The Wait is Over: NEW 2024 Chevrolet Chevelle 70/SS Takes the Spotlight
When the Chevrolet Chevelle Super Sport 454 was released in the 1970s, a new era of powerful muscle cars was born. Sadly, the dynasty of Chevelle muscle cars only lasted for three generations before it was discontinued due to the enormous production costs General Motors was incurring despite the huge success of the Chevelle brand. And while fans have long since questioned the company’s decision not to reboot the hit brand, General Motors has been pretty secretive about any new developments.
Watch the video to see all we know about this upcoming musclecar classic!

I was a kid in Cold Lake Alberta. 308"s in the rear end ( high way gears ). I was doing 150 mph as I passed Mitch Emery in his AMX 400. I always liked the 1969 & 1970 Chevelle's but they were everywhere. I wanted something a bit different so I acquired a 1970 Monte Carlo from my brother. It went from being a lowrider without a motor & trans to a daily driver that hauled ass and was a lot of fun to cruise. He installed a tilt-steering wheel, power seat, small block and a turbo 350 trans w/shift kit. The lowrider paint job was really colorful and really busy but it had to go. We got as far as red primer and that was good enough for me. At least it was all one color. With the black vinyl top it looked real mean. It was a good look for a car with a license plate # 342 MOB, hehehe. . . oh, to be 20 yrs old again! Fast forward 40 years. . . my brother owns a beautiful '69 Chevelle. I wish I still had my Monte Carlo or maybe a Hellcat. 😃👹

I had a 1970 Chevelle and loved it. 350 Small Block with Headers (or a 454). Automatic or 4 on the floor. The Chevelle body style is the ideal "Muscle Car" flow and it just says "soup me up" and "hot rod" all over it. Some 60's on the front and 50's on the back with Crager rims and maybe even some scavenger pipes just ahead of the rear axle. Maybe even some Flames down the sides OR the standard 2 stripes down the middle. Damn. I'm getting a chubby just thinking about. PS> I have to admit, I loved the head lights etc on the 1969 but the headlights was the last thing anyone looked at on my car.

I 'ACTUALLY' saw a 67,68 or 69 very nicely restored Chevelle , back in the early to mid Nineties around 2 a.m driving thru Alabama ' The Beautiful ' heading towards a Construction Job site. I just looked ..... The Chevy brought back memories of MY sixties, stationed at Camp Lejeune, where you could buy a brand new one for a little over Three Grand. My Brother in law had a 67 Chevelle that got away from him and ended up on the front porch and thru the Living Room Glass, which was about seven or eight feet above street level ..... Memories, " Those were the Days - My Friend " ? Tks., much appreciated

What I'd like to see is chevy or ford even chrysler authorized a second company to build replicate cars of the classics the same way factory five did for shelby, but build them to original factory specs and sale as a specialty or novelty car with up to date safety features, and buyers could just buy an existing crate motor or built their own, with most classic muscle cars, it's the condition of the body and frame, which is rare to find one that isn't suffering from some level of rust, rot decaying sheet metal. I think that would be better than trying to recreate something that barely resembles the original.

The 1st car I ever owed was a '69 Chevelle Malibu convertible, purchased as an 8 yo car for 800, very clean 80k on odom.. Came with a smokey 307 and a BW 3 speed stick. I promptly installed a 350/350 4 bolt, backed with an M-22. It burned up in a fire. I stood on a nearby rooftop as the firefigher hacked away at the trunk lid. I told the firefigher next to me 'You know, I have the key for that.' He responded "Nah, he's having too much fun." The end... If I win the lottery, I'd favor a resto over the '24. But it is sweet. In my opinion the styling of the 1969 Chevelle was far superior to the next year’s more ‘boxy’ style. I always thought the stance of it looked like it was growling even if it was parked. I feel if you are going to redo the car you should concentrate on the whole feel of it, at least make it bigger than the Camaro (as in the good ol’ days) and bring back the chrome. Bumpers, door handles, stainless trim around wheel wells, windows etc. That’s what defined the era.

Totally agree! 69 is by far my favorite year for the Chevelle. The look from the side of the car is perfect. It's just a car... but then later, when they become uncommon, it's always the same story, 'I used to have one of those. Wish I'd never sold it'... but now, 40 years later, I don't have to say that, because I still have mine... biggest problem is people have been trained by society to want new stuff all the time... don't restore that old beater, just buy a new one... so people tend to view vehicles as disposable...you don't have to look ol boy up on my account, I'm pretty sure I already know how that conversation will go...'Hey, you still have that red 454 Chevelle you had almost a half century ago?' him: 'Well, a couple years after highschool...'

@@2015ChevyBigBlock That my 1969 RS SS Z28 that I own and built when I was 16 is a better car than yours will ever be, grandpa. This new "Chevelle" is an atrocity. I promise you without any regard I have driven more cars of this era that were all fully restored than you could ever dream of. I have been fortunate enough to be around 30+ brand new 1970 LS6's and even more 1st gen Camaros. Anything you can possibly think of in that latter part, 327's, 350's, 396's, and even 427's.... not just a COPO steel block also a ZL1 Aluminum block.. plus some big motor swaps. I daily drove a 502 Hugger Orange '69 when I was in highschool frequently. When the new generation Camaros came in stock at a local GM dealership I had to drive about 5 different promo 1st gens in to sit out for promotion for them (owner was a family friend). One of their salesmen tried to trade me for my car and I laughed... just like I would if you tried to trade me your "15 Z28 LS7". None of us were hating on the origin of the Chevelle, we were hating on the absolute ruined design of them in the same facet that they ruined the Camaro when it was brought back (mind you, your model is less atrocious than the initial 2009 series). If Mopar can figure out a way to make the Challenger an absolute badass beast that looks the part to it's roots, then what is GM's problem? I think there would be a real market for what would appear to be replicas of muscle cars from the past except with modern engines exhausts transmissions etc, albeit with any modifications needed to meet current safety and efficiency standards. All that's need for such a thing to happen is for auto manufacturers to have reasons to believe that such ventures would be profitable enough to justify doing so. And they wouldn't need to limit production of cars from the past to just muscle cars but also include any cars from the past for which there would be a demand.

Reminds me of my 1972 Chevelle, especially the green one, although mine was repainted a dark metallic green with a mint green half-vinyl top. The grill was changed to a tubular one and the front bumper was reinforced to prevent the typical nose of it from pointing upwards if someone backed into it in a parking lot. No performance engine either, just a standard 283 CI with some chrome attributes, standard wheels with beauty rims with center caps. (I had planned on changing the center caps to Baby Moons at one time.) The Interior was green vinyl bench seats, AM radio, with one back seat speaker for the Mickey Shore Reverb addition.

So they are trying to get rid of the Chevelle then the Camaro. What's next the Malibu. Why don't you all just bring back the Impala and the citation too. Shoot just declare bankruptcy...😢😮. I miss the Impala 😢. That was my family's car..a tradition. That sucks. Maybe I should switch to Ford..at least they still have the mustang.

I have been saying for years they should do this. Ford's sucess with the mustang is well, hard to beat. I have a procharged 2015 that is a beast. My first car was 70 chevelle SS and loved it, all black bench seat 4spd. As the video played I thought wow! this sounds good though the base HP sounded lame. Everything looked good until they said the price! 160K NOT!!!
