Ale's bass is a custom made Spector. The song Z has a good Dany solo - Teatro Metropolitan, naturally. Their cover of Atlas Rise from a few years ago at the Whiskey -a-Go-go really shows off how well Dany handles the parts of two guitars expertly.

Exactly this. They have a couple of songs with a Dany solo, but the best "pure demonstration of skill" is the cover of Atlas Rise at the Whisky.

Check out “Z” for a good guitar solo from Dany. Personally, it’s the lack of gratuitous soloing that has me like this band so much. They work together to create their sound.

Same here... *They compose solos that fit the song,* rather than showcase the performer. One of Dany's best solos is in *Show Me the Light,* a ballad Pau sings on their first album. It's very brief, very quiet, very much like David Gilmour would have done, and it cuts like a knife. The Dakota Bar 2018 performance of that song is EPIC. Ale's bass tone on that performance is similar to Jaco Pastorius' work on Joni Mitchell albums. Pau's lead is pure emotion, and their vocal harmonies seal the deal. This is a BAND, not a bunch of egos competing for the spotlight.

Dany is much more from the David Gilmore school of guitar solos--have it fit the song and style. That being said, Z or Narcisista are a couple where she is featured more prominently. Her solos are not long or super complicated, but they do come out from time to time. They are as skilled as any band I think have heard in easily sliding back and forth between double time and half time. They ise it so effectively to set mood in many of their pieces. While more often than not both Pau & Ale slide in and out, but it is not unusual that only one of Pau and/or Ale slide into half time. I am also amazed at how good Pau is at playing both on the front of the beat, but also on the back of the beat. Money is a great one where she is pulling full Basie on the back side, then switch to the front. The three of them have a very high musical intelligence for being so young (although they have played hundreds of live shows and been doing it for a decade).

🎯 Yes!! Their music IQ is off the charts for the lack of recognition it gets. Pau crafts her drum work like a classical composer while driving a high energy Rock Band at full throttle, her genius is insane it's so good. All these ladies are amazing musically. Great post! ✌️💖🎼

As others have said, Dany has a great solo in Z. She also has a chance to shine in XXI Century Blood and Survive. Both of those are from their first full album, XXI Century Blood(2017), so she was 16 when they were recorded. For Blood I'd recommend the official music video, it's pretty epic, and for Survive you can find it live from a bunch of different performances, but you should probably pick the one from TEDx or from this same concert as UGH. I've heard she doesn't typically write solos for herself because she doesn't want to come off as trying to outshine her sisters.
@Biomirth
@Biomirth 5 месяцев назад
I love Dany's solo in XXI Century Blood, especially in the video because it's major tone really stands so starkly in contrast to the rest of the narrative. There she is, on the rooftop, bringing light to the darkness like a sunrise. She does often go for some unusually major key sounding riffs which I think sets their sound on it's head in a way: Instead of the sweet song having a minor dark and anguished solo she'll add a sweet solo to an anguished song. Much like, very solo.
@zroter
@zroter 5 месяцев назад
There are not a lot of very technical and long solos in The Warning discography, that's not really their style. However, the ending of Survive (from their first LP), where all three go nuts, is pretty epic. The recommended version of this song is the one they played as a third and final song in their 2017 TEDx talk. They also played it at Teatro Metropolitan CDMX.

Yes, Dany is extremely aware of what each song needs in order for it to fully blossom and breathe, but she does shred on “Z”, and plays excellent solos on “Narcisista” and”Queen of the Murder Scene”. They are all very aware of what every song requires before they share it with their fans.

