FYI, I love Bob Hoskins! I skipped the live action appearances of Mario (there are like 3) since I wanted to focus this video on the actors who voiced Mario.

That era of Mario was the birthday party with pizza grease slicked NES controllers being passed around the room gaming with your best friends into late in the night (aka 11pm is way past your bedtime!) that’s what that era of Mario tastes like to me!
Marc Graue who voiced Mario and Luigi in Hotel Mario, is at least a professional voice actor who knows how to do a New York accent, unlike Chris Pratt's lackluster performance
Interesting how Lou Albano is the only actor that is Actually Italian and also voices Mario. His voice and The voice in the 3rd mario Cartoon are Amazing!
@@SaiyanGamer95 I mean, that pretty much IS the second default Italian accent, and i don't think he GAVE that accent, I'm sure that's simply how Lou Albano sounds
4:03 Albano and Lauper were very good friends, in fact he appeared in the music video of Girls Just Want To Have Fun acting as her father and they also worked together in the WWF.
Well to quote Mario in responding to Luigi in the classic college humor skit "Luigi Finally Snaps" When Luigi asked Mario about that movie "I told you to never talk about that! It never happened!"
@@Sly88Frye the only thing from the 1993 movie that is Cannon is Mario an Luigi’s last names The first time the Bros were call Mario Mario and Luigi Mario is in the 1993 Movie and not originally from a game
I used to imagine Lou Albino as the voice of Mario until I played Super Mario 64 and heard Charles Martinet’s “Itsa me, Mario” and from then on that was the voice I heard.
Nicholas Glaeser voiced Mario in the MS-DOS port of Mario Is Missing. His vocal performance was unique in that he recorded his lines in both an Italian accent and a Brooklyn accent, but the game used lines from both recordings interchangeably. You essentially got a Mario who changed his accent every now and then
Kevin Afghani's voice is pretty close. Yes, he is doing a great job as the new voice of Mario, but he's still got a long way ahead IMO. Charles Martinet's portrayal of Mario will be hard to replace.
I'm glad you're giving Afghani credit where it's due. He's got big shoes to fill, but honestly I'm very confident he'll get his stride and make Mario shine in his own way. He is a good actor.
I loved your upbeat commentary here! You weren’t harsh on any of the actors and described them all with a lot of respect. Even when you criticised them, you did in a polite and humorous way. I hope many people can be inspired by your positivity and optimism, as you made several points about Kevin’s new voice that I feel the fanbase could take notes from. Great video overall!
Whenever I think of Lou Albano or Walker Boone as Mario’s voice from the DiC cartoons, I don’t just think of them as from the DiC cartoons, I also think of them as the classic/retro Mario prior to Charles Martinet, like the Mario from the 80’s or early 90’s. I imagine Mario would have both of these type of voices in the retro games on the NES and SNES. Same with Danny Wells or Tony Rosato as Luigi whenever I think of Classic/retro Luigi. Most people would think of Charles Martinet for all Mario games before and after he filled the voice roles. But to me, I think of the voices from different eras of the games.
Oh lord...when it showed the brothers diving off the springboard in Super Show, I got a childhood flashback of that exact scene. Luigi holds his nose as he takes his turn while "Workin' for a Livin'" by Huey Lewis and the News is playing. DO THE MARIO!
honestly, hearing about chris pratt being the voice of mario in the movie had me in stitches at first, but i was impressed at how *not terrible* it was. about as averagely alright as the rest of the movie.
The First Mario voice actor Is actually Harrie shore WHO voiced Mario in the live action donkey kong commerical And the live action donkey kong jr commerical those 2 were adventim in 1981 _ 1982
Anyone can do regular Mario's voice, it's incredibly iconic and well known. But I personally enjoy voice acting Hotel Mario, the voices are so goofy but fun to do.
When I saw Mario's animated interview in Sport Mix, there was no way. Charles is THE Mario's voice actor and I will never forgive Nintendo for not having Mario speak more while Charles was still in the role.
