Yeah he did a good job saving Ben from Lilly, I'd still accept Lilly in my group again if we can in season 3, Doug was a good guy, Carley was more helpful when it comes to guns, but in arguments like this one, Doug was very helpful, he was like Luke, trying to fix things, but he wasn't good in guns, It's sad that they both had to die, but Doug's death was better
Doug is better at stealth distraction, a gun can cause loud noise and massive distraction, but a laser pointer can cause a blinding distraction and no noise. Laser pointers are better.
I know right? Well except me because I choose Doug because he told me I was a ''Great guy'' but not just he said that, he's logical and resourceful, but of course I will choose Carley.
Kenny had a reason though. They were trapped in a meat locker, no weapons, no way out, no medicine, and Larry was having a heart attack that was even worse than the first since he collapsed completely and was unconscious. That kind of heart attack is one of the most severe and its through sheer luck a person's heart gets restarted after an attack like that, especially without the aid of a defibrillator. A person's chances of their heart being restarted drops every second. The only thing I would have done differently was trying to restart his heart for four minutes with Kenny at the ready should that time pass without successfully reviving him. The longest a person survived with their heart stopped was four minutes, no one was ever successfully revived after four minutes, even with the help of a defibrillator. Its one of the things that sucked with this game was it had a bad tendency on occasion of making you choose between two extremes and never giving you a more moderate choice that makes much more sense than the two extreme options. Lets also not forget though that Larry is no better than Kenny considering that one of the things he proposed back at the pharmacy was ironically smashing Duck's head in. He met the very fate he tried to condemn Duck to. Lastly Lilly had no reason to do what she did. Instead of calming down and coming to a decision with the entire group at a later date she chose to just kill Ben/Carley on a whim. There was no pressure, no immediate danger, nothing.
+Spencer Bowden Jane instigated that whole fight by exploiting the one thing Kenny cared about most and basically the only thing left he had to care about, the only thing driving him to even keep on living. Clementine and AJ. She started it and then escalated it by pulling a knife on Kenny and cutting his chest with a knife, taking it to that next level. She wanted Kenny out of the picture but knew Clementine would never go along with that, so she tried to manipulate the situation to make Kenny look like a bad guy, giving her an excuse to off him without angering Clementine for doing so. That was her plan anyway. She could have stopped that fight at any time by telling the truth, but she wanted to kill him and AJ was the tool she used to try and get the excuse to do so without looking like she was the instigator of that fight to Clementine. Depending on the player's choices, things might not pan out the way she hoped it would. She is a selfish person that is stone cold and not afraid of doing whats necessary to survive, to get her way, or to get what she wants, no matter how morally questionable or wrong the method may be. She is skilled at manipulation and knows when its best to use that instead of a more obvious and direct approach. She was selfish all the way to the end, if you choose her she again acts selfishly one final time by killing herself because of a pregnancy, leaving Clementine to fend for herself. At least Kenny cared about Clementine and AJ so much that he made himself living bait to ensure their survival after the car crash. She clearly had a more pleasant time during her time with Kenny than she did with Jane. The three of them basically were a family.
Ghoffman91 dude a lot of this is twisted. Yes Jane did instigate that whole situation but she did not intend to kill him. Jane did give Kenny multiple chances to back down from that fight and every time she slide cut him it was out of self defense and in a non vital area. Every time Jane tried to stop the fight Kenny just used it as a chance to attack. And given how she killed Vitali she knows how to use that knife to kill. Also have we forgotten she had Arvos gun. She could have shot him at any point but chose not to use it. And biggest factor Aj wasn’t dead. If Kenny had taken any time to mourn or think things through or even attempt to look for the body he would have found out. But no Kenny doesn’t act because he cares about anyone every action he has taken has been to channel his frustrations on losing Katjaa and duck. And every time he does this someone else has to pay the price. How Lilly and Kenny behaved are no different from each other. Lilly lost a loved one got depressed and went off the rails and shot an innocent survivor. Kenny lost loved ones and used them as an excuse to use anything near him as an emotional punching bag and pretty much was the whole reason Jane instigated that situation. So in a wayJane was not entirely at fault. Kenny had a pretty good hand in the events leading up to the fight too.
