I took a walk from the site of the former Mansfield Colliery, along the Mansfield branch to the enormous preserved headstocks of the former Clipstone Colliery.
It was a beautiful sunning day in Nottinghamshire, and there were plenty of railway remains to be found.

Enjoyed that, hoping you'll do all the other Colliery Branches....Welbeck and Oxcroft, Thoresby etc. Good to do the March to Spalding line awell as it was a late closure so plenty of remains hidden in bushes.

Only just found this channel you’re doing (follow you on twitter), I live in Clipstone, great to see the grand reveal! I love this history of the headstocks, but must admit to taking it for granted that I drive past them everyday!

Great video! Spent a lot of time in Clipstone as a kid as my nan used to live opposite those stocks! I live in Lincoln now but come from Ollerton, if you get chance the old disused Ollerton railway was accessible when i was a kid, not sure about it now. It runs all the way through to the 'pit tip', lots of mining history in that area. My mums house is on the first street that was built in Ollerton, built for the mining families decades ago. My dad was a coal miner after his dad and worked at different pits in the area before they all closed so these bring back lots of good memories of him!

@IckeWalks no problem! The old railway line goes through a place called Boughton too, not far from the old pit in Ollerton and there has a bit of WW2 history. There's a place called Boughton Camp which is used as an industrial estate now but they're all old POW bunkers. Not too far from The Holocaust museum. Hope this helps 🙂

What a great video and cool commentary style, really enjoyed it, havd subbed to your channel....i made 2 videos around the former Concentration sidings which is a little further up from the Clipstone colliery spur you waliked up. Those lower sidings you saw the sleepers on was the arrival and run round loop for the the colliery before loaded trains shunted back. If you go back go have a look at the lineside opposite the old water tower, lots of former signalling posts and railway remains are there, plus two old colour light signals are still in position.....as i said i made two videos on my channel and you can see what i found...thanks again for a great video...regards, John