*Ugh* *Ugh* is the 3rd song on the "Queen of the Murder Scene" (aka QOTMS) album released in 2018 when DPA/TW were an independent band... QOTMS is a concept album that tells a story from the first song to the last... hearing the album out of order makes it hard to follow the story... like reading a book's chapters out of order... two other original songs, *The One* and *The Sacrifice* , were spawned from *Ugh* ... *Ugh* was the working title because it was a hard one, they really had to work on it, and they actually wanted to shelve it... thankfully their father kept after them to complete it... they were like "ugh! do we have to?" and *Ugh* stuck as the official name, too... the result is great! this is one of their songs that you might want to think twice about playing when you are driving 😹 Fun Fact: one of their songs has/had the working title of "Gracias"... "Gracias" is short for "Gracias, K-Pop" which is a salute from them to the K-Pop genre which has some influences on their sound and style... when they are playing, sometimes Ale will ask which song is up next and she'll get the answer "Gracias" which she knows that song by instead of its official song title... I hear a lot of Grand Funk Railroad’s approach to composition and maintaining drive as a hard rock trio in The Warning’s music. They sacrifice dynamic range within a composition and replace it with driving beat alternated in contrast against heavy syncopation in the bridges and such. Just like GFR, The Warning make a statement with their high voltage energy this way. Doing this set GFR apart from every other band in the 60s and 70s and that The Warning is now doing the same sets them apart from the entire rest of today’s rock ands. Pau is brilliant at drumming this.

Hey Jules! I know many have recommended Z to see Dany Shred. But, her biggest guitar Idols are David Gilmour and Brian May, so she loves to do soulful guitar work rather than shredding. I would recommend "Show Me The Light" from Dakota Bar, and "XXI Century Blood" title track of their first album to hear some great solos from Dany. I have to say, "Ugh" has been in my top 5 since I first heard it. I am a Queenryche fan and it gives me strong Queensryche vibes.

I like how the bass line is used like Muse does it, where the bass goes from following the drums to following the guitar, while being front and center in the mix. Add some good guitar and drum fills and you have yourself a good song. It did take me some listens to adjust to this song, as the general style of it is a few steps away from the music I like, but I never skip it and it grows on me with every listen.

Aloha Jules, after having watched a lot of interviews and documentaries, I honestly cannot remember where the ladies explain their approach to guitar solos within their compositions, but they decide how much of each instrument is given a little limelight...they write what is best for a given song, and it's not about gratuitous solos for anyone. Sure Ale plays several intro solos, but nothing that goes on and on...Ale used to play an extended intro solo for Dust To Dust, but not anymore. Pau has never played an extended solo...she has some highlighted sections within songs where she shines, but nothing like what Beto Ramos played during Narcissista (TMCDMX). And Dany has the one shredding solo in Z, but also a few highlighted segments in other songs like Martirio. They are all about the "band sound" not about self aggrandizement, IMHO. #APDVillaReality

Several years ago they did a cover of Atlas Rise at the Whisky a GoGo that has some guitar work that shows her skill more and several years ago they did a medley of songs from different artists to introduce the festival lineup for The Mother of All Rock Fest. The drum fill you repeated at about the 5:10 time stamp was actually played at about the 3:30 time stamp. You missed it the first time. 😊👍 Alejandra's bass is a custom Spector USA NS-5 XL, called "Ale's Inferno" because of the ember looking finish. She designed the bass with the Spector team. When they were recording their "Error" album in the autumn of 2020 the Spector team drove from Woodstock, NY to Clifton, NJ to personally deliver the bass to her. Alejandra was 15 at the time and has been a Spector artist since she was about 14 years old. They don't write many guitar solos into their music. They don't follow the old rock format of a guitar solo for the sake of a guitar solo. They write their songs according to what the song needs, as explained by them. Some songs where Dany shreds are "Z", "Survive", "XXI Century Blood", "Queen of the Murder Scene."

Dany soloed a bit more earlier in their discography. Her solos tend to be shortish, melodic, and in service to the song. Others have suggested a couple of good examples (Z & QotMS) let me point u toward their official video for XXI Century Blood. IMNSHO, her best solo to this point in time.

