Ladies and Gentlemen, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live's Series Finale was extremely disappointing. Overall, I am really mixed on it, but if I can sum it up, I'm mostly disappointed.
I have no idea what the future holds for TWD Universe anymore which is a shame and a majority of what we will talk about in this review.

Here's why the walking dead became so called woke or a bad show Amc + plus is Turing itself into a walking dead universe channel to stream like diseny + did with marvle it sucks because what happens is its made to binge muptlie stories at once......and we all know amc dosent have the budget to cover more than one story to two complete stories at a time but like game of thrones or lost by a certain point in the story there's so many questions that nothing can be answered in complete satisfaction

I like your list alot. Im so glad some one called out this "rich and michonne can do anything" BS. here is what i would add 1. Rick surviving the grenade blast he took the walkers out with. NOT BELIEVABLE 2. Michonne walking around freely in the CRM facilities after she was declared dead. NOT BELIEVABLE 3. michonne finding the dossier in the cats anus. NOT BELIEVABLE 4. Judith and RJ leaving the common wealth on their own. NOT BELIEVABLE 5. Rick and Michonne some how not going to alexandria first and they went to the common wealth which they didnt even know about ????? NOT BELIEVABLE 6. Thorne suddenly saying beale was wrong ??????? why ? what happened? what Epiphany did she have in those few seconds where she would change her entire opinion ?

The fact that Scott Gimple has not been fired yet baffles me. This dude screwed World Beyond, the Savior Arc and hyped us up for an endgame villain that was taken out in only a few minutes. The fact that Commonwealth and Savior conflict was shown in greater detail than CRM is sad. If they even do the crossover series, I’m not sure what story there will be to tell due to the Dead City timeline and Madam Genet’s likely downfall.

yeh my hopes for the crossover kind of died... now they would have to introduce yet another big bad threat thats somehow bigger than CRM, it wouldnt play very well... i think the best we can hope for is like a mini reunion at the end of daryl show in the commonwealth then they should do like a hour and a half epilogue special that sort of follows the comics that does a time skip and show rick pretty much the de facto leader of all communities, they used the crc resources to bomb zombies and lead them to culling factories / use them for energy etc

He didn't get nerfed with his arm being cut off at all. He actually gained an advantage with his new arm, which wound up saving him a couple of times. It also had the knife that would spring out of it, which would be very useful in TWD universe. His new arm was so much better than his actual arm. If I were in his situation, and I found out I could have an arm like that if I amputated my arm, I would probably go for it despite how crazy it seems, and how much the amputation would hurt, because it would be totally worth it in the end. It also takes away a main part of the body where people often get bit. It's a total advantage. The only down side is not being able to really move the fingers, but that's not an issue in combat since he had the knife. It would just make every day life a little frustrating at first. @@Mukatutu

The problem isn't the episode, nor the number of episodes per season, because Chernobyl is a limited series and this show is almost perfect. TWD's problem is only one and it's called Gimple, how do you still not realize that?. Dead City S2 and Daryl Dixon S2 will continue to have the same issues as before. As long as fans keep to tolerating and "eat" this type of content, nothing will change, twdu will continue to sink into mediocrity.

I understand and share your disappointment. It started off SO strong-even managed to get my husband to sit down and watch again after he stopped watching back in S8. I could have looked past most of what disappointed me-the pacing, the unbelievability, lack of Beale and his rushed death…but the level of cringe and immersion breaking with lines like “Love doesn’t die” (not once but TWICE), “are you the brave man?” and “I bELiEVeD” really killed those final moments me. 😂 I know the majority of the fandom is clowning on RJ…and I do feel bad for the kid considering it was his first acting gig (or so I heard) but wow, whoever thought casting him as the son of the two most important characters to TWDU really screwed that one up. I don’t blame the actor whatsoever…that’s all on Gimple, casting and the writers. Like you said, I’m satisfied enough with the ending we got…I’m just not sure I’m satisfied with how we got there.

i remember telling folks way back in 2019/2020 to temper their expectations in terms of all the crm shit. i knew two things - firstly, they had no clue what to do with it.. that was obvious for almost a decade. and secondly, once they'd settled on the crm as the backdrop for rick's journey, i knew they were gonna fuck it up somewhat.. it was clear from the on-set that there wasnt enough meat on that arc, and they were never going to spend enough time on it. so, yeah. none of this is surprising to me. but having said that.. hopefully they stick to this thing being a one season venture, and airdrop the characters into the final few laps of the daryl dixon show.. no more than that.

