My man Thomas (and the Autogefühl team) is absolutely on fire this week covering a bunch of VW AG cars. It's always a joy to watch your videos. Cheers from Hungary.
Yes a 'frunk' is important. Best place to keep charging cables. On a road trip when the boot/trunk is full of luggage, the last thing you need is to hunt around for the charging cable.
I love the cargo position on the back seats - especially when you have backward facing children seats, then u don't need the comfort of the shallower angle.
Why are they pushing themselves upmarket and competing with their sister brand Audi? Wouldn’t it make more sense for an electric A6 to start around this price? I just struggle with the idea, especially knowing the US market, of an American purposely buying a VW this expensive.
Maybe I can help redefine your financial thought process -- Hyundai Ionic 5 = $55000. The "N" performance version of the same car (600+ hp) raise that figure to $70,000! Fell better now?
Why do you and other 'experts' continue to slide your finger and overstate this with your videos. You do know that you can also just touch the 'slider' at any point to adjust the temperature, just as if it was a button. You DO NOT have to slide your finger. Unbelievable how this 'BS' has been going on for years and years. I find it comical. Other than that I always enjoy your videos.
OK Thomas, so, you spoil us. Came home from office, wanted to eat, but I saw your Skoda Superb video, so I watched that. My wife came home, and now she said to eat, and I see your ID7 new video. May I today? 😂😂😂 Good job, as always! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
WHY DO I BOTHER WATCHING THOMAS AND HIS EXCELLENT VIDEOS!!!!! As a citizen of the United States, the best VWs will never come to the U.S. Watching these videos is just torture😎
Will Australia see any I.D models at all. No word on them coming. The price of the I.d Buzz short wheel base is rumoured to be A$100,000. This is simply unaffordable for most people out there. Our charging infrastructure is abysmal, and our power supply is collapsing. We have no Nuclear power here. Maybe that's why VW still sends ICE cars to us. Nice cars and great review. Cheers.
#capacityBS and #electric_carBS. Two BS in one product, and someone willing to pay money for that?! EV cars by default are looser's choice, but any cheap chineese brand will outperform this abomination by VW.
I had to choose a new car for my work and it was this ID.7 or a Tesla Y on the shortlist. This car was way more comfortable than the Model Y but I had to choose the Y because I have a caravan and need 1450kg towing capacity, the model Y can tow 1600kg . The VW can tow only 1000kg, and 1200 with the GTX in The Netherlands but not enough for me. In Germany it is strangely1200 and 1400kg, what the hell? Why is that? Overall, the VW is an awesome car. GTX too expensive for me.
The car looks really good, I'm surprised more about the keyfob, since that's a keyfob I already have for my Skoda Octavia RS from 2021. Would seem a bit odd in my opinion when you have a more futuristic car than a 2021, to use the identical one in looks. Still the range is a reason to why I remain with petrol/diesel. I drive once a month approximately 3.000KM to visit family or go to Switzerland for a longer weekend/ which would mean I'd still need to make 3 stops instead of 1 stop when I look at it. Then filling with petrol is just a lot quicker, which would imply the duration of the drive would be extended by 1 hour (when already driving for approximately 11/12 hours that makes a massive difference on tiredness levels. Overall if it would achieve a range of lets say 800km (in the future) I'd be more interested in purchasing an EV, but that's something that currently isn't possible yet.
This is my favourite EV right now. Based solely on on-line presentations, but still. However, I hope there will be "normal" tyres/wheels available .These big wheels do nothing for me.
A frunk is important. Having the charging cable under all the luggage gets old quickly. I usually end up having it in the rear footwell for that reason. Also, considering no manufacturer has made more cars with a frunk (Beetle) they should learn from history by reminding people the frunk was not invented by Tesla.
These vent directions control via infotaiment are rubish. What I do not like, that both ID7 and ID3 GTX for example have the same design wheels, and there are many more bits that are quite similar/the same. Not a fan of this. I prefer, that between classes the vechiles are differentiated, that you could feel and see why you pay more :) Also the quality does not look surprising.
