Daryl & Merle mention their Grandfather being in the War in the video game that game out about a 10 years ago

The real name of "The Nest" is Mont Saint Michel. It's an old Monastery on the Normandy coast. You can walk out to it ONLY at low tide. 🙂

In the previous episode Darryl talked about a man being trapped fighting a war and it's the children that pay the price for the cause he doesn't necessarily believe in. Then we find out it was his grandfather who left behind his family and they suffered for it. I guess now Darryl is contemplating if this cause is worth fighting for.

This spin off was amazing! Exceeded my expectations just because I’ve been watching the walking dead for 10 years and I didn’t think there was much more to give and this show proved me wrong ! They expanded on Daryl as a character and not just the guy who grunts I loved it

Loved seeing Carol in this after opting out of being in this season initially! Saw earlier that she is going to be a full-time cast member in Season 2 of 'TWD: Daryl Dixon', which the season will now be subtitled 'The Book of Carol', which sounds awesome in MY book, lol. Finally getting towards having the main members of the gang back together again it seems like, with Negan & Mags in Manhattan, now soon Carol & Daryl reunited in France & Michonne reuniting soon with Rick somewhere, which will also have Jadis & possibly Morgan on down the road at some point now. Very cool stuff for our group of core favorites.❤

I think Daryl was conflicted about leaving and he was just hallucinating that he was hearing and seeing Laurent. When the camera pans out at the end it looks like he’s alone, I don’t think Laurent would have been able to get there by himself and if you look at the walkers along the beach it does appear as though they are trying to go after him, almost as if he wasn’t really there.

In my point of view, I think Codron Sparred Daryl because first of all he was told to kill the boy and for a quick second he thought of the scars it would leave upon the boy after killing daryl infront of his face. Another point to be noted is that maybe Codron sees daryl as an honorable fighter after proving himself in the fight with the walker variants and killing him would just be cowardly while he is unarmed. At the end, Codron knew Laurant needs Daryl to get to the nest because without him, they wouldnt survive ! Really a great episode so far of the entire series and fully locked and loaded for season 2 with Carol ! ❤

Greg Nicotaro said they filmed at Normondy, but I had no idea it was for Daryl's background story. Will Dixon is menrioned in the 10 old video game "Survival Instinct". Glad they kept that name. Great episide, great series. And bring on Carol!

I think the reason why Cordon didn’t kill Daryl right then and there was due to the fact that Laurent was there. He can tolerate a lot of things, but when it comes to murdering someone in front of a child, he won’t tolerate that. Even if he had killed Daryl right there, those guys that he was with would’ve murdered the three instead of simply letting them go. Plus Daryl never killed his brother that girl did in the first episode, so there’s a lot that he’ll need to know.

This episode was amazing. I wanted to note first off that I loved the walker on walker killing bit. I don't believe we have ever seen something like that in TWDU. Lastly, I cannot wait for next year man!!

I think Codron not killing Daryl was more simple than him thinking Laurent is a messiah. I think he didn’t want to kill a kid and knew if he killed Daryl he would basically be killing a kid. That’s why he said not today Dixon.

Daryl refers to his grandfather obliquely in Episode 5. He speaks of men going to war and their families and children paying the price. I knew straightaway that the opening scene of Episode 6 was the D-Day invasion and that the dead soldier would be Daryl’s grandfather. Daryl’s conversation with Isabelle was really about generational trauma. Daryl is the second generation to have to deal with this trauma and it’s still affecting him. 😢 If you look closely at Daryl’s journey over the years you see two themes. The first is an affinity for children, especially abused, neglected or abandoned children. This drive informs his actions all the way back to searching for Sophia in season 2. The second theme is fear of being truly close to anyone or letting himself settle into a relationship or home. This is not because he wants to be a “lone wolf” but rather because he fears abandonment. Beth called him out for it, and so does Isabelle (nice parallel). I think there’s a possibility that Daryl’s having a vision/hallucination of Laurent because his heart pulls him so strongly back to the boy and to a place where he feels appreciated and at home in a different way than with his American family. I think that the Pouvior (sp?) and the CRM are at least cooperating so it’s possible that in a larger way the mission of the Union of Hope is Daryl’s fight after all.