so if u save Doug back at the Drug store, she(Lily) meant to aim at Ben but Doug saved him, if u save Carley, Lily will shoot her for standing up to Ben. Ben is stupid, back in the RV he said "maybe we should vote." then when Lily gets on his case he says the votes arent nessisary.
xAaliyahHoltVlogsx *BEN IS A TEENAGER. HIS ACTIONS IN A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE ARE BOTH WELL WRITTEN AND REALISTIC AS FUCK. BEN IS A CHILD WHO WAS FORCED INTO THIS CHAOTIC TIME EVENT IN HUMANITY. SHOW SOME MERCY ON THE BOY PEOPLE.*
In my opinion, this scene is more fucked mainly because she didn't need Carley roasting her to pull out the gun, she pulled out the gun here unprovoked, this ultimately makes this woman a scary ass character since she can just mentally snap regardless
Watching this scene again, I just love Lily's reaction to Doug's death, just pure shock and horror followed by that slow head shake as she's probably thinking ' What have I done ?'. I know a lot of people hate her for Carley's death, but I think Doug's hits hard too for different reason. Lily didn't hold any hate for Doug like she may have had for Carly, she genuinely looked remorseful for his death.
SPOILER ALERT: If I think about it, BEN is the whole reason why 5 lives went to shit. If it wasn't for BEN, Lily wouldn't have gotten paranoid about the whole thievery incident at the motor inn which was caused by BEN making a deal with the Bandits that lured in walkers which bit Duck! Carley/Doug wouldn't have been killed because Lily wouldn't have been overly angry in the first place for BEN taking the medicine! With Duck dying from the bite due to the zombies lured in from the bandits that BEN made deals with, Katjaa his mother commits suicide! Lily gets left behind because she murders an innocent, yet this wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for BEN!!!! THERE SHOULD'VE BEEN A "THROW BEN OF THE TRAIN" OPTION WHEN HE ADMITTED!!!!
Except one of the reason's Lily got that way is because her father was killed right in front of her eyes. Furthermore, it's actually up for speculation if Ben either delayed the inevitable or made things worse.
Amnesian Bro The duck part I can't really put it on Ben. Those bandits would have most likely invaded regardless if Ben didn't steal the supplies and gave them it. Lilly chose to act like a dictator and got herself kicked out.
Ben101 Carley takes a life too in episode 3 as well. She covers one of the sides during the Motel raid. So that's hardly a difference. Doug probably wouldn't even have helped that much after episode 3 though while Carley still has a good shot. It's like choosing between Andrea or Eugene. One of them has a really good shot while the other is just really smart.
So many people hate Ben. He's a coward, I can agree. He is my favorite character, though. He didn't want to get killed, and he didn't. But at a price. He did try to protect the group by giving the bandits supplies, and he tried to do his best. I wish there was a rare chance that he could stay alive... He was the most well written character. He showed what most of us would become in a situation like this.
Lily's face explains how everyone feels when they get a character killed. Examples: "oh shit, i commited a whoopsie" " oopsie poopsie, i did a whoopsie " " oh fuck " " shit " "oh no oh darn oh fuck oh diddly darn dee."
When doug gets to heaven... Carley: Oh hey Doug. How'd you die? Doug: Well bandits raided the Motel we went to and then we had to escape with the RV. Lily thought it was Ben, so we began arguing. Kenny hit a walker so we all got outside and argued more. Then, as Kenny removed and killed the walker.. Lily pointed the gun at Ben and I was like "oh shit. NO!" so I grabbed his arm and pulled him out of the way, throwing him and getting myself shot in the head. Carley: I've been watching and I've seen that he is indeed, a screw up. Why'd you save him? Care for him? Doug: Well no, but actually yes.
