This was fucking creepy/scary. I used to watch this as a kid and just looked it up for nostalgia reasons, but I didn't like re-visiting this just now. 😂
I looked this up to verify my answer to a video game trivia question, and now I am extremely disturbed at the subliminal messaging this song directed to us as kids contained.
I remember first seeing this on a Saturday morning and utterly confused why the X-Men looked different and had a totally new theme song. Then again, I was the sort of weird kid who was badly confused by the X-Men OP and thought that Cyclops transformed into Wolverine, Rogue into Storm, etc. Because most of the earliest stuff I watched was imported Japanese stuff involving transformations. So yeah.... Once I understood this wasn't the X-Men, though, it stood on its own. Rockin song too.
Poor grasp of the source material: Aside from having the classic Tex Avery gags, the show has nothing to do with Tex Avery and, for FUCKIN' legal reasons, none of his trademark characters like Bugs Bunny and Droopy Dog are included in this show. There's a character who's a cowboy named after Avery, and that's pretty much it.
Brad Crandall did the voice over for the opening credits. He also worked as a narrator on a lot of late 60's early 70's SUNN Pictures like The Bermuda Triangle and The Search for Noah's Ark.
I have to admit, I used to think it was odd he dressed in the cartoon costume version of himself as a child. Thinking back now - And seeing it in this video - it actually seems like a pretty slick move.
My absolute favorite part of this intro is when Hardtop looks up while adjusting his cuff. I wish more cartoons had details like that in their animation
For the longest I was trying to find this intro and couldn’t ever find it. I just recently seen a Martin short commercial for Paris in Vegas and he dressed up as this character lol wow
