Andrew Lincoln (Rick) originally was planning on leaving the show around season 8. There were three options on how Rick could have left the show; A Rick actually could have been killed off in the season 8 finale and bleed to death on the tree where he slashed Negan's throat B Rick was going to be seriously injured and taken away in Helicopter by Jadis like what happened in season 9 C Rick being taken away in helicopter by Jadis in season 9 which we got Andrew Lincoln thought 8 was a good number to have his finale season but changed his during 2017 Comic-Con Andrew change his mind because he wasn't mentally prepared nor was the other cast members so he called his wife and said I feel overwhelmed. I don’t think I’m ready. I can’t do it. I’ve got Norman, I’ve got Danai, I’ve got Jeffrey, I’ve got Melissa McBride, I’ve got Greg Nicotero - all these beautiful friends of mine and I don’t know if I can do it yet. I don’t know if it’s time.’” he defo was planning on leaving the show at some point but he was just postponing the inevitable. according to Tom Payne (Jesus) killing off Carl greatly increased Andrew's motivation to leave the show.

The next couple of episodes were a very exciting time to be a walking dead fan and I’m glad you guys are creeping up on season 11!!!!

Loved their reaction. Molly's was all over the place. Courtney on the other hand was not showing a full blown reaction til Rick's son stepped on the scene lol. But great reaction to the talking walkers. I remember how crazy that was. Everything felt different and everyone was different from last we saw them 6 years ago. A whole new world indeed. Bring it 😎

Yes, the time jump was an estimated 6 years. It's also good to know that there was even a full 1.5 years from the end of 8 to S9EP5, which makes it nearly 8 years since the war with the saviors and Carl's death. Besides that, this is a massive refresh for the series, and I'm glad the group is continuing on with it!

I don't know if anyone commented this on patreon but the actor who plays Henry when he was younger is 15. The actor who plays him starting in this episode is 20. He would have been 17-18 when this was filmed.

The actor who plays older Henry is the real life brother of Madison Lintz who played Sophia.

I would say maybe fill them in on what the fanbase was going through at the time, like how we got spoiled on Rick leaving and they had to tell us, Morgan and Dwight joining Fear, the time jump in between 9x5 and 9x6 was 6 years, etc. Stuff that's not spoilery, but would at least clear some confusion up.
