Kind of funny, I saw both bands live just over a year apart myself. 🤣 They're both opposite ends of the same rock spectrum. The War on Drugs with finely tuned instrumentals and a spacey ethereal feel. Muse with their bombast that almost feels like Queen and glam metal had an LED lit baby. Very different vibes in both, yet perhaps not surprising that they might share some of the same audience. They're both Grammy winners though. Guess that cross fan appeal is just part of the magic of rock and roll isn't it? I mean I'm one to talk, I started listening to TWoD after Adam's small appearance on The Killer's "Blowback" so I guess following weird industry connections and crossovers is just my jam. 😅
The only thing that could have made this better is some drum accents / short drum solo at the 7minute 30 second pseudo-techno breakdown. Picture the Kenny aronoff drum breakdown from Mellencamps " lonely old night" during this section
This recording of Harmonia's Dream was flat compared to all the others. Bass and percussion were good, everything else was inarticulate by comparison. That said, War On Drugs is THE band that keeps me going on regular basis. I love these guys and gal. They are phenomenal musicians that know how to bring pleasure to the ears, heart, and soul.
