I was praying that Jerruh ain’t sign that fool! If he went anywhere except NE, nobody would’ve blinked an eye... he wanted NE,(since they tried to trade for him, it was Pats or bust). Now , whether or not he can handle the amount of targets...(he’s got td,catch, and performance escalators) and he’s also playing for 20millionnext year!
bioLarzen what I’m saying is, the Patriots are the ‘evil empire’ with a magnifying glass on them. People are focused on Bill B, and his history of taking on a challenging player personality... However, the Cowboys, who have a similar microscope on them, but with a much more boisterous owner, none for taking a large ‘destructive’ personality (T O) would’ve been seen as a “typical Jerry” move.
Kevin Porter well, the 20mil allows NE to lower the Cap hit, and gives NE a compensatory pick when AB signs with a different team in 2020. Also, it gives NE first rights to AB if he actually falls in line with the Patriot Way... It’s smart NFL business... Also, AB’s getting 21mil from Pittsburgh, from the trade with Oakland. The 9mil guarantee NE is a minimal drop in the bucket... If it doesn’t work out, NE cuts him, and still has Harry coming off IR after week 8...
@TheAcgtrs - you’re preaching to the choir brother ! I can only do like Stank said, just marvel at, enjoy watching, and give credit to The Dark Lord and TB12 for creating a culture that can absorb any type of personality,if said personality conforms to the team concept and just does his job!
@ the dude recorded his coaches private conversations and posted them publicly, threaten his GM and called him a cracker, through chairs out a 20 story hotel, got pulled over doing 120 in Pitt, posted his ex teammates text message publicly (juju), called the raiders organization EVIL, threatens to retire from the NFL b/c of a helmet, and celebrates losing 30 million dollar contract. AND YOU BLAME THE ORGANIZATIONS??? YOUR AN IDIOT.
If the Patriots have AB, then the Rams, or the Chiefs, or the Saints, don't. Perhaps the guy works out, perhaps he doesnt. Either way, dont let him leave, hold him to his agreement. Patriot way or suspension, and no playing for our rivals. I think it's a brilliant move. No draft picks lost, just money.
This isn't monopoly money 15 million dollars is 15 million dollars whether your a multi-billionaire or not they think this is going to work out with #84 (if he doesn't get that number and still shows up he's all in).
This is exactly why they signed him....you are the first one who hit it on the head...the move was as much about not letting this guy go to any other team that might keep the Patriots from another title ....right on the money
@@godzoookie As the Superbowl champion you think it isnt worth that money to deny KC, the one team who could potentially beat you, the best WR in the league? 15 million isnt monopoly money, unless you compare it to Superbowl money.
I think being one of 53 is going to make AB happy. He was just Antonio Brown until his third year then AB was expected to be GREAT, that would affect anyone somehow. I think he is sick of it and doesn't know how to get out of it so he self sabotages. No I am not a psychologist.
Excellent analysis! Bigtime Patriots fan here, but still appreciate your thoughts, Rich. I didn't want AB, but now hoping he can emulate the Patriots Way.
@@lukey1210 - My prayer is that Bill does keep him in check, or even better, that AB is smart enough to know that he can't screw this thing up. I really hope that AB bring nothing but production to New England.
Be honest, Rich - people are definitely more upset because it's the Pats. A lot of people are acting like the Pats are horrible for signing AB. As if another team wouldn't have signed him just as quickly given the chance. You truly believe people would have the same visceral reaction if Seattle had signed him?
He will never see that 20 million. Its the same contract Darrelle Revis got and only played a year there but won a ring. It's 9 million signing bonus spread out over the course of the year with 6 million in incentivez. 1.5 mill for 100 catches 1.5 million for 16 touchdowns 1.5 million for 1200 yards and 1.5 million spread out over 16 games for in game bonuses. Bottom line is low risk high reward. If he acts up he is gone
Except AB won’t behave like that on the Patriots, because you can’t, you behave like that on the pats, your gone, they don’t care. Bill doesn’t need AB, he’ll take him as long as he’s contributing, but Bill could cut him at the drop of a hat.
Round Robin and if you read my whole post, guess what, bill having zero patience and cutting Brown for stepping even so much as a pinkie toe out of line, is exactly what happened. He doesn’t suffer fools.
