I was there standing on the rail at the soundboard. We had heard a few notes of this through the doors when they did soundcheck while we stood in line. We thought "no way" but then thought if she was EVER going to do it live, Pepsi Center would be the place. When we got in and saw the setlist on the soundboard it said "BLACKHOLES/B". We were pretty darn sure at that point there was a high likelihood of it happening. But they were sick and we just didn't know--until she started playing those opening chords very slowly. Then the crowd began to participate. The connection between performer and crowd during this was strong. She didn't want our help at first, but then she allowed us to carry the song home. The performance (of both Pau AND us) mirrored the song in such an amazing way for me. I believe Pau had said that this is really a panic/anxiety attack rolled into a song (I can't find that reference right now). That is exactly how I felt the very first time I heard it. When I got the ERROR album and played it through the first time, BREATHE came on and stopped me dead in my tracks. I didn't move until well after the song stopped playing. It has been a very long time since a song moved me like this one did. As one of my Patreon perks, I now have a copy of these lyrics hand-written by Pau. I don't hang on to many mementos of shows or performances, but this one is framed and hangs above my desk.
Yes, the parental pride is a real thing for those of us who have raised kids, tried to raise them the right way, and point them in the direction they should go. To watch DPA blaze a trail in the right direction, makes us all very proud "familia."
Our hearts fell to the ground. Never ever we expected this song specially since it wasn't on the previous Guadalajara and Monterrey shows. I sometimes think Pau is the personification of The Warning in the sense that they can be strong, energetic and rebellious but also show an incredible courage by exposing their delicate and vulnerable side with complete trust on their fans. I don't know anyone, artist or not, with such confidence.
The fans did sing, they finished the song for her as she was unable to. As you saw the fans also started the song for her before she politely asked them to let her sing. Easy to get overwhelmed by this song and sweet Paulina's emotional performance. Tears every damn time I watch this, she is an incredible young woman...😥😥
Thanks for not interrupting the song. A few reactors went overboard needlessly talking over the song and ruined the experience. 11:29 I'm also getting up there in years. I want to be around long enough for any 20th or 25th anniversary events, but that's pushing it. The younger fans have so much to look forward to over the coming decades watching three superstars get their well-deserved accolades.
That is the only bittersweet part of them being so young and me being so old. 😁 Love that I have the perspective to see how amazing they are in context, but, darn it, I want to be here when they are old. 😂
Pau has NEVER said what this song is about. It's meraning has not been made public. Dany, however, did lose a friend, a few years back. I believe that is where the confusion comes from.
Don't hold it back, let the crying flow, it will make you feel better... that's what it exists for, you know? As a relief valve, because immediately afterwards dopamine and oxytocin are released which make you feel good! A great hug!
I could be wrong, but I also doubt she will ever do it again. Officially, we do not know what inspired the song. So, if anyone tells you what it's about they are either speculating or taking a considered opinion. Like most creative individuals, there are layers to Pau. Perhaps her sisters know what the song is about, but maybe not. It is, as she says deeply personal.
I subscribed. Well said. Watch all the old concert footage in their first USA tour... It is mostly older white men that love Classic Rock and these girls in the best way possible, as a Dad, (We get no respect). It was kind of weird looking though.
Thank you. I interviews they say the older guy fan stuff is mostly just in the U.S. In MX they say it is younger adults and elsewhere it is a big mix of ages and genders.

I'm hearing that now from some folks (that she never said anything about it). I guess that's one of those fan-canon things that just spreads. Just like the inspiration for Animosity... people who say they know what inspired that one also can't seem to cite a source where Pau talks about that (as far as I know).
Yes, exactly my point. I don't know if anyone has ever found Pau saying this is the inspiration for Animosity, but everyone says it is. It might be... it might not be.
Catcalls do not always mean what they mean here in the states. Don't make that cultural mistake. In some places whistles mean the opposite, some places it's a group statement of disgust and in others it's a cheer. You will find in Mexico a catcall is like yelling Ya-hoo.