Great videos, Thomas and the team! How are the seats in this GTX version compared to regular ID.7 seats? Is there better side support? I find the regular ID.7 seats a bit wide, good for highway but lacking support for spirited driving.
Thomas whats your opinion, if they decided to bring an sport version from id7.. then they could bring also an sport version from the passat, a passat r.. is there any possibilities 😂🧐?
It needs a power wheel and tow hook for the GTX. When I step up to a higher trim those are the types of extras that make it worth the cost. More power accessories over the manuals. At least it got past the turquoise blue pipping on every model for color that better matches the car. It still could used some more contrast on the interior. The lower trim is brighter and more airy than all the monotone gray of this GTX. I'd recommend the smaller infotainment screen as this one is way to massive. It might be passable if it were lower down but not high up like this one. It detracts from the view outside the car. Anyway, for the cost and level of the higher model it shouldn't have to have all those budget car reminders right in your face.
Really a shame it's so expensive, it's really hard to swallow the price difference to a base model 3, specially with how much kit the Tesla gets standard. I do agree it's worth more, but hot damn, 30% more😅
@@binflydushy Starts from 57k €, goes easily up to 70k... That's BMW i5 territory. Costs quite a bit more than an e-tron, Enyaq, model y, model 3.... Base Model 3 for 40k € is more efficient, with a bit worse range, less space, yet much sportier to drive and has a lot more kit. The long range version is still way cheaper at 50k, and beats it in every metric except space, and perhaps luxury if you really pimp out your ID7, but then you're paying 20k more...
@@badbasic i5 territory if you want entry level baseline, because 72k is where the i5 Touring starts. If you compare both as full house then you can easily shoot the i5 Touring over the 90k mark. Also all the other cars you are mentioned are in a smaller class than the ID7^^' If you wanna stay with Tesla, a more fitting candidate instead of the Model 3 sizewise would be the Model S (Model S: 4,97 length vs ID7: 4,96 m length), which currently starts at nearly 95k here in Germany.
@@FurTalles You conveniently forget that both Enyaq and Model Y are bigger and cheaper, and Model S has 3 times the performance... But sure, I'll take your side, car companies are not charging us enough, the cars are way too cheap! VW, what are you doing, that thing should START at 70k, and we should roll dice on what equipment you allow us to purchase!
No production car ever looks as complete as its concept. Concept as designed from a cost is no object perspective. Not even luxury car makers could afford that. At least not one that I've ever seen. Have you?
@@ralfulrich6254 No cheap chinese product? The VW id7 cost half the price in china for the same car. They just charge absurd amounts in Europe for same cars.
for utility, almost everything you said is bull#### style. For people that want a car to carry people, great mileage, be able to go up steep roads at speed, has some baggage volume, and easy access to all seats...not so good.
No orange peel in the paint job = it was manually sanded and polished to look perfect for the presentation. Unfortunately the production vehicle will not have the same perfect paint but nevertheless, awesome color combo. Nice presentation, Thomas!
@@erdbeerfeldheld007 Yes it does, but the GTX in some EU countries (at least 2 that I checked) is 72k (base version). And in the same countries a 5 series starts at 68k (base version). I guess it depends on the country and taxes, but you can get a used 2021 Taycan for 70k so..🤷
You got it backwards, the tourer will not be available in North America. As a car reviewer I would expect you to know estate cars do not sell well there. No disrespect
Only desperados buy them. Otherwise why VW introduces a new model while the rest of VW electric vehicles sell badly? Going to buy a new car shortly but it will not be EV for sure.
@@edipires15 doesn't matter. Model Y is more practical than this with a huge boot and a fairly large drunk, is spacious and ride and handles really well
@@Lav-v9c Actually, it is not more practical. Although the numbers may suggest otherwise, the shape of the Model Y doesn't allow for efficient space utilization. Recently, Bjorn Nyland conducted a banana box test to measure the capacity of the ID7 saloon and found that it fit the exact same number of boxes as the Model Y with the seats up (9 boxes) and only 2 fewer boxes with the seats down (24 boxes vs 26). If the regular saloon car can already match the Model Y, then this estate version will most likely surpass it with its improved capacity.
