The thing that stands out to me, considering their ages are 16, 14, and 12 year old, is that all three can sing while actively playing their instruments. Also, their composure and professionalism.
Survive is a crowd favourite. it’s always appreciated. If Pau doesn’t break a stick during a gig, then everyone is entitled to a full refund, it’s such a rare occurrence when she doesn’t break at least one 😂
@@VocalCitizen These two TEDx presentations are well worth it to react to them, they are fan favorites starting with the first one from 2016 and following with the one from 2017 which this song is from. The girls talk about forming the band and the struggles that they had along the way including the negativity they received, they also talk about making their first album and how the band was formed. So i recommend starting with the first presentation of 2016 and following with the 2017 each is about 20 min long. Cheers
You betcha that Paulina "has a real, real future in percussion"! In 2023 at just 21 (she's 22 now), she won two MAJOR drumming awards competing against older, very well known and/or veteran drummers in the music business: 1. Modern Drummer Magazine Readers Poll Award for Up-and-Coming Drummer; and 2. Drumeo's Best Rock Drummer of the Year Award.
@@don-music 😁laughing at the comment to the reactor, because i know Pau's achivements as a drummer (and musician) I like her drumming very much and been waiting to if i get to see them in Guadalajara o Monterrey next year. I saw them in Mérida last November with my daugther (and the streaming of their concerts, and the reactions and...you know the drill jeje) by the way hello to you and your son, witing to see you uploading another reaction/analysis :)
Nice Reaction! Remember though that they were 17, 15 and 12 yrs. old and this is a song they wrote. Their songwriting has matured alot, but this one will always be special to alot of The Warning fans.
Absolutely. Like I said, it was a good song. Their performance was electric. I'll fight anyone over the quality of Metallica's music, but Kill 'Em All had some "just ok" tracks. Sting didn't always knock it out of the park. Witnessing the evolution of a band is spellbinding. I'm looking forward to witnessing theirs. 🇲🇽❣️
There are a number of things that impress me about this song and performance. The composure of these young girls in speaking to an audience in a foreign country, in their second language. The joy in their performance. The ambition and audacity of their songwriting, fusing that almost Broadway-ish intro to a conventional, poppy middle section to that groovy outro. (Their ambitiousness was even more on display in their follow-up, a concept album.)
These girls were absolutely born to perform. Their musicality and song structure (including the playful bits) are delightful. I love the earlier footage of bands. Rounds out the picture for me.
Say it as you see it. The band is very nervous here. They were about 17, 15, and 12! Imagine being Mexican kids giving a TEDx Talk, at an American University, in their second language, and playing three original songs from your first album. Five years later, at Teatro Metropolitan Theater in Mexico City, they played it far more masterfully. I bought all four of their albums. There is a ton of progression with each new release. The bass player, Ale, is only 19 now. They went viral when she was nine! There are many lessons to be learned from their journey, about inspiration, vision, passion, commitment, practice, tenacity, creativity, selflessness, family, sponsorship, mentorship, crowd funding, social media, and more.
She broke her stick and tossed it on the floor. And reached for another. You didn't see the wood flying in the air. Try DUST TO DUST LIVE AT TEATRO METROPOLITAN CDMX OR EVOLVE LIVE AT THE MTV VMA'S 2023. 🤘🎶
@@VocalCitizen lol.... i always try and tell reactors to play more first as the build up then they blew the roof off with evolve!! all done live in one take!!... Simply Amazing!!
You don’t want to get Pau angry, an epic song will come out of her, like this one. The song Narcisista was in response to The Warning being labeled ‘cultural traitors’ by some critics in Mexico because they sang in English! This video is 2017. You might like what it sounds now. Performed at the Teatro Metropolitan, Pau orchestrated the audience to sing parts of the song with them. This same song was just performed in Cologne Germany this year.
@@VocalCitizen RU-vid doesn't seem to like direct links in comments, but searching "The Warning Survive Teatro" should get you there. Also the performance of Narcisista in that concert is unusual in that they had Pau's drum teacher fill in for her while she came out to sing the song as a front-woman. If you want a contrast, the very first performance of Narcisista from 2019 is titled "Narcisista - THE WARNING - En Vivo en Foro DiDi Monterrey". Also as a side note, a special treat for newcomer reactors to The Warning would be Pau singing 'Creep' on her home piano as a challenge from her fans.