I feel like In season 2 carol will arrive in France while Genet and all her people will attack the castle and have a huge battle destroying the castle in the process and Daryl will take everyone back to America with them including Isabelle and Laurent

He told Genean the first time he met her the tattoo was about being a believer (in Laurent). He gave it up but seems to have re-engaged. With Laueent, not Daryl.

Here are my thoughts...great series, rewatchable (couldn't do it with Dead City, except with you guys); Also, I think Laurent isn't immune, but just special. He has great empathy for humans, and brings out empathy in others. He's special because he'll be the one to bring people together, to bring the world back to some kind of order, when he grows up. And with Codron sparing Daryl, I think he did it because of Laurent, and what Laurent said to him, "God loves you." I don't think it affected him because he suddenly believed, but perhaps because those words mean something else to him...words that were spoken to him as a child that brings back good memories. Which is Laurent's special gift. Which is probably why Daryl means more to him than others, because Daryl also has an innate ability of empathy. And I think the producers didn't want a missed opportunity of honoring the soldiers who died in France, so they incorporated a story around Daryl & his grandfather to do that. I can appreciate it. Good stuff. I enjoyed it immensely...show & reaction. BTW....Steven, I think you are the only reactor to believe that Daryl isn't staying in France. I hope not too. I liked the France setting, but Daryl needs to go home.

That castle is Mont St. Michel in Normandy France. The castle has a causeway that you can walk on from the mainland, but during high tide the tides conceal it. It’s so defendible that the English built a crappy version of the same name on the other side of the channel

He spared Daryl in that moment because he wasn't after the kid. But when he learned the kid wasn't safe until he reached the nest, he let Daryl live to escort the boy safely. Only after that was done would he kill Daryl.

On the radio I predict Carol was referring to Dwight and Cheryl has come back . I believe season 2 will be Carol Side of the story in the US. What she was doing at the same time Daryl was away . Remember she didn’t want to do the show because of traveling far away to film. Season 3 will have Daryl & Carol reunite in the US

Can't Wait For The Walking Dead Daryl Dixon Season 2 The Book Of Carol

This show is contracted to be filmed in France. So season 2 is still in France. Carol is supposed to reunite with Daryl at Saint Michel and likely to help with the battle with Genet. I felt the grandfather scene was meant to provide understanding to Daryl in why his grandfather left. That he went to fight for someone else in another country and even sacrificed himself before fulfilling what he thought he would be doing. When Daryl saw the marker, he may have understood why his grandfather did what he did and why Daryl is also there in France himself. To complete what his grandfather couldn't. When I saw the D-Day scene, I knew that it was one of those 'Daryl was meant to be there' type deal. I think Laurent is immune because of the walker dna mutating with his mother's (like with LOU). But really he is only meant to be the new hope for the next generation. I do think Daryl dies (because his grandfather also died there and would have fulfilled his grandfather's promise) and Carol is meant to be there with him to bring him "home" at the conclusion of next season. Codron will be the new "hulking" walker that you all mentioned since Genet mentioned that she would be basically torturing him. Great show and great reactions!🙌🏾

I thought the story of his grandfather was great! How after he never came back from war and the Dixon family just fell apart because of it. The add in the fact the Daryl's brother had a motorcycle with SS on it.

Personally, I was so confused on why tattoo-face spared Daryl. Also, do not like this manipulation Isabel is trying to spin with Daryl - she heard him talk about his father and then immediately turned around and used it against him about leaving Laurant. That's just my personal opinion though.