Wasn’t this about Rick and Michonne’s love story? Not the CRM. Obviously yes the CRM is apart of the story and all but if you really look into it, this was mainly about Rick and Michonne reuniting and running back to their families, CRM was just a problem factor like “Walkers”, they were a side plot from what I see. I’m saying this because we never got deep scenes of the CRM and their soldiers, they were only shown when Rick was there or one of the main characters and that’s bc the CRM isn’t the story! The love story is the key and it’s exactly what we got. 1x4 is not a filler, it focuses on the main plot which is them both, it’s pretty obvious if you look at how the season was made. Although if you were looking at it the way you were then of course you’ll be dissatisfied but you have to know that the CRM was not the main plot. It’s like the CDC in S1, it wasn’t the main plot, it was a side thing, while the main plot was about our characters finding a safe haven and all that.

I didn't feel it rushed. And once again they didn't take down the CRM, it still exists, they took out Beale and the 3k elites who were going to destroy Portland and expose what they did to the CRP just like what they said they would do since episode 3 and reiterated to Jadis just last episode. Since episode 1 they talked about all the big heads of the CRM being at the Cascadia Base, so how exactly was that not explained ? You asked why did Thorne have a mask and the others not ? Thorne who just figured out what they might have been doing versus the one sitting in front not knowing anything ? They took of the mask because MIchonne told him while they were under the tent that it will be fine in a few minutes ? HOw does she knows that ? Well like you said she was attacked by it before and saw how deadly but also how quickly it evaporated in the atmosphere after being released. Maybe you should pay more attention to those details and the dialogue. It's okay to be disappointed but to pretend that it was overly rushed or that they did what they didn't do is disingenuous ;) Also the whole idea of the series was not the CRM, it was the reunion and return home of Rick and MIchonne.

Rick and Michonne got their lives back and none of them were killed off for shock value like they always do. They got reunited with their kids and actually got a happy ending that they deserved after all the shit they've been through. It didn't need to be sad or bittersweet at all. No need to drag out the CRM as a threat for another season or two. They wouldn't win against them in a head on fight which is why they had to sabotage them from the inside. Beale was the only rogue element in the CRM and with him gone the group got reformed like Okafor wanted and they'll use their resources and manpower for something that'll actually change the world for the better. All because of Rick and Michonne. So tbh, this ending was perfect for them. There would be no point in dragging it out and further threatening Rick and Michonne's plan of reuniting with their kids or putting their home in danger even after all of that. It would be repetitive. Just let it end. They'll probably wrap up the other two spinoffs after their second seasons now

I totally agree with you. However, Scott Gimple is horrible with endings and I knew that this would be unfulfilling. I think episode 4 was necessary, but episode 5 was so unnecessary. They wrapped up everything too easily here. It was like they were rushing to an undeserved ending. I couldn't believe how simply they closed things out. The Echelon briefing was a joke. After I heard what Biel said I thought, "That's what changed Thorne into a true believer? That's what made Jadis want to kill Gabriel and risk it all for the CRM?" What a joke! They should have done a season 12 for the main show and took their time to develop the CRM and come to a satisfying conclusion. The actor who plays RJ seemed like he was in pain trying to deliver those lines. The story could have worked and it was a good idea but the execution was poor. It needed more time.

You need to rewatch it because you missed some basic references, particularly the broadcast at the end where it said that the regular army was not involved just this rogue sector. If you didn't understand what episode 4 meant then yeah I could see why you are missing the entire plot. Check out Reckless Reels he gives a good breakdown of the entire series.

While I understand it may feel rushed for some I personally really liked the finale and thought the pace overall was just about right without dragging out too much They had slowly set up the stakes so nicely throughout the year and we got to visually see just how big the stakes were and while it would have been cool to have a big action scene I’m glad Rick and Michonne dealt with the CRM in a smart and believable way rather than having a gun fight against countless enemies Yeah I would have liked to see more Beale but the more I think about it the more I like that he was actually a short term villain, Terry is such a great actor and to me was able to make such an impact because he was so short lived and didn’t overstay While I would have liked to see Rick and Michonne reunite with everyone, I don’t mind that been left to my imagination But I do like that despite the fact they blew them up, the CRM isn’t completely gone and there can be opportunities to explore the fallout of all the changes happening and with everything that happened in the finale There was no wasted time and no filler and they dealt with the threat in a way that made sense and with the way it ended there’s deffo room to explore more things if they decide to do that but at the same time it closes the show nicely and wraps it up in a way where they could just leave it like that After all the build up of the CRM throughout the years I felt like I deffo got more than enough of the army in this show but still kept it solely focused on Rick and Michonne which made sense with when they said this series was a love story about them two Overall I do think this is one of the best seasons in TWDU that I’ve seen in a long time and whatever happens next, I’m excited either way, especially for Daryl season 2

Honestly the season finale of season 8 should’ve been the end. Even tho I hated how/that Carl died and with most of that and season 7 being shit, in the end it was a fitting and satisfying conclusion, and they made the end it makes sense even with Carl dying. It was probably the only season finale of the show that felt like it could’ve ended right there. Yea as much as I liked the other comic book arcs with the whispers & commonwealth being put into the show it wasn’t really needed/matter after Carl died(since he was really the future/legacy of the story which they change to Judith).