@@VocalCitizen I enjoyed your reaction and glad you're continuing with The Warning! I think both performances of Narcisista have something to offer... the first was when they introduced the song live, I don't think anyone had heard it before then. It is so incredibly full of attitude - I think you'll enjoy the performance (the visuals are pretty cool too). The more recent version, with Pau out from behind the kit, would be even more appreciated IMHO after seeing it with her in her natural element; it's a great contrast. I would be totally there for a double reaction and I'm betting I'm not alone in that opinion. Here's the link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-O7IAEhN4RMM.htmlsi=5nrQ_T4D2hrbyeBQ 🤘💙
Thanks for your reaction to my donation. This performance was my introduction to The Warning about 4 years ago. My jaw hit the floor at first watch and listen. I have never seen a power trio, so talented at such a young age. I went down the rabbit hole quickly and now looking forward to my 5th time seeing them live, on September 18, in Cleveland.
I'm glad I saw it. It's great to have a look into the young years of a band. Thank you for supporting my channel. HAVE FUN AT THE SHOW 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻 More TW soon.
This was 2017 right at the release of their 1st album, at the moment they were a fantastic "kids band". It's with their second album they become an "awesome band" and at their 3rd album Dany reaches her adult voice and they become the ""WTF IS GOING ON band" level they have now.
Often overlooked is the fact that they wrote and composed the song, from start to finish. It would be easy to play music written by an external songwriter, but that’s not what they do. It’s their composition and they’re barely teens.
Buena reacción!! Siempre es recomendable revisar sus primeras actuaciones cuando ellas comezaron su carrera musical y así para poder apreciar en toda su dimensión su crecimiento como artistas. 🤘🇲🇽🤘🇲🇽🤘🇲🇽 Viva the Warning!!
Me alegró ver imágenes anteriores. Para sus edades, fue bastante bueno. Una de mis partes favoritas de reaccionar es experimentar la evolución de los artistas, a pesar de estar rebotando en sus catálogos. Gracias por mirar.★🇲🇽★
That guitar is pure ZZ Top. Great memories! Great reaction! ❤️⚡🤘 Just a note, when they became really tight was their Error album. David Bendeth produced it, and as Pau said, we attended the David Bendeth bootcamp. We had to relearn how to play together. Their pocket is so tight now you can't squeeze a dime in it.
They grew into what they have become... A Quaint and demure band that lures you in then instantly rip your face off. What a band. Lets rock Nashville ladies.
@@VocalCitizen that's what I love the most about them, their story! I their channel, you can go back 14 years ago and watch the cutest little girls playing piano, before they discovered their passion for rock music. In a documentary, their mom asked to herself how and why these 3 little girls came to the world together in the same home, and I think sometimes extraordinary things happen and The Warning is one of those rare cases when everything happens as it should.
The Warning. Still KIDS when wrote and performed this. Since you listened to this already, you should watch the 2022 live version They all sound more mature and more in sync(trust me you can see and feel the difference). The adult VOICE version is delicious. This song feels like a great slap in the face. It would leave you slightly confused about what you just watched amazed and with adrenaline pumping in your veins. The feeling of "it's on" Am kicking ass now. Ale is still so tinny here. Nowadays she is the tallest and a heartbreaker. =)
I will absolutely watch the live version. Having raised a musical child, I LOVE footage like this of the early years. I've even uploaded several performances of my daughter singing. SO... I appreciated this performance. More to come!!!
Dany and Pau both still had as they say their "baby voices". If you listen to this song done live now(Teatro Metropolitan is good for any song to react to) it is exponentially better in terms of vocal growth. Pau shattered that stick like it was Kathy
The magic with this song is that the outro groove melts your face without needing any metal shredding or clowns on little motorcycles juggling flaming chainsaws. It's just three dedicated musicians having fun and rocking their hearts out.
That song is all about the outro. The passion on show ... OK, maybe its not their greatest song, but they were feeling it. This is the one that got me hooked. To pull that off, at their ages, showed a lot of talent
Pau actually broke a stick and a piece landed on one of the big cymbals to her right and was later blasted off that cymbal by a Pau hit. All three are classically trained pianists by the time they were each 6. When Dany was about 8, their parents bought them "Rock Band" and they loved that game and the rest is history.
