Great info, and well and tastefully done! It's so funny, I've been doing this for constipation for years (not with a wand), and have tried to explain to friends in the same boat that all you have to do most of the time is reach in, preferably using the thumb, gently press down and out on the anterior wall of the vag. and that will usually do it. Generally, their mouths fall open, and they stare at me like cows at a passing train. What's the big deal- A, and B- why would you not be any more familiar with your own physiology than that, as a woman?
That's why we continue to educate! Working towards breaking the stigma and teaching women that Pelvic Floor issues are not normal, but they are common.
Can this make the rectocele more stretched? I just have this deep fear of being and elderly woman who can’t poo :( it’s also really hard because I suffer IBS so fibre makes it worse :(
Hey Hillary...I'm 46, I just went to an OBGYN, I had a hysterectomy 2 years ago (and now my husband and I have next to no sex life, so kudos to you!!) but i have this rectocele, and a slight bladder prolapse. The OB suggested a surgery, all vaginally, no more cutting on my belly with my two abdominal surgeries. I don't think I'm going to put us through another surgery and another recovery tho. I recommend, seeing an OBGYN, see what your options are, and I'm sorry you're having the prolapse problems 😢.
Yes! Strengthening the pelvic floor muscles can help with prolapse. Additionally, I would recommend finding a Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist who is specially trained in all things related to the pelvic floor! If you need help finding one near you, email us at support@intimaterose.com and we can help!
I have constant pressure in my rectum area which worsens as the day goes on. I am not constipated, often have very large bowel movements. Can you suggest something that will relieve the pressure?
Any ideas for what a man could do if the rectosigmoid junction is habitually hypertonic (pinched shut)? Im thinking of creating some sort of specialized, flexible speculum that can reach 6-9 inches up the rectum to force open the RS junction. Of course the ultimate solution would be to interupt nerve impulses that are telling that muscle group to tighten. Any and all ideas are much appreciated.
A rectocele is a type of prolapse where the supportive wall of tissue between a woman's rectum and vaginal wall weakens and sometimes it can create a pocket that stool can get caught in. Applying pressure helps prevent the passing stool from getting stuck in said pocket so that it can pass. A pelvic wand can help you do this.
I don’t understand how to use this on the toilet when I try to use it as recommended it does not fit in between my vagina in the toilet lid as in the tool is too large For this purpose of this angle. Please advise
Yes, some people find that they can just use their thumb/fingers. Others have difficulty reaching or find that the pelvic wand is helpful or more comfortable to use. We advocate for whatever works best for each individual's needs.