Why has no one pointed out that Daryl didn’t actually kill Cordon’s brother? This is a quote from Walking Dead Wiki “Michel (Codron) grabs Maribelle and begins dragging her away. Drawing his knife, Daryl overpowers Henri and stabs him in the throat, holding the dying man as a human shield. Michel shoots at Daryl, slightly grazing his neck and causing him to drop Henri. As Michel prepares to shoot Daryl, Maribelle hits him from behind with Henri's spear, subduing him. Before Daryl can shoot the man, Maribelle tells him to save the powder and impales Michel in the chest with the spear, killing him in revenge for what he had tried to do to her.” Maribelle lied to Cordon and I guess Daryl didn’t know Henri’s name and assumed he killed the brother? Seems like an opening for Daryl and Codron to team up assuming they didn’t kill him. I mean it would have been just as easy for the 2 guards to have switched parts because Daryl did kill one of them. I just hope it was for a reason.

I am not convinced that Laurent is not an hallucination after what Daryl has just been through. The fact that they left it there and there is no WTF from Daryl. I could be wrong, but I think Daryl only thinks he sees/hears Laurent because the struggle for him to stay or go is very real. He can't be faulted for loving and feeling obligated to more than one group of people. I'll be interested to see whether the kid is real or in his imagination. So, wow, next season!

At the beginning of season 2 Daryl will have to get the kid back to the Nest, I can't believe he would take him to America. I think Carol will end up controlling the gang that sent Dayrl to France. Since she's a strong woman I think she would do well with this group. I would really like Carol to go to France. Maybe the next series will be The Walking Dead: Carol Peletier?

To be fair quinn had a pipe not much you can do with that when they have metal around the skull but this episode was amazing and great reaction guys 🐐

They're trying to make us think that something is up with Laurent, where he has this 6th sense about stuff that hasn't happened, and an ability to read people and almost manipulate them. This is what I took away from the scene where Codron helps them and lets them go. Up until the moment Laurent says "God Loves You", Codron was bloodthirsty and was going to kill Daryl and them. Also, he could've bought into the whole "Laurent is the messiah" thing, since he seems to be religious.

I think it was to show part of why Daryl's dad was a jerk. His grandma was single mom, lost her husband. It was nice to have some little backstory on Daryl though. I hope he doesnt end up with Isabel. Those low blows. smh Also fun fact. I found the song at the end was U2 "Seconds" from their 1983 album War.

I think in season 2 they are going to reveal that his grandfather dying in France was what destroyed his family. His grandmother left alone caused everything to fall apart and that is why his father was such an asshole and why his life was so awful. It's probably why he was never a joiner.

I understood the change of mind, as soon as he saw they were willing to kill a kid for a (fake) cause, it was too much for him, he was only trying to avenge his brother. And as that realization set it, he didn't see Daryl as a bad guy anymore, only someone trying to survive (he probably knew his brother was a POS deep down). What I don't understand is why he didn't shoot Daryl at the arena, when the black dude shot the other guy about to shoot them...

I don't understand all you said i take the subtitles that a bit better for my comprehension. Some think can't be understand if you are not familiar with french culture. Exemple ( no spoil) in France " La dame de fer" is the effeil tower. The candy which Laurent read with a joke is called " carambar" the all the joke of these very 0, but you said in your mind after. " it's so 0 i laugh" 🤣🤣🤣 ". Same the" where is Bryan? Bryan is in the kitchen " that's in manual school to learn English. When i saw faces on the react" WTF that's no sense " well the old guy lost his mind, perhaps us too if that really happens. The night club in Paris, i can understand, that can't be understand for others but as French i think that can be true so insane can be. For more think i give you an interview from" allo ciné" a pro website cinema with norman reedus. He explains very good the diffent ambiance of this show and the main. And more and more reference of the french culture. The first time i was thinking" yeah, norman i love you but its only communication " and after the second episode. I feel like they've done it backwards. It would make sense to have fast, strong walkers at the beginning of the apocalypse, and then as their body naturally decays from the lack of water intake, they'd start getting slower...

Deep down he knows Daryl didn't kill his brother, the beach ending seemed like they wanted to joke with us by having Laurent appear out of no where like the messiah for a laugh, I think he's not there daryl is just seeing things, can't wait for season 2, rick michonne is next.