There are a couple of other glitches that have happened to them that occurred over the years that are available to see. Each time they handle the situation just as Pau did with her broken drumstick. Ale tripping backward onstage and continuing to play, more of Pau's lumber needing replacement, a false start on a song, Dany's acoustic not coming through the sound system but just continued to sing a cappella.... They simply rolled with the punches each instance. Thanks for taking a look at one of their earlier pieces, and actually hope to see you intermix some in here and there. The writing and composition skill has always been there, but as a testament to why many are TWA, they have a hunger to improve upon each nuance of their music. They love what they do, even if some of their lyrics focus on being away from home, or a specific person. "Six Feet Deep" (newer track from their latest album) takes aim at folks who didn't see the potential growth of Dany, Pau and Ale with a song like "Survive".
Not to mention Pau literally stomping a hole through her kick drum and doing the rest of the show playing the kick with her left foot on the double pedal. As a drummer I know that's hard to do!
Seeing how calmly Pau takes another drumstick after she just broke one, you can figure out she was used to break A LOT of them. Nowadays her technique is more refined but still from time to time she breaks some drumstick or the sticks goes bye bye from her hands. As it just happened a couple of months ago at the Whisky A Go Go when they presented their newest album (Keep Me Fed): one drumstick "escaped" from her her hands and almost hits Dany in the back (which BTW wouldn't be the first time). 🤭 What I love the most about this performance is their passion for music. The three of them are absorbed in the song. FEELING IT. Grooving with it. Of course it's not a perfect presentation from a pure technical point of view. They were still quite young. Ale had just started middle school. But from the point of view of the stage presence and passion, these girls gets a 10 out of 10 in my book. ❤❤❤
@@VocalCitizen 16/14/11, remember! Writing music, lyrics, arrangement and performing at that age thousand of km far from hom in a USA theatre. I don't know how many girls of that age can repeat this! 😘 When i see this, i was astonished!!!!
Song is from their debut album, XXI Century Blood. Released in 2017 when they were 17 15 and 12. But written and recorded a year or so earlier. Ale had to miss part of school to record, she missed part of the 4TH GRADE!!!. This performance was before it the record came out in March 2017. Dany and Pau were 16 and 14 here, just short of 17 and 15 , Ale had just turned 12. The music video for this albums title track in one to put on the list.
If you want to know more about them in there own words watch both Tedx 16 and 17 in full thanks for giving the ladies a listen and buckle up when you continue🤘
Thanks for your reaction! Great version of the song; still with Ale on keyboard. This was their second TEDx performance (2017), they did the first one in 2016 and was invited back, not bad for three young girls!
I loved it. I've said in a bunch of comments that my daughter was musical, so I get the progression, education, experience, and evolution of an artist.
The TEDx presntations, 2016 & 2017 are fenomenal, they have great performances, but the most important of them are the speech between songs. So my recommendation is to do full reaction for the 3 songs each. Its length is avvout 20 min each, but it is worth the effort.
But for us, fans that we love The Warning this is a song still now in a top five maybe six and the first anthem from them. When they finished the first album some changed, the evolution was more evident. Today Alejandra have 19 years old and growp contantly, in ten years nobody knows if we will ready, but i think that no one will be prepared for anything from them. Greetings from Argentina
Absolutely!!! As I've said to many viewers, I LOVE watching early footage. My daughter is highly musical, so I can appreciate the process of artistic evolution. I love these ladies. MORE COMING. 🇦🇷
I recommend looking at some of their new and fresh music. Hell You Call A Dream live from Pepsi center, Automatic Sun has several options … live from Jimmy Kimmel, MTV Push, VEVO or filmed at Tecate Pal Norte with studio audio. All of the options for Automatic Sun are amazing because it’s an amazing song. S!CK can be enjoyed on Jimmy Kimmel or MTV push. Anything from the Keep Me Fed album is awesome. Thanks for the reaction!
They were just 16, 14, and 12 at the time of this performance. How could anyone not be amazed by girls that young composing and performing such a brilliant song?
Ok, I will agree it is not an amazing song, but it is a fan favorite. Many of us found The Warning after this stage of their career, but when checking their catalog, found this TEDx performance. It's what really 'set the hook' for many a fan. The talent and guts to compose and perform this song at that age, and do it that well. Especially after learning so much about the band during the performance. Seeing them perform it now is just pure fun and joy. Especially with all the bits they have added to it. Ale and Dany have some choreographed guitar swings, and Ale and Pau have some timed head swings during the song. They have been doing this song so long and so many times they had to add stuff to it to keep it fun for themselves as well as the audience.