We're the Mario brothers, and plumbing's out game, we ain't like the others who get all the fame, when your sink is in trouble, you can call us on the double, we're faster than the others, you'll get hooked on the brothers...to the brick!.......or something like that.
Charles and Lou were my first introductions to the character. Lou Albano is important to me. Super Show was on Netflix on the mornings I would also play Mario Kart Wii before breakfast. Both are iconic voices, even though I feel like nowadays these parts of Mario’s history are left in the dust. But it’s amazing. He is amazing.
Small youtubers are like the indie games of online content. They’re not as well known as the big ones, but god is the stuff they make really good. Keep it up!
Lou albano is a awsome wrestler and awsome wrestling manager during his time in the wwf wwe he managed the british bulldogs back then when they first won their world wrestling federarion tag team championship in 1986 in wrestlemania 2 the best match on the card besides hulk hogan match a steel cage match i did like how voice as mario too he did a good job as him same with the other voice actors before him and after him
There was actually a fully voice acted mario from the year 1982 on an obscure Vinyl Record called "Donkey Kong Goes Home" by Kid Stuff Records. I believe this Mario is voiced by "Pat McBride"
wow, this dude's hella underrated, earned a sub. Also, I loved Charles Martinet, but I think the new voice actor Kevin is great too, awesome job in Wonder
I just had to come to the comment section to say that the "Luigi wins through 2nd degree murder" line had me laughing through the rest of the video. So great!
I'll be honest I enjoy Chris Pratt as Mario, sure Charles Martinet is ironic but when comes to Mario to Mario in my story Chris Pratt just fits his character more Charles Martinet would make him sound way more joyful in life while Chris Pratt in my head can make Mario more straightforward and casual and he's more then just working for Princess Toadstool Edit: Charles Martinet works for the Super Mario in the video games but Chris Pratt for me works in the movie and the Mario in my story who serves Princess Toadstool to provide for his family makes him more relatable
@@xxroyalprincexx6811 IK!!!!, it’s “so long king bowser” but i find it funny some people thought mario said “so long gay bowser” instead of “king bowser”
That was pretty great, I love pretty much everyone you talked about in the video here. I've also on and off worked on my own Mario impression since I was a kid and my friends would say it's come a long way, my apologies for the lack of shame, heh.
Sure thing! It’s one thing to know what the sound of a laugh is, and another to hear it in your mind. This is called auditory sensory imagery, imagining/picturing sounds in your inner ear.
Excellent, EXCEPT I will say Kevin Afghani is NOT a pasta maestro. He uses head voice with no practically no chest voice, really limiting the already limited range of Mario. Martinet MASTERED this.
Not to mention his Wario voice is godawful and sounds literally nothing like Wario. The only good voice he does is Luigi, I wish Nintendo would just hire separate actors. One guy isn’t gonna have the same talent and range as Martinet
I personally believe that Mario's voice is ok if it's drastically different from the previous on which is why I am comfortable calling Chris, Charles, and Lou Mario but when his voice is too similar it just sounds uncanny
I might sound crazy but I like Kevin’s Mario better than Charles’ recent lines. It’s mainly because he gives the character so much energy that we haven’t heard from Charles since the 90s/00s.
6:50 You didnt search so well i guess… But understandable because Mario is Missing has 3 PORTS, YES… and the one of the voice appears at the MS-DOS / Mac version. But most likely on the MS-DOS version…
We all know that Smash Bros games will continue to use Charles's voice recordings until like 3 consoles later lol. They used the N64 recording of Bowser's voice up until like Smash 4 IIRC.
For some reason in my brain there was only ever Charles Martinet, so it was interesting to learn about the other voice actors! Also no shade to Ronald B. Ruben but he sounds incredibly stressed, like someone's holding a gun to his head 😂 great editing as usual!!
I just hope Kevin can substitute Charles enough. And holly crap! You onlu have less than 500 subs?! Your edition is amazing! Hope your channel grow big one day, because seriosly, you deserve it.
At first I didn't like the impression of kevin but now I think it sounds awesome and I think that many people thought the same at first (what I wanted to say is he's great 👍)