Forgot who said in a segment like this the other day: a player who secretly and illegally recorded a coach got to be a New England Patriot? A match made in heaven! Priceless :D
I understand the way he went about things were not professional, but you have to get out of your feelings. Everyone knew the patriots were one of the only teams that could take that gamble because of their winning tradition. Yes ab is immature, but their are worse character guys in the nfl. Guys with dui’s, assault records, drug problems, you also had players that were alleged killers, and killers, alleged rapists, you name it, the nfl brand has seen worse.
the thing that makes me doubt this whole "master plan" theory is how it completely hinges on the raiders actually just releasing him, when there was no obligation whatsoever for them to do that. couldnt they just have voided his guaranteed money and still kept him on the roster. alright, if you want out that bad, lets see whos gonna be willing to trade for you, and how much? was bill ready to throw some picks the raiders way in case they didnt release him? assuming he was in on it all along? theres alot of ways to fail for such an assumingly elaborate master plan, no?
Everything you said is true. It's possible AB was banking on the Raiders just trying to get out from under the 30M guaranteed free and clear. if they suspend him, there might be lengthy legal grievances over the money. It was a risk that AB could have asked for his release, and the Raiders to say "no". But it worked.
Oh please!!!!! All the crap and crazy that players carry to work everyday on other teams and you media mouths say nothing. And now your'e dissapointed with the Patriots? Come on Rich ,where is your dissapointment with the Cowboys on Hardey and the Chiefs with the bagage they have on that team. You just lost one here.
Rich I disasgree that this wasnt about the Patriots. Any other team could have signed him and no one would have been "disappointed". They arent dissappinted because AB sullied the shield. Theyre dissapointed that AB went to the Patriots. Before that everyone was just laughing at him because the Raiders arent a threat
This video makes me feel guilty for not paying more attention to Rich. Always considered his insights excellent but he gets lost in the crowd of videos RU-vid offers. In this instance, nothing else comes close to his trenchant opinion on the AB situation. Excellent.
I wonder if the Patriots were in kahoots with Brown while he was trying to get released. If so that's got to break some rule. I mean they signed him within hours. They didn't hesitate
@ I've been following football for 25 years and I've never heard any story about helmet issues. He didn't attend meetings. He was punting balls in the locker room in front of the GM. If that's not sabotage then AB is mentally deranged. The Pats wouldn't sign him if he were truly deranged. This is one epic and classless moves from BB.
What makes fans the sickest about this whole story is the fact that Brown seemengly ruined a great position by continuously acting like a total ahole - got into a worse situation, where he not only continued to act like a total ahole, but legit yanked it up several notches - and as a result got in a better situation he was before starting to malfunction as a human being. By throwing a half-a-year- long tantrum fit he improved his position. That's why most fans are sick of this. The message. And the example. People seldom like and appreciate the jerk winning at the end of the movie. And so root for this experiemnt to fail (just like the Ochocinco, Haynesworth and Tebow experiemnts failed in Foxboro), because they don't want to see the antihero win.
If anything needs to be questioned, it's how soon did the Pats contact AB or his people? If it was while he was still with the Steelers, then this whole thing was one big ploy. Get the Steelers to send you to some environment where we KNOW there's dysfunction a muck, and so it would be "expected" that things go sour enough that you get released and then the Pats have the paperwork at the ready for the instant he should be released. Bills are messy, but not to the level of the Raiders. or maybe I'm reading too far into this. We'll find out the truth within the next decade once AB retires. Probably. I don't really know though.
@Emmy Q the raiders were trying to trade ab for 3 days before releasing him, but the contract was to much. So thats how teams knew there was a chance he would become available. He signed for 21 million less with new england, what kind of master plan is that really?
This lecturing on a man making decisions and doing what he needed to do to get released from a team he didn't like because it's a dumpster fire gets old
7:55. To me that,s not disappointing. What is disappointing is them three teams they play every year and them Low down know good for noting owners. That don't know what there doing. Pats will play KC. And going right back
So tyreek hill breaks his 4 year old sons arm, beats and threatens his wife and the media calls AB the devil while Hill is an angel still allowed to play? HYPOCRISY
The tyreek Hill thing was discussed for like a month straight. This is like the 20th time that AB has done something stupid publicly, and he has always gotten away with it. If Antonio Brown would just stop being an idiot, they would stop talking about him. It's really that easy.
Hell DeAneglo Hall said he cursed out a GM before on Air!!! Its the NFL!!! You think men are one way at the top level!!!!! When everyone is rich you don't have to pull punches!!!!! you do something I don't like I'm going to tell you in my way how I feel!!! Who cares you are a man at the end of the day and you deal with the consequences, which he did. I don't feel bad for The Raiders John gruden knows that he needs players to win the GM wants to win over the press and that doesn't win you football games!!!!
Jets fan Rich is sick. Shocker.....If AB steps out of line The Patriots will clean out his locker, like that. They showed last night they're good without him.....Let's be real ,AB didn't 'win'. He costs himself 20M to get out of Oakland.
