Hey Fam, hope everyone is doing well out there. What an insane episode huh? If you didn't know, we do our best to avoid TWD news and we NEVER watch clips of the next episodes just so we can go into the episode as blind as possible. They love to give away their own massive spoilers so we try and avoid things. We knew Danai was going to be done with the show soon and after watching the episode, I spend two seconds on social media to you see it was her last episode... wow!!! She's AMAZING!!!

Watching this episode just gave me chills. 1st The intro I thought they uploaded the wrong one. And kept returning everyday to check if the fixed it. Then the whole plot twist on if she didn’t save andrea was amazing 🤯. Years in the making

To me this episode represented the choices that we make that determine our fate. The hallucination induced by the drugs given to her showed her the possible path she could have taken if she had made the choice of ignoring Andrea's cries for help. When she finally escapes and has Virgil pinned down, she makes the choice of not killing him and giving him mercy which then leads her to the storage room with Rick's boots and then later to the picture and message he left behind. If she had killed him, she might have never discovered that Rick may be alive and set out to find him. In the final scene it shows her remembering Rick making the choice to save her which determined her current fate now, so she makes the same decision to save the two individuals asking for her help.

The flashback used the Butterfly Effect, where one small change (Michonne leaving Andrea to die) leads to a multitude of big changes. I'm wondering if that was foreshadowing the entire episode. Either her meeting Virgil or deciding to find Rick being the small change that could now lead to huge impacts on everyone else. Can't wait to see what happens!

My guess is first movie will be all Rick. What happened and where he has been. Maybe why he hasn't been back. 2nd movie michonne and him will reunite. 3rd movie will wrap everything up. Daryl judith and whoever is still alive in the main show will all reunite. Maybe even the people from fear. Morgan or whatever. Wrap the whole thing up. That's how I'd do it anyway. End all the shows right. At the same time. In the 3rd movie. Don't milk it longer than needed.

Scott Gimple and Kirkman both stated they will continue to film to at least season 15+ they aren't the ones "milking" the TV show its AMC. The want to set up the ending nicely and have free ideas of what to do and where to end it.

This episode was a rollercoaster of emotions in every way, one of my favorite eps of all time ngl...it was entertaining, it was sad, it was confusing at first but it all comes together, it brought back old characters and old scenes from the show that were altered, one of the coolest alternate reality sequences ever too, and Rick's movies are gonna be insane...bravo to Danai and Angela!

Michonne speech’s about Ricks group killing the saviors was to me showing how she was brainwashed by Negan in this possible alternate path. The saviors terrorized Hilltop, forced them to give them supplies and had photos of bashed heads on their walls. Negan used the false equivalence to manipulate his own people. What that whole sequence actually reminded me of was Judith telling Mary that she just met the wrong people first. Michonne at that dark time could have easily been swayed by the wrong person. Luckily, she met Andrea first.

aeris44 I’ve been saying a long time that outpost attack is what sets Rick apart from Negan. Negan may have “tormented” people as you say but he certainly never murdered an entire group of people in their sleep. He could’ve EASILY eliminated our entire group. Agree or don’t but he “valued” people to an extent.

Killing them in their sleep is no more evil then what they have been doing to innocent people for months. They beat a 15 year old boy to death to get Hilltop under their thumb. By killing them in their sleep was possibly the safest way to attack them anyway.

Upon learning the actress was leaving, I leaned toward the idea that she would be leaving by trying to track down Rick. That hallucination sequence was crazy, but I gotta say, every time they bring up the fact that Rick killed Negan's men, there's never a mention of why he did it. Rick had done it to rescue the kidnapped Hilltop man. The Saviors at the outpost demanded that Gregory die in exchange for the kidnapped dude, so once again, the Saviors struck first. Naturally Negan was pissed a lot of his men were slaughtered so yeah it started chaos, but Rick didn't roll up there to kill those Saviors for no reason. He did underestimate them though, so in a way he didn't quite know who they were; what kind of people he was dealing with. But anyways, great send off for Michonne.

I interpreted Michonne's visions as the fear she had in the back of her mind that she was as much as a "bad guy" as those who they fought as enemies. It would've taken a few changes in circumstances to put her with Negan.

The “confusing scenes” were to show the audience/fans what would have happened if Michone never saved Andrea. If she never saves Andrea she never meets rick and the rest of the group and if she never meets rick I’m assuming this would have been her story.

I get why you guys missed what the whole trip scene was about. You didn’t realize the Andrea scene was a complete change in one of her pivotal life decisions and therefor didn’t realize everything after was a “what if” of that new decision. She had a realization during it that then lead to her sparing Vergil’s life. She realized her sparing Andreas life lead to her current life where she meet Rick, so maybe sparing Vergil’s life could have positive effects down the road (which it did because it lead to the discovery of the clues about Rick) basically Michonne had a “my mercy prevails over my wrath” moment. I just wanted to 100% explain the meaning behind these scenes because I get that it can be confusing as the Andrea scene happened so long ago.

We dont get Carl and Michonne, or michonne or Daryl and Michone . Every decision. Good or bad made that family. The family we love for better or worse. And judith sending her out to bring back the missing piece of that family is everything and perfect HOPEFUL exit. So it still feels deep to me.

