They've been opening the recent shows on the tour with Z cuz they extend the intro to give Dany time to introduce everyone. I like how Ale's bass is featured prominently throughout the song. I agree with the Mrs. that the only bad thing about this song is that it's too short, like Dull Knives, although both of those songs have epic outros. The outro for Dull Knives is just absolutely insane live cuz Pau beats her kit like it stole something. Seeing Dany play the solo for this song with the tapping in person was awesome too! Dany might run into the crowd during Survive when you see them at the Troubadour cuz she's been doing that at some of the shows.

Love that Ale's bass drives the whole song. Such a groovy tune. They have been starting the show with Z, at least in Chicago they did. Sounded fantastic and Ale's bass sounded amazing. There's a video of Ale showing Dany how to play bass, and specifically this song. Hilarious and shows their easygoing personalities.

Ale's bass really carries this song. And I like the different combinations of voices: Dany and Pau, Dany and Ale, and Ale and Pau.

I love their live session, that rehearsal space you're referring to is called Victoria Records, Z has a catchy beat, just listen to Ale's basslines plus she sings, Pau's pounding drums, and Dany's sweet riffs plus that epic solo, I love it. 8.9 easy. (Hi Mrs. DH)

Harrumph!! Mrs H will be happy that they do stretch it out a bit in concert, because this song has become their usual opener and they extend the intro while Dany introduces the band. Hope you get to a review of Money (their latest release) before you see them live. 👍😎

It's always great having Mrs. H. along and getting her perspective on a video. I was hoping you'd go for an 8.6, but just a split second before you announced your score I knew it was going to be 8.4. The song is definitely a banger and begs to be performed live, and since this is the Mayday Tour, and since "Z" is on _Mayday,_ you will get to see them perform it live!

If I've remembered correctly, they have 12 core songs that they've performed at every show in the US: * Mayday + Money (7) * Narcisista * Enter Sandman * Survive * Dust to Dust * Dull Knives (less sure about this) The floaters that I recall are When I'm Alone, Ugh, Red Hands Never Fade, QoTMS, and P.S.Y.C.H.O.T.I.C.

There are more complex, fancier songs on Mayday yeah. That having been said this might be my favorite song off the EP. Mrs nailed it. It's got a punk/basic rock feel to it. It's got that groove and yeah Dani"s vocals are a more evolved version of Joan Jett's style. You make a nice team. David going into the complexity and instrumentals, Mrs on vocals lyrics and overall feels. Also note that bit at the end that was like an evolved Angus Young feel in Dani's guitar. That's a fair score; it's not the most sophisticated song. But...as you say simple is effective when done properly. As I said you make a wonderful team, and I always look forward to these collaborations. (I think the shortness of the song goes back to that punk/rock feel, and the whole throwback thing where songs were built for radio. The obscurity of the backing vocals might also be a punk thing. Final note. David when your significant other says she wants to spend her free time with you, you should agree that spending time with her is wonderful. Love that you love us but take the compliment and return it. In other words don't act quite so much like a typical guy, lol)

Nice bonus to have Mrs. H! I can hear the backing vocals pretty well, though I agree they could've been a little more prominent. What I like most about this one is the drive from Pau, especially the tom use.

I had a similar reaction to their backing vocals on some other songs, like Choke uses the same approach, but.. now I absolutely love it, no holds barred. They're done something really unique and creative with their backing vocals on quite a few tracks where Pau or Ale will sing a low harmony, sometimes the octave, no very loud. It's not supposed to have the same effect as a traditional vocal harmony sung in close pitch at a higher volume, where the harmony itself is a prominent feature. It's more about creating another texture and fullness in the sound, and will sometimes punch in a little flavor at the end of phrases, but without disturbing the main vocal melody the way a traditional harmony does. I really dig it, and if you listen for it, it's a signature device of theirs they use often!

I LOVE that they trade off on singing pairs and singing solos in this song!!! Best use of shared vocal pairs I've heard from them so far! Disagree about the score, but I respect your informed opinion always. 9.0 for me. This is one of the greatest songs of 2022 .... it is truly Gen Z rock, which is essentially a brand new invention that has only a couple of artists, one of whom is The Warning... should be in regular circulation on streaming networks. Guitar-wise it's Dany's most impressive solo. Creativity-wise it is a very original bass line and guitar line together..... and one of Pau's typically original drum parts.... vocally it is extremely inventive how all 3 work together in a brilliant teamwork... What a blast of energy this song is! Right up there with Evolve and Disciple and Choke imho.