This was a DISASTER. What a joke. This episode should have happened 3 years from now. Gimple has no idea what it's doing and it's official. I'm just kind of done. I can't keep going knowing how little the writers care about how everything clicks together. They teased the CRM for YEARS. They teased this story for YEARS. It was TOO easy. Some fans will get a kick out of this but anybody who thinks a bit more and/or iis a writer like myself just knows this was fucked up. I can't believe I'm saying this but Dead City and Daryl Dixon are much better shows, just by refusing to rush the damn thing into 6 episodes. I can't believe they killed Beale. And what does that say? Is Beale's son going to retaliate? Where is everybody else? No Morgan reunion? That's... it?! The CRM is just good guys now? What a rip.
@vincentnguyen1995
@vincentnguyen1995 3 месяца назад
I thought the first two episodes were great and had good pacing, despite being fast. Then it slows down a lot to where we barely have screentime with General Beale and the CRM to establish them as a threat to everyone. Terry O Quinn's casting was so wasted after hyped up as the ultimate antagonist to the series, likely necessitating everyone to team up to defeat him and the CRM. Also how the CRM (Beale's red stripes) is defeated is meme worthy because the "strongest military on the planet" barely had security that would have prevented their leader from being assassinated and their chemical weapons (which is stored by all the troops) had no one guarding them in case of sabotage. It was so rushed and anticlimatic. Sure the reunion was great (but still too short) but all the hype of the CRM being the most dangerous antagonists was just wasted as they would have been the perfect final antagonist to end the franchise.

You obviously missed the point of the show and why they decided to even make it in the first place. The whole idea of the series was not the CRM. It was Rick and Michonne's love story and return home. The CRM was never going to be the plot point that the show relied on. They wove in what would be the downfall of this branch of the military the whole season so that way you could see how they would make it out. That less than 10% of the military is actually corrupt meaning everyone freaking out about how massive this threat was is missing the picture. Only a small portion of the infantry was a danger and they (Rick and Michonne) handled that. He only killed 3,000 the small less than 10% was corrupt. The CRM still exists they just handed power over to the republic like they always were supposed too.I think along the way people missed what this story was supposed to be and thats why you may feel disappointed. I loved it and love that Andy and Danai came back to give their characters the peace they deserved. This was about closing the chapter on Rick and Michonne and showing their love and their united strength. They never said the CRM was the endgame of the TWD, just that we hadn't seen anything like that before and that is true, but it is fans that created their own narrative for how the CRM story should go forward in a show that was never about the CRM and again thats why you are disappointed because you never understood the point of this particular series.

A top tier leader, and naturally, a strategist that at least has some level of tactical knowledge not only from surviving but literal police training. You know, like, the guys that pretend to not be cops all the time to stage busts, which regular cops have the opportunity to do pretty often with task forces. It didn't cross his mind once? They had a perfect big bad nationwide threat with the CRM that could have connected the other spinoffs…and they chose to way too easily kill them off. The problem I have with The Walking Dead as a whole is that the writers don't seem to ever give it a 100% if u know what I mean like they seem to play it safe with every storyline and conclusion atleast in recent years I agree with u that kids acting is I don't want to sound harsh but it's atrocious they needed to recast him years ago idk why they bothered to create that character to begin with this franchise was destined to fail without carl. If they wanted to kept carl alive and continued with the CRM storyline I would have had both carl and rick be taken by the CRM and separated maybe they were told one another were dead rick tries to return home but carl instead get really invested in the CRMS motives they could have gone into how the virus started and could've shown us how they were still searching for a cure they could've made carl this type of Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader character growing up into a kind of anti hero ruthless killer serving the CRM with the title general grimes then after the ones who live we could've gotten a trilogy about carl and tell a real dark in depth story.

