Sooo... sorry. But at that time neither a "Nepal" nor an "India" exist. Siddhattha Gotama was born in Lumbini not far from Kapilavatthu, capital of the Sakyan republic, ruled by Suddhodana, and was part of Magadha principality (kingdom). What means "follow the rules of the Buddha"? Lord Buddha never said "this is forbidden" or "you should not do that". The basic "rules" are recommendations. Therefore they are as follows: "abstaining from ... - this training rule I want to take on" (... veramani sikkhapadam samadiyami). But if you're willing to go deeper in the meaning of those "rules" you will easily understand that they are just simple advices for everybody, no matter what or who you believe in. Abstaining from killing, stealing, sexual misconduct, evil speech and intoxicating the mind. Not at all a difficult thing. :-)

@@sannabho7423 :-)) Nowadays "Nepal". In the mid-18th century, Prithvi Narayan Shah, a Gorkha king, set out to put together what would become present-day Nepal. There is a quarrel between India and Nepal regarding the Buddha's nationality. But if you like to read the ancient texts (i.e. the Pali canon) you will never see "Nepal" or "India" mentioned.

@@sannabho7423 Regarding history there is no difference between Buddhist, Hindu, Christian, Muslim - believe is not a fact. Please tell us in which sutta is "Nepal" mentioned. There is no result in the whole Tipitaka when searching for "nepal". Not even in the commentaries. Even Non-Buddhists can do easily that search. Therefore (not only) I keep that opinion that AT THE TIME OF THE HISTORICAL BUDDHA - there was neither a "Nepal" nor an "India" existing. Never heard or read anywhere that the Buddha or one of his followers claimed He was born in Nepal. Maybe I don' know the history - but I believe what is handed down to all of us in the Pali-Tipitaka.