Like your react as always, and in company better, its some kind of formula they use like chocolate, in little bits you always go for more. That makes you repeat the songs again and again and with the abrupt end you carve for more. Kind of gentleman, those headphones of Mrs. Heretic are great not only for gaming , for music also. you can use them also

Nice to see the boss by your side ;) Good score, for my personal taste and in a totally subjective way I would have given it more, but with your arguments it doesn't even occur to me to debate it because it seems fair and very justified, besides, it's a high score, so no complaints from my side ;) As Mrs. Hereje said, it was short for me too, but I think you're right to comment that it wouldn't allow a much longer duration either, possibly it would become repetitive or there would be parts that wouldn't make sense musically. I hope you give us a review when you (both of you) come back from seeing them live, I've seen some from other reenactors and they all seem delighted and amazed by them (I didn't expect less hehehe). It’s a simple song in many ways, but it’s really important for Ale to lock into Pau’s rhythm, to keep the groove going. I believe Ale said this was the hardest Mayday song for her to record; producer David Bendeth pushed them on their timing. Bands with two guitars often have such a wall of sound that the bass player could be way off and no one hears, but any mistake by Ale would jump out on this song. I have a contest going with myself to catch an error by Ale anywhere in their live shows. If there has been one I missed it.

I'm watching this with speakers that are on my desk and the backing vocals come through plain as day. Especially before and during Danys guitar solo. Maybe it comes through differently using ear buds as you guys are using, just a possible guess.

OK first off - Mrs Heretic is looking far more comfortable with the process. Second - 3 months short . . . . (talking about Teatro Met 2022) so close yet so far. Great audio, very well filmed .. . and it gets you out of that session studio lol. Third - how Dany comes out of that solo into the group progression for me is the standout (mainly because we don't normally hear Dany solo😀) Forth - I put your score at 8.3-8.5 so the 8.4 fell into the gap selected - I feel good about that guess 🤣 Cheers from OZ 🦘 - I agree with your comments (and those from Wifey) so a pleasure as always mate. I never caught it until now, had to go watch the video. At about 1:44 Ale switches from backing Dani, to doing lead with Pau backing. I am not a musician so perhaps that doesn't really count as doing lead? I just had never caught it before.

David the first few times I heard this song I agreed with your score, mid 8s and it was one of my least favorites from the EP. However, after listening to it multiple times, I've changed my opinion. One we get a rare Dany solo, two we get Ale singing which is worth four tenths of a point right there, plus now I've heard it live and in context, the song itself just makes more sense. Its a lead off song to get the crowd moving, just like a lead off hitter in baseball. 9.0-9.2 for me. As always, I respect your opinion and both opinions in this case. Hi Mrs H. Always great to have you on board! PS..No evaluating at the show. Put your brain to rest and just enjoy some fantastic music.

Interesting. Go back to Dany’s solo and listen to Ale and Pau doing the vocals. They’re up in the mix there and I agree. Too often Ale is buried in the mix and I think there is some over compensation in bringing Pau down because she is so powerful but in that section you can really hear Ale and she needs to be brought up more often. Amazing voice.

The Warning...Z! Brother you totally missed it when Dany stopped singing and you could clearly see and hear Ale and Pau taking over the vocals! It happens just before Dany's solo. Listen to it again and you will see and hear what I am talking about. Dany steps away from the mic and plays a "pre-solo" to her solo and Ale singing lower (kinda sounds like Ale) and Pau singing higher. 💖✨🔥⚡

@@esco7500 No the song ended up on the cutting room floor. I took the instrumental rough cut and asked our manager if I could use it as background music for the channel. I got permission to use it, as long as I keep the level of the song low in the background, and as long as I don't distribute it.

As David would say, keep the pitchforks back, TWA: this is my least favorite of the 6. From a composition, not very complex. From a recording, Dany’s guitar level is too low (compare to studio track) and the video cuts before her solo ends. But on an EP of 6 great tracks, least favorite ain’t so bad. That pitchfork comment can be overplayed a bit on this channel, to me if I see anyone of David himself telling people to keep the pitchforks away I tend to not watch or I wait days. The reason being is I’m not really interested in nitpicking or negativity, that’s me, maybe others like that. All I can do is to let you know that what you say could have turned people off from watching if they happened to look at the comments first before watching and see “keep the pitchforks away”. You know that I often find that there is nothing wrong what so ever and comments like that are really just being over dramatic. In reality David is usually very fair and even if he’s not crazy about something, he won’t be a jerk or cruel. He knows how to give an opinion without being an a hole.

How about you explain in terms of musicality what b to g to f means? (Show don’t just tell) It will remain a technical assessment but will have a meaning within the sound we are hearing. Then… All I heard was a little of this and that all else was really good, for a song so far away from a 9. I got lost. Same with the “STRONG THUMB UP” instead of two with the main argument the volume for the other vocalist and the duration. ART IS SUBJECTIVE, GIVEN IT A SCORE YOU WANT TO MAKE IT OBJECTIVE, HOWEVER, YOUR EXPLANATION ISN’T SUFFICIENT NOR CLEAR ENOUGH. All share with respect to you both. ❤️
