9:42 this moment right here, this ecstatically resonant wall of pure sonic dopamine overload! The Brisbane crowd of Australia got to witness this on 09-12-2023. Not a bad word could be found about what we witnessed this band deliver on the Forecourt of Sydney's Opera House. Then Brisbane happened. Adam is a maestro, beats me how the band could improve. Bravo TWOD - and you M. U. S. T. A. R. D.
I feel like all the people listening to the war on drugs rn understood something that other people didn’t understand. We’ve experienced something, my friends, that many people will never able be able to experience. TWOD, I love u ❤️
yep :-) and I am feeling it intensely 'specially when the drummer explodes at 9.42 This is the best rock music I have ever heard. Listening in Dublin Ireland. Caught this band live at London's O2 a couple of years ago. This brings it all back.
I’ve seen many live gigs, U2, The eagles….some big tunes but NOTHING comes close to the energy created when this song was played in The Barrowlands Glasgow. It still gives me chills to this day. Edit: this is the best live version I’ve seen on RU-vid. Incredible.
I’d been to their Halifax Nova Scotia show and when they played this, the drummer was on his feet smashing every cymbal he had before jumping back in. Fucking stunning, my buddy and I have been searching for a similar version since and nothing comes close. This may be the closest and it’s still far off
You tube pulled up this song for me on one of my “mix” channels within the past week I listen to is several times a day!! Definitely hits the soul. So glad we can get back to live shows. These gentlemen are on the list to see!!!Bravo !!!!!
I'm 65 now Greg and you are so right. This was such an intense live performance. My son got me hooked on these guys and I'm glad he did. I've seen many a band over the years and these guys are a definite must on my bucket list.
At 9.42 I could die and go to Heaven. This has got to be one of the best live acts ever. I caught them at the O2 in London this time two years ago and I don't think I have ever seen a more exciting band. I have been going to gigs for almost 40 years and have seen all the big names, but nothing compares to The War on Drugs . individually they are awesome musicians, but together they are so tight its incredible. Thanks for this. Watching it tonight is making the lockdown here in Ireland a lot more bearable.
I saw them on Lost in the Dream tour in my hometown years ago. The opened with Under the Pressure and it was the best show ever! I still remember it well. Was lucky to see them.
Charlie Hall is a so fantastic drummer, I think he's the real star in the band. Never seen so much emotions and such powerful drum play, he plays the drums so impressive and dynamic, that reminds of Bun.E.Carlos in his best time.
The perfect song. Their hit song. 2nd half is so intense you want to jump on stage. Major complements to the sax that was a very difficult song for him. Intense 4 minutes. The entire group are genius. Hall of fame easily for TWOD.
This came on a curated station and I had to stop what I was doing. Listened to the track like 100 times. Then went to see if they passed the “Live” test and came across this. Now I feel like an asshole because they played my favorite venue in St Augustine, FL a few months back and I missed it. Won’t make that mistake again.
These guys know full well that the bridge is the best part of this song and I love that they milk it for all it’s worth. When the drums kick back in, perfection.
I always have to restrain myself from instantly repeating when Charlie kicks back in, just because its so damn satisfying. But I cant break the magic of the performance. So I just repeat the song when its over. Haha. Problem solved.
@@oneinchpunched3661 Under The Pressure has been with me all day including listening to it six times since early yesterday morning (it is now 1:39 am here in Fairbanks, Alaska). Adam's guitar is the epic wailing of an angel. TWOD cook and they soar: this is transcendence.
Friday night, late, Dublin. Ireland. Storm Betty is raging outside. Summer? Bahhhh what a washout, but I am watching this and reminiscing about two great gigs I saw this year, The War on Drugs at the Spandau Zitadel in Berlin in June then three weeks later in my hometown at Trinity College on a night when it actually didn't rain. This is a very special group of musicians. The feeling of love I have for them is totally surprising to me. I have been playing music on my radio programs for decades now and I have probably seen most of the big name bands in concert, but none has ever touched me so deeply as this band. They are quite simply the best thing that has happened to music in recent years. Anyone else watching this tonight? Friday 18th August 2023. Anyone else actually brought to tears by their sublime sound?
I'm watching it tonight 28th of october 2023....like I've done so many times before. Can't even begin to describe what this song does to me. Blows my mind each and every time!❤
In an age when the average song is three minutes (some song sharing sites & radio stations now refuse to go too far past that for song lengths) These guys do a 15 minute masterpiece !
One of the best songs of all times...when i first heard it, i felt that i had to stand up and dance, and as the song evolved my feelings exploded...at the end i cried...but in a good way...stunning song ..
I was fortunate enough to see them summer 2023 in the middle of the USA. They had over an hour delay (for tech reasons) and they DELIVERED!!! See them when you can!
I swear this is a spiritual experience. My god that drum and bass drop at 9:42 elevates my soul and the following chord progression takes me to a higher state of being. Pure bliss.
There is no feeling in the world, that compares to listening to 09:42 while shifting up your bike, as it roars past 9000rpm and that last gear clutches in. I swear to God, I get THE heaviest chills.
So few songs that will completely silence you and give you goosebumps. But I don’t there is ANY other song that does so every single time I hear it. A literal masterpiece
J’adore The War on Drugs ! Ce morceau me transporte au milieu du désert californien à bord d’une mustang 67, musique à fond dans la voiture et regarder défiler les paysages vierges … 🙏♥️♥️♥️
Transcendent. The song transports your soul to the 5D universal awareness! It reps universal collective consciousness. Go Charlie! In-the-pocket the entire time. ✊🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🌺🕊️🤍😭🥹😌😎🤩
This took me right back to the kind of music I listened to in the early 70s. Saw them in Glasgow last night; their performance of this song was more powerful, almost rocking; it blew the roof off the arena. Amazing.
I was there at their show in Berlin on that same tour! Impossible to describe the built-up emotions for such a performance! I never had such a feeling before, and probably will never have!
Wow.. What can you say? There are other versions on RU-vid, live, but this takes it to next level. I too was blown away @ 02... and this track was the highlight. Worth the admission alone. Adam goes into some kind of trance towards the end... the band just hang in there... You can see he is thinking of some kind of The Who guitar damage at the end! But holds off... He's seen serious mileage with that axe... World class - the long build up to the break @ 9.40 and then Adam goes to town... Wonderful stuff.
He's too exhausted, depleted even at the end to smash his guitar (which is no way to treat it anyway!). I love the passion Charlie plays with. And Adam's solos are transcendent. Truly astonishing.