Dany isn’t into shredding. Her guitar heroes are Brian May, Gilmour, and Matt Bellamy. She has shared that the song that changed her life was Comfortably Numb. The solo in that song deeply moved her emotionally. Her solos are almost always soulful and melodic. I have dropped hints to her to check out Gary Moore, as I know she would love his playing, but it seems that she is too busy right now to dive into finding new music…which I totally get as she is actually running their Patreon account on top of everything else required with the band.

Dany's vocals on almost every song are her "look at me" and well deserved. That she sings so well and powerfully while playing guitar is nearly as impressive as when Pau sings lead. I really like that TW don't feel the need to insert a solo into every song. It's makes one pay attention when there IS one. I also LOVE that Ale and her bass are often the lead in to their songs. What you need to understand about The Warning is what they say over and over- They do what the song needs so there are rarely guitar solos. I personally despise non-essential solos in songs. Mandatory shredding is just showing off and non-productive to the song. Just because she can doesn't mean she needs to. The one guitar solo I recall is in "Z". Here is that performance from the Teatro Metropolitan concert (actually the first song of the concert)- ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-s-1gwSegQ7E.html

*UGH* is a little out of context here. That said, it rocks. It's best experienced as a listen to the full *Queen of the Murder Scene* album or video concert (Lunario, 2018, was the debut of the album). It's a spectacular, tragic, "rock novel," with a prologue and four chapters of three songs each. That album has a little of every genre related to rock on it, from a folk ballad to demented cheerleader punk, to a stadium rocker, with elements of heavy metal and K-pop in between. Ale was 13, Pau 16, and Dany 18 when QOTMS came out. It's an AMAZING piece of work on its own, but for teenagers writing in their second language and composing original music? OMFG level compositions! Many consider it to be among their best work. If you watch that Lunario 2018 concert, you'll do well to read the lyrics first, and perhaps look up *Queen of the Murder Scene* on Wikipedia for insights into the story. It's deep, dark, raw, and emotional.

There's not really anything crazy in terms of guitar difficulty in their discography. People have said Z, and while it's a high energy solo, it's still fairly basic (straight forward tapping solo), so I wouldn't expect to be blown away by just guitar playing in any of their stuff. When they do have solos, they're typically written to be more melodic and part of the song than something to wow the audience with. Their biggest appeals are solid songwriting, excellent showmanship, respectable live accuracy, and then their x factor is them being likable, fun people that smartly used the internet a lot to interact with their fans.

Danny doesn’t do a lot of “shredding” guitar solos. She certainly knows how to solo, as shown in Z and frankly in their very first vid covering Enter Sandman, but she plays exactly (imo) what is needed to fill the sound. One of the main criticisms of the band is that there aren’t enough guitar solos. I think the people that make those criticisms are missing the point and should just move on if they think that music is only good if it includes shredding solos. Dani plays what’s needed to fill the sound in this three-piece ensemble of amazing musicians. I sent someone near and dear to me a video of The Warning playing. His reaction was to send me a video of a group of guys playing a song with an incredibly intricate, but equally soul-less shredding guitar solo in the middle. My only response was “Wow. fast solo“. He also commented when I brought up the Warning “oh yeah, that girl band”. Some people just can’t wrap their head around the fact that these girls rock and have put out many dozen amazing songs that have credible feel. I’m certainly not saying that you’re in this category of listeners. All I’m saying is I believe people who actually criticize the band because Dani doesn’t play intricate solos are just missing the point. FYI … I remember criticizing a popular grunge band in the 90s because the guitar player didn’t do solos. In his case, however, I don’t think he actually knew how to play a decent solo. Big difference.

see what you get for skipping the show opener?? 😜 Z is the song you want IMO to see a good Dany shred. It has everything that an opening song ought to. Nice reaction and analysis. I LOVE THIS BAND !! ✌️💖🎼

ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jvir76ZUBI4.html Dany can shred of course! She only plays a solo when it benefits the song for their own music so 'Z' from this same concert is an obvious recommendation! Furthermore don't be nervous about what you want to react to. It's your journey and everything you want to watch is worth reacting to!
