That's nothing special. Basically every country that has a good weapon platform does this. Germany is a very good example with the G3 platform or the USA with their AR-15 platform.
@@MrWasGehtSieDasAn01 but ak is the best model ever built. Same as the su-27, mig-29, (the MLRS forgot the name) BMP, RPG, first anti air RPG, Molotov a lot more
@@tovarish_kommandir No it is not. You know what AK's don't like at all? Sand and mud. Because the AK is open above the fire selector and not closed like a G3 or M4, dirt can get in very easily. By the way, the other weapon systems you mentioned are destroyed by the Ukrainians without any problems. And the molotov cocktails is not a Russian invention, as its origin has not yet been clarified.
@@MrWasGehtSieDasAn01 Well it's a war. These stuff are meant to be destroy bruh.. Nothing is invisible lile thor. That's that Russia has quantity and easy to produce. The main thing about ak is it's reliable, cheap, easy to use..... It's also easy to clean cuz it looks like it was made in grandmas basement but it's meant to be like that
Меня восхищает как американцы умеют делать презентации. Я смотрю и понимаю ,что хочу это купить и как можно быстрее! Просто шоу! Очень красиво и профессионально
Your Gorbachev did too. Even did American Capitalist themed pizza commericals. And we bought your Navy with Pepsi. Classic Communism- totally reliant on us but bitter as hell about it.
Yea noticed that. I think this in 10 mm would make more sense being a rifle. Plus side as you noted, room clearing with what appears to be 3 combat loads worth of ammo. Weight might be similar I guess.
@@glockholliday7490 There was a guy in jail on work release. We called 4 can Dan, smuggled kodiak, same premis. We tried to coerce him into bringing more.... he whined, "I already feel violated" "Takes One for the Team" whole nuther meanin.....
Nobody pays enough respect to the FUCKING INSANE intros Garand thumb lays out for us *every time* The channel without will never be the same. Thanks for the mag dumps Garand. It's fucking incredible everytime
It’s genius …. What counts as a view on RU-vid? Each time a viewer intentionally initiates the playing of a video on their device and watches for at least 30 seconds that counts as a view.
@Garand Thumb I love you man. You are possibly the single most positive influence in this entire industry. I think if more people followed your lead, there wouldn't be people that hate us for having guns.
I think it makes sense why the Russians made almost every small-arms into multiple variants of the AK. It was made so that the troops are all familiar with any type of gun for their operations...the controls at least. much like what NATO's been doing lately. almost every gun has that AR15 or AR180 type of control.
@@ГеннадийЛаннистерThat’s a matter of opinion and preference. Personally I prefer the AK controls and setup. Kalashnikov style controls are simple and there’s less that can malfunction. Check out Garand Thumbs freezing rifle test and see how horribly the AR controls hold up to those conditions while the AK does perfect.

I just want people to take a minute to appreciate just how much the production quality of this has improved. The image quality, the sound, the music, the memes. All top notch. Most impressive.
Yessir. The model I look to for my own future channels with some buddies. All profits to fight breast cancer and child traffickers. Bang bang MFs. SJD coming in hot lead by some Queens ✊🏿🇺🇲✊🏼🐉❤️🔥
@@oliverallen5324 Variants of this concept have existed pretty much since the dawn of civilization, and was a core principle that became widely spread in Western culture when the ancient Greeks, particularly the Spartans, began to practice it as not just good wartime advice but as a way of life. I imagine that even back in the days when humans were nomadic hunter-gatherers it quickly became apparent as members of each tribe began to specialize in skills and develop professions that the finest spears, bows, etc are less useful in the hands of a novice than tools of poor quality are in the hands of a highly skilled hunter or warrior. It's fascinating that no matter how far our technology has come, it is still the man that uses it that determines how effective it can be. I suspect that this will never change.
Freaking loved the intro on this one, man. Great music choice and it feels like your crew went above and beyond on the camera work this time. Also, sick-ass gun.
If you’ve ever looked up a Garand Thumb review on a gun before deciding on purchasing it, go ahead and hit the subscribe button! Love your content man, thanks for doing what you do!! 🤘🤘
Me sitting waiting for the video since the insta announcement: “Where’s the video dad? Where’s the fuckin video flannel? Admin results said you’re good for it! Where’a the fuckin video!”
AK-47: kills enemies SVD: AK but the enemies are wayyy over there AKS-74u: AK but the enemies are in your face PKM: AK but you need to go pewpewpewpew Kusa KP-9: AkS but smol
…….so are we going to ignore the fact GarandThumb failed to get his discount code to be $40 off of a purchase of $460 so that it could be $420. Not very Task Force 69 of you.
Just got a kp9 yesterday, approx 200 rounds so far. ran flawlessly! Mag prices are a bit high ($50). I would like to see a quick release for the folding brace. I believe someone makes parts to allow the bolt to stay open on last round.
