I have massive respect for Eritreans. I was only 17 years old when the EPLF attacked the Dereg army inside Assosa or western Ethiopia. I witnessed the humiliation on the army and the OLF took advantage of it as well. Everyone wondered how did they come all the way from Eritrea then the same EPLF army two weeks later they controlled the whole of Massawa. Ato Essu's or Sheabia's greatest mistake is driving the evil TPLF to Addis Ababa.
@Amharaw Teraraw I know the army didn't want to fight for Mengestu because the war was taking too long. I'm 100% Ethiopian, in fact my big brother did serve in Eritrea under the national service we had at the time.

My big brother served in Eritrea under a national service we had in Ethiopia at the time. Fortunately, my brother came home after the war was finished but sadly all his friends never came back. This has affected him until this days. My personal view based so many Eritrean origins that I spoke to in back home and here in US, none of them wish reunion with Ethiopia again, in fact they get offended.

For example and 1 individual can have a culture of his her own. Repetitive, behavior, in a demonstration way, is a cultural way. Respect of another being is a cultural way. Watching this in 2020 gives me a mixed feeling.one side the way they worked hard, their confidence,their smile in the hard time ,their sacrifice for as gives me hope .on the other side seeing my people leaving the country and risking their lives makes me sad.i am just praying to end this misery,so that we can go back and work hard as they did to build our country with out any fear and discrimination.

The politico economic separation actually happened in two phases. The political separation which happened in 1991/93 was a huge victory to many Eritreans and a blow to those who supported unity. Economic decoupling happened after the sudden and unconsulted currency changes in the two countries in September 1997 which soured relations and lead to war under pretext of border conflict. The economic separation was a huge shock for Eritrean economy to this day and one major contributor for young Eritreans to run away from their homeland.
The currency change was by Eritrean government and i wish it didn't happen. It caused the death of many brothers and sisters 😪 . I wish peace for 🇪🇹 and Eritrea 🇪🇷