(Post season 1) Doug & Carley: Hello Lee Lee: I saved Clem but I got bit in the process Doug: Sorry Man,shame we couldn't help you Carly: Ben is doing a lot better Ben: Look If I knew what would have happened I would have never taken the deal with the bandits. Lee Doug Carley: We can't change it now, might as well accept are situation Lee: I now got to keep an eye on Clementine I still have to talk to her in death.
@grandinquisitor8335 Kenny: ;) Did someone miss me? Kat: Kenny what happened to your eye? Kenny: some bastard injured me. Lee: Great to see you again Ken. Carley and Doug: Where's Clementine? Kenny: She's alive. Lee: :) Ben: Hey Kenny. Kenny: What's this shithead doing here?
Doug actually went out like a hero. He even got that pause of mourning. Carleys was just gut-wrenching. Carley likes you? Check. "Carley will remember that"? Check. Popped out of nowhere? Bingo. No pause, just instant disarmament by lee.
Doug clearly tugs at Ben's arm so Ben would not get shot by Lilly. I'm still upset that Doug died, he was honestly the sweetest character. Rest in peace, Doug. You did well.
Carleys death always hit harder for me because she was innocent, she is getting accused for it by lily she stands up for herself and Ben and calls Lilly out on her bs and she just get bopped outta no where
What I like about this game is that they kill off most of the characters that have a lot of potential to kind of change and the first time they do act different that's when they die, which is great because it shows not all the loved characters will survive, but some might go on farther than others do to their role, added effects/drama, or maybe as a conflict
what really would've been interesting is what if the first person you saved went on to raise clementine for you, imagine doug or carly taking care of clem, doug using noise and devices to take out hoards or run away while carly, thought clem to shoot and use different guns.
The only thing I hate about this game is the fate of certain characters like Ben, Doug and Carley if you save them they just die anyways just making our previous choice completely useless if you save someone you have to choose whether the person dies not the game itself
Just out of curiosity, if you save Doug do you no longer have the option to tell the group that Lee was on his way to prison? I know with Carly one of her main points was encouraging Lee to tell people about his past. It's just I've never seen that option with Doug, is it even possible?
Sadly no. Honestly I feel like Telltale should've given more incentive to keeping Doug because Carley gets more screentime for you to get attached to her in Episode 1 and like you mentioned, you can only tell people about your past if you save Carley
Bemi Atto ooooh then tbh what’s the point of Doug? He has no striking characteristics, just like you said if they gave more incentive to keep Doug like making him a closer friend to Lee or exploring more on his intelligence
i’ve always liked doug more than carley tbh. even when i was younger and seeing this when i was younger i didn’t really care now than i’m older i actually shed a tear when my homie doug died like that he was much better than carley. who agrees?
Don't remember Doug since it's been 6 years and he was finally referenced again in the latest season/episode. Fucking Kenny should've just listened and played along with Lilly's stupid vote :P
In this scenario after she kills Doug instead of Carley Lilly had the nerve to mention Lee's past when he killed the senator. Although Kenny didn't care and he actually saw Lilly shoot Carley in cold blood.
From a purely objective standpoint, Carley is more valuable a companion than Doug, as she was a good shot with a gun, was fair and open-minded (and if not for Lilly killing her, she could have begun an actual romantic relationship with Lee, since not long before her death she could actually end up kissing Lee on the cheek with the right dialogue options), and wasn't afraid to point out when someone was crossing a line (though that last bit ultimately gets her killed). Doug on the other hand lacks Carley's reliability in a life-or-death situation, particularly when it comes to fighting off Walkers, and is just more of a peacekeeper in the group. I would always choose Carley over Doug, as with all of the Walkers around, having someone like Carley around is infinitely better to having someone like Doug around. As characters, however, both Carley and Doug are quite likable, and had it been possible, yes, it would have been better if you could have saved them both, but that simply wasn't an option.