I thought all the spin offs should of tied into each other and they all come together to fight the big boogey man which is the CRM. I agree this episode was definitely rushed but people are judging this ark way too quickly and harshly. Yes Beale and the entirety of the top brass at the summit being killed off was disappointing, but its not confirmed whether all frontliners & top brass attended that summit and were killed. There could still very much be a chance for rebellion in the CRM, if some of the remaining CRM army are still loyal to Beale's leadership albeit they didn't fully know Beale's plans. Someone could take over the mantle of Beale's position like Croat, continuing Negan's legacy in New York, and manipulate the truth like Beale did to gain control of the CRM. And it wouldn't take too many soldiers as well, Beale only had 2533 men doing his real dirty work, of which he used to build himself a sort of supremacy. If someone with the same leadership and organisation follows Beale's footsteps the CRM could become a major major threat again. so just hope for a season 2, there's still alot of great storyline to play with.

Such a STRONG start to the show. The first episode somehow managed to take what would sound rushed on paper, but make it work perfectly on screen! It was a bit of a let down to have a bit of a rushed finale with some things that just didn’t feel realistic. I feel as if they made all the episodes 90 minutes, cut episode 4 and 5 into each other as just episode 4. Making Episode 5 most of what we saw in episode 6, but more in detail, and less rushed. And making episode 6 a big story about how they leave the CRM, get in contact with Judith and RJ, and spend more time with them reuniting. It would’ve satisfied me and a lot of others more.

Imo episodes 4&5 should have been mixed together and the final two episodes should have all been about battling the crm. Maybe episode 5 could be Rick & Michonne talking to the crm community and getting them to rebel against the army. Then episode 6 is that battle. We’ve seen that Rick befriended people within, some who put their life’s on the line for him, like the dude in episode 1 who gave him the sewer map. So this could show that no matter where Rick goes, people are willing to follow him. So with this civil war, it would feel more believable that Rick & Michonne could take down an entire damn army. On top of this, if they could only do 6 episodes, each episode should have been ATLEAST an exact hour, rather then 45 mins, but I’d even say an hour and a half episode each. Also Daryl leaving for nothing makes this feel even dumber. It’s become clear to me that the only people who are happy with this ending are the ones who joined the show half way through its run. Majority of us fans from day one are extremely upset with it. It doesn’t mean we don’t still love the franchise, it just means we can admit when something we love has faults. It’s okay to not blindly accept anything given to us. Some of my favorite series have terrible endings. The 100. How I Met your mother. Shameless. Now the walking dead. But some of my favorite shows have GOOD endings. Weeds. Breaking Bad. Hell, even Z Nation has a better ending than this. It’s a shame twd couldn’t be on the good ending list. With that said, I will suggest this, many of the shows I spoke of have season finales that could MOSTLY work as the series finale, if you so chose so. The 100 was fairly well wrapped up with the season 5 finale. Shameless is fairly well wrapped up with the season 7 finale. And the walking dead could be fairly well wrapped up with the season 8 finale. Obviously there’s some loose ends in the ending, if you chose those endings, but it works better then the endings we got. Also yeah, RJ’s acting truely destroyed this scene, lmao. No offense to him at all, it’s truely amc’s fault, as they should have got better casting.

Finally someone who understands me,I don't hate walking dead but it feels like this was a disappointment,I wasn't expecting this though,I started walking dead in 2013,and seeing the way the story goes without Giving me the vibe I always imagined sucks,I think this walking dead was just focused on Love, nothing more it sucked for me

I started watching in 2011, never missed a Sunday, bought lots of merchandise, got family members hooked, got angry when Carl died, pissed at others scenes, but never gave up. I think once you understand that TOWL, is a love story, one can understand it is the way it is. The rest is just filler. Maybe they'll revise or dig into it in another part of the universe, maybe not. It's a TV show that's going to have done unrealistic aspects, hell, zombies aren't even real! And neither are dragons. Imagination Nation. It worked for me. 😊❤️‍🔥

Lol, it's not a filler episode when the show is advertised as a love story from the get go. The problem here is that you're judging it based on what you wanted it to be and not what it actually was aiming to be from the get go. And they were very upfront about what the show is from the get go.

This isn’t about what we wanted. Speed running a plot is the stupidest sht ANY showrunner can do, bottom line. Two more episodes could have sufficed to flesh it out more. Taking down the CRM and going home in the span of 15mins is just a cop out. I was literally screaming at my husband “Omfggg this is GoT all over again!! Why do they keep doing this?!! Sure I’m glad he reunited with the kids, but what the hell?? They aren’t the Avengers for heaven sakes…”

