And just before Maggie pulled a gun on Negan, she (and everyone else) just stood there and let Negan get attacked by a walker until he saved himself. I didn't see much difference between that and Negan not pulling Maggie up.

Nah the people who left clearly aren't interested in the show anymore, and that's alright. If you make them come back they're just gonna be negative the entire time

Angela Kang also said in the after episode commentary (if you have AMC+ you get it as soon as the episode ends) it wouldn’t make sense if the women were the ones pulling the ropes up and having Carol pull Daryl up and Vice versa.

Exactly and no one would bat an eye. I’m full team Negan here he’s trying to prove himself the only thing he did wrong was bring Glenn up but Maggie needed to hear it.

@@BlueSkullX no its not. Maggie or the group doesn't owe Negan anything. He did more harm to the group than the good things he did over the last seasons. Just because he is a sympathetic character now doesn't mean that the other characters have to forgive him for all of his inhumane acts.

Thing is Negan does not deserve to be saved by Maggie. On the other hand Negan owe Maggie to save her for the things he did.

And Negan has no right to say otherwise. Whatever is Maggie's choice, it will be justified. But Negan fans are completely ignoring that part because of their love for him.

Negan is 75% redeemed. He will never be 100% redeemed. Otherwise he would be boring.

The second episode clears it up pretty well.

I am tired of Negan saving people's kids to redeem himself. lol This is the final season, people need to start dying. lol

The thing with Negan, and I'm not saying he is in the good here, is that he doesn't want to beg anymore. In the last episode, he didn't come back to show them anymore that he's good. He made peace with himself by burning Lucille, and now he knows he's trustworthy. Therefore, in his mind, he doesn't want to show anything, he doesn't need to change, others need to change and accept that he's a gold asset. It seems like he's begging because in fact he just doesn't want to be played with and dragged trough the mud like a dog like he said in this episode. He's ok with dying, but at least to be killed plain and simple, not to be played with as Maggie's toy. He even said to her "Let's get it done, here and now" and brought Glenn into his words to push her. He's like this now: "I am trustworthy, so you guys need to accept that. I ain't begging anyone anymore. You Maggie, you need to accept me as I am. If not, kill me now and here, but do not try and play with me. I am not dying on your terms. Or if not, just shut the fuck up and don't be an asshole when I'm clearly helping." And as we all know, Negan is also an opportunist, he's a survivor. He's changed in the fact that he wouldn't kill Maggie. But he saw an opportunity. He thinks that she won't make it 99%, and decided to not help her. He thinks that he got rid of a threat. A woman who litteraly said to him "I can kill you whenever I feel like". So that's why, it was in fact a wrong choice for Negan to do that. He did wrong. But I also think it was a good choice of writing, because as I see his character now, he would do that wrong choice. It fits his character. He still has flaws, he still does dumb stuff, he's Negan. And as a funny paralel, many of us, at least as childs, used to this type of "I don't want to change for anyone". I still remember my childhood when I did something wrong and in my mind I was like "I want to change, I did wrong. I will clean the mess I did. " But then my mom was coming, and called that wrong thing on me "Are you stupid? Clean that up" and I was like "No, I don't want to do what you say. I'm not changing for you". Negan does the same with he others. If he thinks he did something wrong, then he'll do right. But if others are coming to him treating him like a piece of shit, he won't try to change for their sake.

Basically, what I see happening right now is that they ended his redemption arc last episode, when he realised he changed. Now it's more like an arc for the others to accept him as he is, but he is doing dumb stuff and makes that very hard. He doesn't understand anymore that he also needs to let go of his beliefs and try.

I dosent matter, Negan saving Maggie there doesent change their relationship, why would Negan risk his neck for someone who just said 5 mins before was going to kill him? i simply dont understand that logic. it is the same principles of Maggies decision to not save that other dude in the next episode.

You're right. Like if someone wrongs you, just because they've gotten past it & feel like they've had enough suffering. Doesn't mean you've gone past it or should forgive. Let's remember, Negan CHOSE to stay in Alexandria, this is the price.