+gamester512 Hardly disagree with that, even if she has a gun you never directly needed her help. While doug actually saved Ben's life.. So he was probably more useful (even tho if he's dead) then Carley would ever be
+JohnRenziVlogs Or you could play it smart and tell him about your past when you get the chance to at the motel. I did and he was cool with it then and now.
Eyeless Jack cuz they fuck us over for example HE FUCKING DEALED WITH THE BANDITS AND GOT KENNYS FAMILY KILLED also Sarah's just a whiny bitch who is a serious problem to the group
What I find ironic is people keep riding Lily for her decisions. Rationing food, taking St.John's food to go, and believing Ben was the double agent. She made decisions that in time turns out to be right.... Doesn't justify killing someone the way she did...but you have to understand she was going through a SERIOUS grieving situation at the time, so she acted on impulse and made a horrible mistake. Effing A Lily, why did you have to freaking ruin everything!
Lee's killing was a killing of honor, defending his own manly virtue and the womanly virtue of his wife. Lee never killed someone who was a friggin' HERO like Doug. A man who was such a saint that he'd put his life on the line, even sacrifice it, for an ignorant little punk he barely knew.
I am so dumbfounded about this..idk if it's Carley's fault or Telltale. They could have saved them both. Literally. Carley could have kicked the damn walker with her foot but nope. Or, Carley, instead of wasting 2 more ammos on the walkers that weren't even close to her, they or she could have told Doug to duck since the walkers on Doug didn't have their full hands on him yet cause there were barricades. But nope.
I really wish there was some way to save these two in episode one and in episode three I wish something like clem gives carney her clip and Lee goes to save Doug and in episode three lee pushes lily out of the way and carley/doug lives
oh no, I didn't save dough and I was so sad when Carley died...I knew when I was investigating that it was all Ben's fault...but I see that there's no way to have Ben killed or kicked...that's so unfair :(
its Lillys fault for pulling a gun on a helpless kid, be mad at him for being scared, sure, but resorting to murder over something like that is over the top
How sad to lose Lilly. She was tough and had the right skills, and she was right about Ben. I was hoping that her and Lee would become a thing. I had hope the same for Carly, but I accidentally saved Doug instead (I thought I could save them both).
youre seeing things lmao, and to the guy that said because ben gave the raiders drugs that its his fault, i say, blame the chick trying to execute a terrified high schooler, not the kid that tried to keep a dangerous group away from himself and his friends, mainly himself, but the good of the group was also a factor in his decision making
@Monodam • he was a scared teenager and was doing what made sense to him, people really hate ben and don't seem to remember hes in high school, hes not that smart and a coward, he did his best lol
Saving Doug or Carley is such a hard choice. Carley went out of the drugstore almost immediately and saved them when they got surrounded by walkers the first time they arrived. Doug saved Carley from being attacked by her turned colleague. To me, without Doug, Carley wouldn't be there to save them. Duck would've been bitten/eaten by a walker. The gang might survive but they may lose themselves and that leaves Lee and Clem. Carley Saves Count: 5 (Pre-Drugstore) 2 (Clem and Lee when she went to the toilet) Doug Saves Count: 1 (Pre-Group Introduction) Everything Carley does. 1 (helped getting the keys to the Pharmacist, Larry) So it was Doug that needs saving prior to knowing Lee. But in the long run Carley would be useful with her being a sharpshooter. And throw Larry out. He's the reason they had to leave the drugstorr early and had either Carley or Doug killed.
Unlikely. It's possible she died, because in the comics she was a part of the Governor's army, and ended up fleeing into the prison when it got overrun by walkers.
Even if lilly shot Ben here, I still would have left her out. She went to off to kill one of her own group members over a disagreement, doesn't matter if she killed Doug on accident. She still tried to kill someone because they disagreed with her.
It wasn't over a disagreement, though. The traitor was the reason why the group’s medicine was going missing, why they were held hostage, and why they lost everything. And Lilly likely would've just kicked the traitor out if they'd confessed, but Ben never did.