Thinking about this finale more, it occurred to me that the fatal flaw with this story was summed up when Beal said he told over 2500 soldiers they would be committing genocide and only Rick seemed to think that was a bad idea. I know Okaford wasn’t on board but he had much more time and resources to act and yet he didn’t. This all plays back to the A vs B thing and that’s where the show came up short. Every character we were introduced to from the CRM was actually an A. They never showed us what it truly meant to be a B, where they came from, how they survived and how did they transform into elite soldiers. We are to believe that the Eugene’s of the post apocalypse world will inherit it yet does Eugene seem like he’d make a good CRM soldier? Of course not. In fact other than Eugene, I can’t think of single character from any in the TWD universe (except TWB) who wasn’t an A. We already knew who Rick and Michonne are so maybe the show could have spent a little more time telling us who the CRM is. That didn’t happen and that’s why the finale felt rushed and a bit implausible. IMO

This is why tv shows needs like ten or thirteen episodes for a season. 6 episodes is not enough to tell a story of a season

Tbf that alone wouldn’t be a saviour, they could still make most of the series filler & rush the finale to absolute hell (see S11 of the main show)

I definitely agree. I also think they made Michone take on the masculine role which I did not like. She is constantly trying to save him but he has Stockholm syndrome and she has to be the brains aswell as the muscle for both of them.

Honestly I loved it. I think it was everything most of us want! And it leaves the door open for both actors, time was of the essence and they imo pulled it off. This rushed season created opportunities for future spin offs. I'm curious, what did you want/wish to happen in such a short time frame.

i could totally understand the pacing issues and i honestly blame it on budget/andy and danai just wanting to do one season. maybe it shouldve been explained more on this show but in World Beyond the topics of the crm are much more explained with the crm having control of the civic republic for the time being during the “fall of omaha” when it was really crm’s doing because they would lose resources with having to share with them. it’s basically like the drama in early s9 with maggie sharing supplies with the sanctuary but on a much larger scale ofc. so when the higher powers of the crm were wiped out, the civic republic had much more freedom on what to do and hell there was prob a week timeskip when all that went down. Also rick and michonne didn’t bomb the entire crm, just the red stripes who have been killing people and were about to bomb portland which all the weapons were being prepared there. So all the great powers of the crm including the red striped soldiers in one place for this very meeting with all the weapons there plus michonne’s knowledge on bombs that she learned including the foreshadowing of all this happening with okafor bombing his own navy base. i think it all adds up for me and maybe just didn’t work for you and that’s just a preference but i honestly think im more impressed how well they handled it in six episodes.

i can go on a full deep dive on why i enjoy beale’s character. but ive read a good deep dive on rick’s character arc reflecting the wizard of oz because rick read that story to judith before getting taken. the whole rick final episode with shane, hershel, and sasha representing the brain, heart, and courage. Jadis representing the wicked witch and Beale representing Oz. Being talked about as this powerful figure, but he turns out to be a weak man behind the scenes. He doesn’t have faith civilization will even last 14 years when the civic republic thing was that they could bring back civilization with a “400 year old plan” he’s not the man he was talked to be for a reason and rick is the opposite now with having this hope back and this is the final part of rick’s arc. He could take the weak man way out by taking beale’s deal with having his family come to the CR while Rick stays with Beale fighting the remaining years they have left killing communities and taking their resources. Rick will go back to that hopeless man he was in the first episode of towl but now that he has michonne he has this hope again and he couldve lost that again if he took that deal, but they pick a big actor for a reason and that’s to break expectation on what kind of character Beale is, but he’s the final push for Rick’s character arc.

Just a bit of criticism but it’s hard to watch your videos because some of your opinions are being phrased the same exact way popular comments in the sphere are agreeing to. It happens every video. It’s not like you can’t share the same opinion but it’s more so the metaphor of the opinion that you are taking for your own. It’d be easier to watch if you said something like “I’ve seen a lot of folks say that ___ reminds them of __ which I totally agree to!” Instead of just copying and pasting it for your own. For what it’s worth, 9/10 opinions sounds like your own and that’s what I’m here for. But I’m just not here to hear the voice of the people.

I just got thru watching the finale and I was so disappointed. That finale was rushed, Rick surviving a grenade, Beale was a footnote and so was Thorne, and the CRM is a big bad but they are pretty much dethroned with no pushback. Even the reunion with the kids was a letdown. And I enjoyed the first few episodes, they were so good. But like the seasons of TWD, instead of quality going down over seasons, it went down in 3 episodes

The events of Dixon takes place like a month or so after Rick returns home. It’s Dead City that’s ridiculously jumped time of 5/6 years later going on to 18 years in the Apocalypse with no verbal or physical explanation as to y Maggie has majestically left Hilltop, Rick, Michonne & the Co, ETC with Hershel again which only then lead to Hershel being Kidnapped again creating a Re-Hash ordeal of S11 when Hershel was also taken away from Maggie by the Commonwealth.