I ADORE early performances. They only ADD to my overall enjoyment of a band/artist. My daughter was musical, performing for crowds, touring Europe with Sound of America, singing live for the KC Royals. I understand young people coming up and how vital early performances are in shaping the kind of band I first saw perform "Hell You Call A Dream". 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
You said it wasn't one of your favorite songs, but what I heard was that it's your 2nd favorite Warning song so far lol. Thanks for reacting to the girls again. TWA will always show up when our girls are being reacted to.
HAHAHAA 🤩 I'm in love with your logic. Although for now my SECOND favorite song 😉, I went in knowing they were really young and so I appreciated their skills and showmanship and enthusiasm. MORE TW COMING.
Aloha VocalCitizen, actually...Paulina splintered her left hand stick at 2:02, then at 2:09 she drops that stick and picks up a new one. The splinter landed on her Ozone Evolution cymbal, and at 3:15 you just barely see it flying off upstage.
Aloha Aloha. Ma ke kiaʻi ʻelua, ʻike wau i ka ʻāʻī ʻana o ka ʻāpana. Mahalo iā ʻoe no ka nānā ʻana. Aia ka Outrigger West ma Oahu? Aia au ma laila i ke kauwela o ka makahiki 1986.
Not sure but I think she broke a stick but wow they are young here Pau hasn’t learned to keep a bag of sticks high enough to reach easily for another one I learned that pretty quick playing drums excellent reaction once again later girl❤️😎🇺🇸 oh yea just subbed 👍
Aww thanks for that. Yes, when I was learning to play on my first kit, it was like I was in the wood-chipping business. You learn real quick to hang a bag on the hi-hat stand.
@@VocalCitizen She always does ... if you want to see them tear it up in their home practice room up close and personal try Dull knives live from the Warning cave De(tor) it's on their channel
They did two TED Talks you will do yourself a disservice if you dont watch them, say what you want although if you thought that wasn't tight ? Watched adults 20 years older that couldn't do that, pretty sure they were about 12,14 and 16 give your head a shake.
My daughter was musical, performing, competing, learning guitar and piano, all while growing up. I get it. I LOVED this. Having gushed over "Hell You Call A Dream" in my first introduction to TW, I can tell you the contrast is quite welcome and offers context as to their evolution. 🔥
Survive is nostalgic for OG Warning fans, but I agree it's just an ok song. I enjoy it live now - since they're adults rather than preteens/teensgers, but it's not a song I play on its own. I suggest maybe some more newer stuff
My friend: DarWin and The Warning... 2 of the Best Bands in the World!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't understand why it's necessary to bring in the negativity toward children. They are doing their best, they are doing better than most damn adults. They are probably child prodigies. And yet, reactors try to find the negatives in the artistry that these children are putting out into the world. What are you accomplishing by being negative toward children? Constructive criticism? Toward whom? Are your criticisms going to go back 10 years in the past and affect their future? I just don't understand.
They are exceedingly talented. I complimented many things during the reaction. Yet, you seem determined to focus on the not-so-glowing things I said. I tell the truth, never to injure, but because people watch my reactions to hear what I think. I'm unlike too many reactors, who seem to always LOVE the track (they do it for views). I'd rather be honest.
Thank you! I think the same thing! Like yes, they're cute but it's wait until they get a good gist of where the band is now before going back. Plus it doesn't sound like the requestir mentioned to her how the young the ladies were here
Honestly, reacting to their older stuff kind of does them a disservice. It’s great for once you get to know the band to go back and see where they started from. However , listening to their newest stuff will give you a good idea of where the band is and what kind of music they play and how tight they are. Once you get to know them, then it’s fun to go down and see where they started from, but that’s just my opinion.
I definitely agree with that. The exception would be Fairy Voice Mother who did a first listen of their original Enter Sandman cover, then went immediately into Evolve from the VMAs. Her reaction when she saw what they had become was priceless.
