I’ve been reviewing your videos. I appreciate your style and delivery. Very easy to listen to and digest. I’ve been training on and off for the last 4 years and hope to get my check-ride done this month. Your videos are giving me more and more confidence every time I watch them. Thank you.

We need more DPS's like you. There have been some clown pilots around. Like going the wrong way on downwind, cutting in on final, not using the radio at a crowded non-towered airport.

Seth, I just wanted to say thank you for this whole series on the Private Pilot ACS and in particular this episode. The whole series honestly helped relieve a lot of the anxiety I had leading up to my check ride (I passed last month). I say this episode in particular because of your comments about doing power-on stalls at less than full power. I discovered while practicing with my CFI that in the cold Wisconsin winter air, my Cherokee 180 requires a very aggressive pitch attitude to stall (full break) at full throttle. Your video here gave me confidence to bring this up with my DPE in the oral portion and we agreed to do the power on stall at a lower setting. So thank you again for this!!

This is great to hear and a perfect example of why I started the channel to begin with. Thank you for the feedback!

I appreciate everything you're doing for student pilots. I'm reading through the far aim this morning. For a private pilot checkride, under 61.105(a), it says we need to receive and log ground training from an authorized instructor. After looking through my log book (I had a significant time gap in training), I noticed that my instructor (who has since passed away) and I only logged one hour of ground. I know we had a lot more than that, but I didn't realize that I should have been logging it. What does that mean for my checkride requirements? I have completed all other requirements except 1hr of simulated time.

The rules don't say how much ground time is logged, it just says that there needs to be ground instruction logged. Have your current instructor so some ground training to verify you are ready and log that. Your examiner shouldn't have an issue with that. But, if in doubt just double check with your examiner. He/she would rather have a heads up than find out about a disqualifing condition on the day of.

On the basic instrument maneuvers, when in a simulated situation where the DPE may ask me to find a frequency or tune my COM radio to an airport tower frequency etc, will use of autopilot to maintain heading and altitude/lessen my workload, be considered acceptable?

I can't speak for other DPEs, but for me personally, that would be acceptable. Now, if I feel you were reliant on the autopilot to fly the airplane while you look for a frequency I may simulate an autopilot failure which would force you to do it while hand flying. Usually it is very apparent when a pilot is too dependent on the autopilot.

Thank you for clarifying. And thank you so much for the video series. They are top notch….VERY beneficial.