My recoil guide snapped after 200 rounds...did some digging and apparently it's more common than I'd like to see. They sent a replacement assembly in a couple days. Hopefully this one holds up.
With a run-in like that by Administrative Results, Garand Thumb could easily win the GunTuber World Championship. Forgotten Weapons would never see it coming.
That's about the perfect every gun. If you could only have one, practical and reliable for most situations, seems like a perfect compromise of everything.
Put thousands through mine over the year I’ve had it! Kept it pretty bare bone as well, reliable as hell not a single malfunction. Best pcc I’ve ever had the pleasure of using! Got it for a very reasonable price as well. Even people that don’t prefer the Ak platform that have shot this loved it.
Who's got the coolest, most co-operative, all inclusive, nicest and most respectful creators and (most times) audience out there? GUNTUBERS!!! The more cross-platforming, the bigger the juggernaut it becomes. Keep it up flannel Daddy
It depends on how do you access them. And what's the intended purpose Mp5 is quite terrible all out war SMG as it's way to expensive, and do not provide significant advantage in a full scale war over PPS that's at least 10 times cheaper
@@TwixSvK Not exactly… Whilst SMGs are rather situational during modern war times, SMG rounds are smaller and less heavy than 5.45, 5.56 and 7.62 and so are the mags. This means that soldiers can carry more rounds and thus mags, this means supressing fire with SMGs can last for longer and comes with many other uses
@@maxito1214 Smaller yes, but the rounds can be pretty damn heavy depending on the loading, last I checked 9mm FMJ typically weighs a few grams more than 5.56mm FMJ.
Hey GarandThumb, I hope that you can contact the Russian "Kalashnikov concern" and ask them to arrange a visit for you to Russia, where they will let you shoot anything you want, and you will make a big video. (No, not just AK XD)

"we're gunna do what the Marines love..." *leans forward in my chair interested" "we're going to go tip to butt" damnit, you got my dumbass, that was a good one lol
It's still simple. The Russians create weapons on the AK platform, as well as the Americans create 80% of rifles and other types of weapons based on the AR-15 platform. The Germans also have G3, MP5, HK-21, HK PSG1 all on one platform, and their HK G36 MG36 on another. That is, it is clear that if the base works well and has been debugged for a long time, then why not make a weapon, especially since it is much easier than creating a weapon from scratch.
No homo-erotic comment but I just wanted to say that Baer Solutions is indeed a great option for training. Drew Estell is one of the most humble, badass dudes and he is a fantastic instructor.
If you ever wondered why every Russian weapon is a variant of the AK it is because you know nothing about Russian weapons, only about AK. AEK, AN-94, SVD, SVU, ASh-12, ADS, AS VAL, VSS, 9A-91, VSK-94, A-91. SR-3, SR-3M. All of them are Russian. Non of them is based on AK.
I had one of the first couple thousand of the Kp-9s, had some severe cycling issues, sent it back in. Turns out the bolt was out of spec, which they fixed rather quickly. If you are getting pierced primers have them check the bolt at the factory, trust me, they will fix it and fast.
Every Russian weapon is AK? 'Couse in Russia exists a necessarly soldier duty, and for them (a.k.a. srochniki) it exists. It's easier to learn a new weapon, it's easier to build a "new" weapon
I have had mine for about a year and absolutely love it. Put in a Franklin Binary trigger and run with a Witt Machine 9mm suppressor. Also added a KUSA left side charging handle with bolt hold open. A really great firearm and agree, a fantastic PCC.
@@danielaramburo7648 LOL. To be clear, it's no longer "stock" as I have swapped out components, rail, non reciprocating charging handle, etc., so I don't know the weight as delivered per the question. That said, I "can't wait" for the brace rule to drop. Based on the recent bump stock ruling, I anticipate this will be deemed unconstitutional as well. Good Times!
I was wondering if you'd ever do a vid on this. I have a two stamp KP9, it's the most fun gun I've ever owned. I did track down two clear / smoke Izhmash marked Russian military mags. And I have it full Zenitco;d.
Picked one up recently, recoil guide snapped after 200 rounds. They sent me a replacement that arrived in a few days. Hopefully this one holds up. Did some thorough digging and it seems they are having some sporadic QC issues. Just be aware. Otherwise the thing is a blast to shoot.
The recoil on the KP9 looks non existent to be honest but I’m actually waiting for my order of the KP9 to come in. I’m a big AK guy with lots of respect for the competition but man that KP9 has been my must buy since it was announced!
"Why couldn't they just adopt the MP 5 well because they are Russians, it's got to be a variant of the AK..." Love that line, by the way can this be regarded as a descendant of the PPSH?