@@tysontronowicz3731 If he wins 2 superbowls (either with Patriots and/or else where) then he can make all of us doubters eat chow for as long as he live. But I just don't buy it. Giving up 15-20mil+ and btw we have no idea how "9 million guarantee from patriots" is structured, is just so very dumb.
@@reddz.k.4404 There is actually a team guarentee of 20million(so 10 if he fucks up, 20 if he doesn't), so he might not be losing any money. 20 mill on a 1 year deal, win superbowl, then go grab your next deal either with them or a new team. Also, if you look at the whole situation in context, AB is making a bet on himself being successful, and at worst the man made 9 million dollars(before tax, agent fees, ect.) I won't fault the decision. The upside of joining the patriots is way higher than staying in Oakland. Compare Randy Moss before NE and AB before NE. AB has way better legacy. He rides this out successfully, he is set. Its a gamble, but don't fault a man gambling on himself being successful, even if it doesn't work out. Who should gamble on not being as good as you think you are....
Or maybe he wanted to go there anyway because he ASKED to be traded there. Maybe the Patriots reached out to him before...it’s not that hard to see tampering
Patriots offered Pittsburgh a first round pick. for AB. The Raiders had Amari Cooper, Khalil Mack both awesome players and solid citizens and they pissed them away. No sympathy for anyone. And if AB blows up on NE no sympathy for them either, but they dump him the second he acts a fool unlike enablers like Tomlin and Gruden.

@ Patrick Lemire the minute he acts up he’s gone. They don’t run a circus show like the Steelers or raiders .
1. This move smells like NFL damage control all over it. The NFL doesn't want to go to court over the guarantees in the Raider contract. The move to NE relieves pain arguing over mm. Kinda like how former HCs get coordinator jobs so the NFL as a whole doesn't pay more than they have to for coaching. 2. Bill doesn't need Brown or Gordon to win. And he's the greatest coach of the era. And he's a serious contender for the SB. Those things somehow turn into a moderating factor to these emo (and maybe concussed?) players. That's good for the NFL too.
I bet rich eisen got used like a tool during that period of time with eisen collinsworth and belicheck. Eisen probably talked about mayock, belacheck thought eisen was a dumb liberal and took what was his. God bless antonio brown.
Either that or he’s a mad genius. If it’s true that he’s been consulting with social media experts to expedite his release, then he’s playing 4D chess while we are playing checkers.
I am such a Patriots homer and I even don’t like this! A bad precedent has been set here. AB has opened the door for any future NFL divas to behave in such a manner to get released and released from their contractual obligations so they can get to a team they want to play for at any given moment. The NFL should have a rule that if someone is released due to conduct unbecoming then they should be banned from signing with a new team the remainder of that year.
Did AB keep the signing bonus the raiders gave him? Steelers definitely get to keep the draft pics raiders traded to them.... raiders need compensation from the Pats i would say is fair.
Yeah ok buddy in your world lol prison and you brother that John gruden said he ok Ed it PROBLEM solved and Patriots suspended? Why only way another team can beat us?? Don't say philly cause GUESS U FORGOT WE DIDN'T HAVE JULIAN EDLEMAN OR DONT'E HIGHTOWER OUR DEFENSIVE CAPTAIN THINK THAY DONT MATTER JUST GO BACK TO LAST SUPERBOWL AND ATLANTA AND LET ME KNOW IF JULIAN AND HIGHTOWER DONT MAKE A DIFFERENCE

The media is so hypocrital. Seriously the crying is nauseating. Had the chiefs signed him nobody would say a word and say the chiefs didn’t need him. The browns also called about antonio brown. Imagine that. Yes the pats need him. Anything can happen with Gordon. He might not make the year. Injuries occur.
Do you honestly believe the media wouldn't say a word if he had signed with the chiefs less than 4 hours after he was released? This isn't a story because it's the Patriots, it's a story because it's Antonio Brown.
5 лет назад
It’s a non story dude. They wouldn’t have said nothing had it been the chiefs! The guy wanted out after they took away his guaranteed money. The fact that he signed with the patriots you have all these idiots crying about it.
@ the point is that there are one of two stories here: 1) Antonio Brown is mentally unstable and the Raiders couldn't handle it, so his agent called ahead to teams anticipating his release or 2) AB coordinated and tried to disrupt the Raiders in an effort to get fired and join the Pats/Chiefs/Whoever. That's a story regardless. It screams tampering
@ If you seriously don't think this is a story without the Patriots, you are either just mistaken or a Pats fan who's tired of hear that his team cheat... which has been proven to be true throughout the years. Tampering isn't even that big of a leap.

@ Vincent Derr no. More like jealous fans who can’t stand the pats success. The patriots paranoia is nauseating. The patriots are the best organization in the nfl. Deal with it! Don’t cry about it and come up with bullshit conspiracies .
