Yeah me too lol. A big chip/scratch or a piece of the model snapping and it can be a serious problem when you are trying to make something look perfect. If the banner pole had broken they are near impossible to get back looking flawless.

Hi there! I wanted to drop you a message to express my appreciation. Your videos have been incredibly helpful in my journey into miniature painting. I ventured into wargaming just before turning 43 and, after consulting with friends, I decided on a couple of games and ordered the miniatures. Would you be willing once the model has been entered and the competition is over to consider making a video focused on that feedback that was provided? Having the scope of the painters you look up to at my own little level would be incredible.

One thing I like about Golden Demon season is it’s the one time of year all the painters I admire seem to acknowledge that painting is hard. Normally Ninjon puts out videos that are like “here’s a quick fun way to up your painting, look what I did in 2 hours!” and it’s way better than stuff I put 15-20 hours into. I’m not saying I enjoy the schadenfreude…but I’m not not saying that either!
The entry looks incredible. I we were standing next to you all at the beginning of the GW preview at Adepticon. I was in the shadow of greatness with all of you there. Great work.
Looking fantastic Jon:) Video idea - it would be really helpful to talk about the feedback you received from various painters and how you tried to implement that. There aren't many videos on pushing competition pieces as far as you can/breaking painting plateaus, or what to do when you can't identify what to improve next. If not a full vid, maybe something worth talking about in a retrospective after GD or something?
Love the video and the peice is epic ❤ Wishing you all the best from down under in Aus mate 🙏👍 If I’m allowed to throw my 2cents in the ring, I think the stones on the bases highlights are too high and could be toned down a touch, also use another colour glazed through them like a brown in spots might helps set them more in the background than competing against all your nice nmm work

damn dude looking good! You learnt about the tuffs from the last one you did. All the cloth flowing with the wind in the same direction, just don't forget the tuffts bigger grass will bend with the wind and that banner needs some serious wind to be flapping in the breeze. The horses eye looks so good It keeps drawing me in.
I signed up for a painting competition in my area and I have one model left for my unit entry that is taking forever and the advice of "make it interesting through techniques and new paints" I will definitely be taking forward as I speed through final month!
So excited to see this piece in person man, win or lose you're killing it. Attending Adepticon for my first time (hell, leaving Canada for the first time...) and just amped to check out your work and that of all the other amazing artists attending. 5 days lets gooooooooooooo!

I love what you've been able to capture here, such a natural-looking scene. I know that other than all the technical aspects, the 'story' of one's work is very important in this competition. To say this is “just” your best piece is an understatement. It is one of the best fantasy miniatures I’ve seen and certainly the best Cities of Sigmar piece I’ve ever seen. The cohesion is this piece contrasted with your entry from last year is where I see the most growth in your style, but your growth as a painter is astronomical. Great work Jon.

Absolutely incredible work Jon! I'm sure someone could find room for critique, but it's not me. I was literally just nodding my head and going "nice" as you added the models to the base, it came together so well!!
Man, I just went to check the Golden Demon results with you in mind. I was scrolling down looking for the AoS unit and it was really nice to see you got a Bronze! (althought I was expecting even better with the incredibly beautiful piece you managed to paint!) Congratulations :)
I love seeing this kind of painted piece.. what an absolutely beautiful base you have there.. that base alone is prettier then any complete mini I ever painted.. and I have won my local paint comps so its not like I'm shit either. Lol looking forward to seeing more. Best of luck!
This is a really cool scene with great painting! Since you addressed the importance of critical feedback, I'd like to suggest adding some blue glazes to the metals to differentiate them more from the stonework. In any case, good luck at the Demons!
