Enough with the virtue-signalling. 1) The WNBA has negative profits with averages losses of 10 million a year. 2) Salaries in pro sports are tied to revenues. 3) The NBA literally has to subsidize the WNBA like a welfare program to keep it running. 4) The WNBA is only 28 years old as a league. 5) Even calculating for inflation, the current salaries of veteran WNBA players are comparable to those of the average NBA player 47 years ago when the NBA was also 28 years into its existence as a league.

I actually watch and enjoy the WNBA. That being said...it's a business. You can't sell only 5000 seats in a 20,000 seat arena and make money. That's reality. Business is business. If you don't get butts in seats, air time (commercial money) or merch sales you don't have money to pay your players more...it's simple but I see people like sensationalism over facts.

This entire debate is a huge misnomer. The vast majority of MALE professional basketball players DON'T make the money that NBA players do (such as those playing in the CEBL, in EuroBasket, etc.). The NBA is one of the biggest sports leagues period. You have to compare salaries and wages of men's leagues that make similar revenue lol The women's tournament didn't outdraw the men's, the final did (and the final was on ABC while the men's final was on TNT). Also the wage gap debate in sports is inherently difficult because we don't segregate men's and women's jobs in the "real world" (i.e. we don't have a male AND female CEO of Rogers so if they're both doing the same job as CEO of Rogers they deserve to be paid the same). If Caitlin Clark was drafted by the Indiana Pacers in June's NBA Draft and didn't get paid the salary of a NBA rookie that is classic textbook discrimination.

The men get paid a tremendous amount of money because their league earns billions of dollars in T V revenue and ticket sales, parking, concessions and merchandise apparel, how many men are lining up to buy Clark's jersey? Or anybody else in the wnba ? Moreover, the wnba has many rumors of lesbianism, most male sports fans are not interested in funding that !

Here are some unsolicited solutions: (1) W players opt out of the current collective bargaining agreement -CBA and negotiate a new one. (2) Fans. Support your teams. Buy season tickets. (3) Watch the games. Increased TV ratings = More sponsors and commercials. (4) Create a Bird v Magic type rivalry. like in the 80s. That 10 yr stretch Increased viewers and interest in the League. (4) Create Michael Jordan / MARS Blackmon/ Air Jordan commercials. These 4 and other idea's will grow the League Revenue. Which in turn will increase the negotiating position of the players. Caution: It will take time. The NBA took years to get to 10B in annual Revenue.

Male athletes get paid more than female athletes because salaries are proportional to revenues. The same reason why female models such as Gisele get paid more than male models, because Gisele generates more revenues than male models do.
