.
I love this show to death. Every night I watch it on DVD.. as I am now. The Heritage with Jay Silver heels just went off and I'm getting ready to put my favorite episodes in...THE LAST GRAVE OF SOCORRO AND THE PRICE OF LOVE.

I thought that might be it, I can sympathise, I had the same problem in Memphis in June. I had bought a new camera using SD cards rather than mini-DVD's, but coudn't get a spare battery here in Ireland before going to Memphis, and a friend (Whom you got on your video!) couldn't get any in San Francisco, either, before coming to Memphis. So I was limited to an hour of filming, which isn't enough to film a whole discussion panel, which usually, in Memphis at least, last about 2 hours.
I managed to get a spare 90 minute battery in Fry's in Houston after Memphis, and the girl in Fry's indicated there was a battery you could get tbat would last even longer, so I intend getting one of those for the next time! With my old camera, you had the added problem of having the change the mini DVD after an hour, with a SD card that can film 7 hours of video, that problem is solved.