Guys it was a “what if” scenario. She was having visions of what her life would’ve been like if she had never met Rick. How are you not figuring this out? It has nothing to do with guilt I don’t think.

Yeah it definitely wasn’t guilt (maybe subconsciously a little with the whole murdering the whole outpost) but for the most part they definitely missed the mark. I think they just didn’t realize the whole Andrea scene was a complete change in her decision and therefor didn’t realize everything after was the consequences to that change in decision

Whelp, re-watching the full ep with you guys changed how I feel. I was very ambivalent. Had a list of issues. But your intensity allowed me a new POV. Dream sequence felt like it had no purpose, but now I see the message as: choices. The choices we make and how it shapes "What we Become". She put herself on the other side of **what if** ? What if she didn't help Andrea and went down a path where she became the victim of all the bad choices she made that hurt people. They did leave someone on the side of the road in S3. They did kill a building full of people in their sleep. I don't know the purpose of that introspection, I hope there is one. Maybe we will learn it in the movies. But thank you for the space to evolve my take. That helped me see it differently. ps But Judith --- Cailey Fleming is amazing! AMAZING. Give her an Emmy.

there's a strange theory going around that this new group of people are connected to the Settlers from Fear The Walking Dead. in the show, the leader of the Settlers, Virginia mentions coming from a big group. When you zoom in on the people at the end of the episode you can see a ton of people horseback, which is something the Settlers have in common with them.

The opening minutes with Andrea not only set up the whole episode, but it showed how Michonne was feeling guilty about the losses she endured. That intensified with the drugs. Had she CHOSEN to let Andrea die and met Negan BEFORE Rick, she could have easily become an evil character or at least an avenging one for Negan against Rick's group. She worked it out in her mind and chose compassion (Carl's Way). Helping the two frightened characters at the end of the episode in her quest to find and bring home "the great man". Yes, I think this story-line will continue in the Walking Dead movie. More than likely she has finished with the show, until the final episodes of the last season.

She's seeing how one decision can ripple through your life and you might end up with the "bad" guys thinking they are the good guys, and that actually maybe they are in one perspective. So the thing that is left is the choice to be vengeful or merciful.

I got high hopes for those movies coming up. Though, I do have a small theory of a plot idea they could use. The symbol on these helicopters flying around (ex: the one that took Rick) has 3 rings, likely supporting the idea of three separate, powerful communities that have been trying to unify people. What if Rick was found by one group, and Michonne just happened along another group; both are part of the big trio communities. Say these groups have misunderstandings and crisis hits, causing a war between these 2 communities while the third shrinks away and focuses on what might become a S11 plotline with our communities. With Rick and Michonne stuck on opposing sides of a massive war, trying to stop these groups from killing each other, while our home communities (Alexandria, Oceanside, and the stragglers - Hilltop/Kingdom peops) revolts against the third one and tries to overthrow a tyrannical government. I've thought hard on this. TWD has slowly been on the climb in societal structuring. 1st: small group - gang wars for the most part 2nd: one community - initial recovery from the fallout of civilization 3rd: Multi-community warfare - alliances are made between major groups in order to fight for their way of life 4th: intercommunity relations/philosophical dominance - decide to move with nature's "intent" or rebuild civilization anew 5th: the next stage in our story - the recreation/destruction of a new Nation. Seem interesting?

I absolutely loved how they included old scenes but with Michener in that place. Like when in season 3 (it think) Carl and Rick were on a run and saw that lone survivor chasing after them begging them to take him with them. But they drove off because the last times they took people in it didn’t end well. I loved how it showed Michonne in the place of that man. But it also made me sad thinking of that possibility.

Michonne hasn’t stopped thinking about rick for one second and I’m sure the pain of losing someone sometimes you wish you never met them to begin with. In her hallucinations michonne got a glimpse of her life if she never met Andrea or never met rick and the others. Afterwards with finding ricks boots is more of sign that’s she’s had to find him. She’s wants that feeling again so holds on to hope and give people a chance just as rick did for her.

Negan did more than just kill Glen and Abraham for me to dislike him. He continued to kill and kidnap people, took their food, weapons, and medicine. He also didn't seem really remorseful, just defeated, especially when he realized the the Saviors were gone.

That whole drug trip was to show how much of a different path someone might take making one different choice. I think that played into her speech towards the end as far as not killing Virgil.

The outpost was a recon mission by our group. If you recall, it was in the meeting with Gregory when our group found out that Negan "owned" The Hilltop, that Daryl said our group would take out the Saviors and then Maggie negotiated with Gregory. Negan and the Saviors were a threat to Alexandria and they showed that when at the end of the credits of Season 6 Ep 8 (also, we saw part of this scene at the opening of Ep 9/No Way Out), Daryl, Sasha and Abraham were accosted on the road by the biker Saviors. If Daryl had not blown them away, the lead biker would have killed Sasha and Abraham and made Daryl take them to Alexandria where they would have taken over Alexandria, just like The Hilltop and The Kingdom. So, our group didn't just blindly kill the Saviors for no reason, they were trying to protect Alexandria from the inevitable. …. PEACE to ALL … and STAY SAFE AND HEALTHY.
