Fun fact - this show only exists because Tex Avery's daughter had to pay for her kid's college, and at that point you realize how little one of the most influential cartoonists of all time made in his life. Even worse, the people who made this tried to shaft her in her payment, saying that she was lucky they were asking her permission at all to use her father's name to sell this piece of shit. So, she enlisted the help of Chuck Jones to help her out.
Cody Mayo I figured Tex would've had a decent income from all the work he has done. And I thought the TTG creators were assholes but the people behind this are even bigger BIGGGER Jerks. They even said it was a kindness they were even asking her permission at all. This is truly disgraceful Neither Tex nor Tex's daughter wanted this.
If I had watched this without knowing that Tex Avery was an actual person, I would have never believed you if you told me that Tex Avery was one of the most highly respected people in the animation industry. This show tarnishes his legacy so damn badly.
I know, right? Glen Kennedy animated most of the intro, and he also worked on shows like "A Pup Named Scooby-Doo," "Tiny Toon Adventures," "Darkwing Duck" and "Goof Troop" and they had a similar style to that intro at times.
To be fair I think that's actually standard. Intros are supposed to get you hyped and get repeated each time so I think the budget is more. Still this fails at getting you hyped so much as jingling keys in front of your supposedly dumb 8 year olds face.
You know what's sad is that Cartoon Network actually had a show called The Tex Avery Show years before this ... abomination came along that was actually showcased Tex Avery's cartoons. Of course trying to recreate the charm of Tex Avery's work without actually having access to it was just asking for trouble.
+Oswald The Lucky Rabbit Well, keep in mind back in the 80s there were two types of cartoons, the action adventure cartoons and the cute cuddly education cartoons, so when the 90s came along people decided to go back to the reason why people liked cartoons in the first place, wacky, crazy, squash n' stretch humor, and this show was no exception, along with Ren & Stimpy, Animaniacs, Tiny Toon Adventures, and the Rosy and Buddy Show, this show was just trying to go back to the roots of all cartoons, sure they did it poorly, but at least trying to do it for a good reason
Exactly, this intro is much better and has the style and substance of Tex Avery:ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Tw3zWL3Vr20.html But the one we saw here is just abominable. I hope Tex Avery cartoons will be played at the tv screens again where they should have never left.
Your not alone on this one,I remember watching this while waiting for Pokémon to come on on UPN 38 back in 1998-1999 and I didn’t think it was that memorable back then either. It was on because one of my favorite shows was on before it.When Pokémon came first came to the US,it was in syndication before Kids WB got the rights and the rest is history.
To quote Pan Pizza: "I'm challenging you all to a cringe-off. Watch the intro to The Wacky World of Tex Avery without cringing in shame. You can't, it's that awful"
@powerstar 2028 "Die" is the wrong word, sorry. I meant that they were bought by Cookie Jar, which was bought by DHX Media. They became defunct in 2009.
0:24 Can we just stop for a moment and appreciate the really poorly looped animation? And how the soldier was somehow dismembered even though we never saw it?
Even as a kid I thought it was weird when the group of animals jumped in a second time... why not refine the loop so it just looks like them going in a circle continuously?
@@carlbloke8797 no he wasn't part of this but he did slam Anamaniacs and you imagine that this is sorta how he interprets the show - the egotistical, pedantic tool
@@djvskakdgsjxgdoe If anything Animaniacs is a perfect homage to Tex Avery's legacy. Same with AOSTH, Timon and Pumbaa, Tom and Jerry Tales and Cat Burglar.
There's something that bugs me about the theme song. Well, one of the things that bugs me, that I don't think anyone else has mentioned: why the hell is Pompeii Pete, of all characters, playing the straight man in the theme song? Possibly the most insane character on the show, inexplicably the straight man, just trying to sing the theme while all the other characters, including the one guy who usually played the straight man to Pete himself, are harassing him. Like, why not choose almost ANY OTHER CHARACTER for that part? Then again, it's not really the biggest problem with the show. Hell, not even the biggest problem with the theme song. Just a little thing that just bugs me.
@@zigzoinks5493 No, guys. I think I get what she's saying. Pompeii Pete is playing the straight man in the theme song by just sitting there, trying to sing the song while two loud-mouthed idiots scream into his face. One of those loud-mouthed idiots was Dan, who is generally the straight man to his comic. Think of it this way: What if Spongebob and Patrick were trying to sing a song or something and Squidward kept on running up on screen and interrupting him with his loud, obnoxious noises? It's out of character and not even in a funny or interesting kind of way. It's just ... eeegh.
This is an insult to an animation legend, I mean say what you want about some of the modern incarnations of stuff like Looney Toons and Tom and Jerry, at least they don't plaster the names of Chuck Jones or Joe Barbara on the titles, this is just despicable
This show gave me literal waking nightmares as a child. It was so bad I thought this show wasn't real, just an imagination of some horrible, dark side of my mind kept locked away until bedtime. I am sad to realize this was a real thing that existed....
The Wacky World of Tex Avery, but every time Wacky is said, the entire Bee Movie script is read out loud. Anyone bold enough to even dare trying this out?
Sweet buttery JESUS. This has to be one of the most cluttered, hastily put together cartoon intros I've ever seen. Everything's going too damn fast, even for a cartoon! Sums up how much of a facepalm worthy, loud, obnoxious, unoriginal, rushed, sloppily animated, annoying, unfunny, forgettable, idiotic, dimwitted, and downright disgraceful mess this piece of shit was. A pure and utter grave-spitting to the work of Tex Avery.
For a show that's supposed to honor Tex Avery, it's surprising to NOT see his style of animation replicated because if you actually look at the cartoons he made, they're amazing and influential. I'm sure the cartoonists tried their best to make it work, but at the end of the day, it doesn't pay homage to one of the best animators in history.
I remember hating this the moment I saw it as a kid. I heard it being announced that there was a show on the way called "The Wacky World of Tex Avery" and I thought "Cool! An entire show of Tex Avery cartoons!" But... that's not what we got. That's not what we got at all. Just a cheap imitation that even kid me could see through.
Oh lord, when all the principles of animation that is so importantly fundamental, turns an intro into something awful and a train wreck ya know this intro is ain’t worth rewatching
I remember absolutely hating the intro as a kid, I couldn't wait for it to be over. The episodes though I generally did enjoy. Even watching them as an adult they're chucklesome for the most part. But man....that intro.... yeeeeeeeeesh.
They took two defining things about the 90's (those being the return of the 40's cartoon aesthetic and gross out humor), mixed them, and created an abomination.
The creators of this show made it after Tex Avery's passing. Thank goodness I never came across this show when I was a kid, but Boomerang used to show his actual cartoons.

This feels like an AWFUL Family Guy cutaway gag... that lasted 65 half-hours on Saturday mornings.