@@markflint2629 fair enough. I just dint find their older stuff as catchy and as representative as their current musicianship and writing. I listen to QOTMS, Error and KMF- but never go out of my way to listen to the full XX1 Century Blood album. I like When I'm Alone and Unmendable but that's really it. If someone had played me one of those albums, is obviously admitr their talents at that age but they wouldn't get me super excited. We are all different though, so that's fine. Airtight, I know the ladies don't like to listen to their old stuff either 😂
Hello my friend!!!...Believe me this: You have to react to this Incredible Singer with the Most Insane Vocal Range of The World (7.5 Octaves)!!!...When I recommend Dimash to someone like you, sometimes they laugh and they look at me with that look that says "Have you gone crazy?...Nobody can sing like that"....And I smile and tell them "Do you want to bet your car?"...Of course after they hear him their faces say it all!!...Lol!!...They can't believe what they are seeing and hearing!!....So well, I want to invite you to make a reaction to this incredible singer, who is leaving all the experts with their jaws literally on the floor....In 2017, a 22-year-old singer from Kazakhstan, named Dimash Kudaibergen, was invited to participate in the famous Chinese program for professional singers called "The Singer"... In his first appearance, Dimash covered one of the most difficult songs in the world, a famous French composition called "S.O.S. D'un Terrien En Détresse"!!....Since then all this madness began on the internet, RU-vid and social networks worldwide and he is already considered the best singer on the entire planet... It is almost impossible to see a human being, being able to reach vocal ranges of 8 octaves, that is, the 88 keys of a digital piano, which allows him to reach all registers, both masculine and feminine, that is, he can sing as Bass, Baritone, Tenor, Contratenor, Contralto, Mezzosoprano and Soprano!!...You can see in RU-vid to all kinds of experts (Vocal coaches, analysts, singing teachers, singers, youtubers, reactors, etc.), who have dedicated themselves to watching his videos and verifying for themselves that what is said about him is completely true!!...In addition to all this, Dimash is capable of singing in more than 12 languages!!...In all his concerts worldwide, tickets are sold in just seconds, via the internet, due to the immense popularity he has worldwide!!...Anyway, I think you haven't met this impressive singer yet, so here is the link to the first song that Dimash performed in China in that year 2017, the song S.O.S., and if it doesn't bother you, I would like you to mention me as the person who recommended it to you!!...Warning: You have to be prepared for thousands of views, comments and new subscribers...The video It is more recent, so it does not have the millions of views that the first ones, but it is more complete, including an intro, subtitles in several languages and better audio and sound quality...ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bDX3FhmyNac.html
Looks like you are more into instrumentation of a song than what it delivers lyrically. You loved Dany's guitar tone in HYCAD in previous reaction but found Survive bland. A song is a song because there are words in it that listeners relate to. What a band is saying and how it is saying it, defines songwriting ability. And in that respect The Warning, at any age, are peerless. The way Pau starts this song with a full blast of angst as demanded by her poetry is a testament to that. The tone of a soul pouring out its emotions is more important than the tone of instruments. The very reason why Dylan's Blowin' in the Wind or Simon-Garf's Bridge over Troubled Water resonate with people all over the world till today. In all probability, Survive was written in 2016. This performance is from Jan. 2017, when they didn't have access to top of the line instruments that they use today or the money to ship their own kits to venues all over the world. Pau's set was rented locally. She was a Sabian Cymbals artist by then. However, Dany & Ale were still not signed with PRS Guitars & Spector Bass respectively. As many had suggested below, you may listen to Survive from Teatro Met concert in August 2022. Although I doubt whether that will change your assessment because the soul of Survive, that had lifted many out of despair over the years, had failed to reach you. No problem, rock on with other songs.
For the record: Not once did I use the word "bland". I loved this performance, I just wasn't rocked by this particular song. I went in knowing they were young. I raised a musical daughter, so I understand early performances and how talented artists (like TW) evolve over time. I liked the song. But I'm also not going to pretend - for views and likes - that it blew me away if it didn't. I always compliment what I enjoy. And I complimented the girls in this performance. Upon watching it a second time on my own, I was able to more clearly discern the lyrics, which are markedly about early life and them powering through to succeed.
@@VocalCitizen For the record - I never suggested that you uttered the word "bland" - neither did I insinuate that you need to pretend liking a song to increase viewership Survive is about a person recovering from a broken relationship & moving on defiantly. TW had subtly arranged their music to differentiate each verse while using anti-chorus to break away from normal buildups. They changed the main rhythm from section to section, which may escape the not so discerning listeners. Most importantly this song starts with the chorus which is not common nowadays. And then in the outro, which was unexpected, they chose the less popular method of riff based crescendo to "melt faces". As I said earlier, TW at any age is better than most bands in terms of songwriting nuances & intelligence. These subtleties often elude listeners used to predictable structure.
Yeah you should've checked out their more recent performance at teatro metropolitan. And to TW recommend newer videos to reactors new to the warning. Let's stop wasting their time with their early adorable content when they've gotten much better and tighter.
I will be checking out a BUNCH of their music. This was a priority request, so I followed the link I was given. I don't mind reacting to later performances of this. I would dig that.
