in my view one of the best scenes ever on the Waltons, two very gifted actors in a beautifully written scene. Thank you Ronnie Claire.

JimBob's episodes were usually the most touching. Remember the one when he found out he was a twin? The way he went up to Olivia and hugged her at the end... Jeez, I wept for days!!! I'd completely forgotten about this scene with Corobeth though. Thanks for the reminder.

@@lorraineb.4698 There is no question. It was a different show. The early episodes were great, but her arrival added something....often something intangible, but unmistakable, nevertheless...A very talented woman...and this is probably her finest moment...

This is one of my favorite episode of Corabeth says she would hate to see him give up his whole dream. When she found herself clerking in a general store she had to find a way to keep part of her dream alive. By speaking a French phrase or quoting Shakespeare she is fulfilling part of her dream. She advises Jim Bob that if he wants to fly he must find a way to do it, and not allow a pair of glasses to stop him. Jim Bob kisses her on the cheek.

Jim Bob was a sweet and wonderful young man on The Walton's! And the softer side of Corabeth Godsey!

I still love to spend a rainy afternoon wrapped in a quilt watching The Waltons. I first saw it when I was just out of High School and now that I'm middle aged and have 5 grandkids I realize how wonderful it is to just remember watching my kids grow up. Good old fashioned values are never "out of date". Oh, the good old days... Peace to all, Randy

As the characters got older and other actors left the show in one way or another this show really knew how to keep it fresh and revive itself. For some reason I have always believed that after Richard Thomas left the show actually got better because in the first seasons it was all about John-Boy and hardly anyone else. After RT's departure they were able to focus better on the other cast members older AND younger and it improved the show I believe.

Well of course it would be more about john boy because the writer of the story, Earl Hamner, based john boy off of himself when he was young man.

@@ginniekinz5401 It didn't HAVE to be about JB, he just happened to write it from his perspective. Not every episode was about JB while he was there.

What a great comment! Richard leaving was a horror show, but The Waltons did a quick left turn involving other characters in the community and never lost it's luster! It just kept evolving! The little Walton wipper-snapers grew up and became wonderous unto themselves! Verdie had several beautiful stories that would put Black Lives Matter current material to shame. Viva Waltons! Yesterday, on ME TV John Boy was reported missing in action in 1942. The family embraced in devastation. The follow up episode mentioned the status of lost John boy, but they were completely involved in a whole new adventure with their constitutions very up beat. Curious.

Well, Richard Thomas only signed on for the first five years. He fulfilled that contract he made and, if I remember correctly, appeared for three more episodes in Seasons 6 & 7. Two of the three were back-to-back episodes. He didn't want to get stereotyped as John boy Walton. Back then, this happened to so many actors and this usually ended their acting careers. In the end, that plan worked out for him and he went on with his successful acting career. The rest of the Walton actors died off with the exception of Michael Learned & Ralph Waite. After RT left the show, my favorite child actor was Jim-Bob (David W Harper). He was basically me in real life, when I was growing up. He was a very good actor IMO. It's too bad that his acting career ended when The Walton's ended. Today, he is 60 years old. His birthday is just two days before mine October 4th. Yeah, the youngest Walton son is now 60. Can you believe it? How time flies by in just a blink.

This episode is my second favorite of the Walton series. #1 was The Pony Cart, where Martha Corinne passed away. The Waltons had some of the best writing for television before or since.

My favorite scenes: -this -Reds talk with John in the truck and Grandpas telling Jason about the unfairness of death. The Gift -grandpas tearful talk with Olivia while waiting for Grandmas surgery results. Grandma in hospital bed talking with Mary Ellen. The Vigil -Sheriff Bridges telling JohnBoy about how killing guys during the war has affected him. The Hero

Back when dinosaurs roamed the Earth I was stuck in a house out in the middle of nowhere in Vermont for a year which only received one TV channel. I ended up watching a lot of the Waltons. Now of course I was way too hip and cool to be a fan of that corny show for old people... but over the years I've grown to appreciate what a substantive and legitimate work it was... and what a fine, fine actress Ronnie Claire Edwards was. Her character and her performance was multi layered, mysterious, nuanced and oddly sensual. She had something entirely unique about her. Watch the clip. It's pretty amazing. Genuinely touching.

CoraBeth started off slow but is the most delightful La' de da character! I always smile when CB appears knowing she is going to be up to some wonderful pretension! Mr. Godsey, the country bumpkin's wife with delusions of grandure. I got such a kick out of seeing their little blonde adopted daughter Aimee (Amy for real people) get shipped off to finishing school and then coming back a complete snot. HA! Jim Bob is the coolest low key dude with the secret soul of a poet I completely love him, finding myself surprised as it seems that only yesterday he was but a little rug-rat. Watch his wonderful rapor with his sister Elizabeth or sniping with his older brothers. The Waltons on ME TV, the very best part of my day!
