This brings back memories of all my hours virtual scuba diving on the Wii, with Hayley's hauntingly beautiful voice setting the mood. Endless Ocean is a beautiful game which, in all honesty, is probably what drove me to try real scuba (best decision I ever made). And I think Hayley Westenra's talent really brought it all together.
this is the one song I ALWAYS listened to, drove my brother crazy XD it was especially beautiful when the dolphins called as well. Too bad I could never get past the Atoll...
Ivy Kowalis the second game, Endless Ocean: Blue World (which is not only better than the first, but is easily the best game I have ever played) honestly helped me realize I could go into biology as a career. I've always been into it, but the Endless Ocean games really progressed that decision (granted I'm still a teenager but it's good knowing what I'd like to do)
Yeah, Endless Ocean is what got me interested in scuba, and probably a big part of why I'm as interested as I am in marine biology. I agree that Blue World is better than the original, probably one of the best games if not the best I've ever played. The only thing I prefer about the original is the soundtrack
I have heard almost every song that this woman has sung and I absolutely love every single one of them. I seriously don't know why Hayley is not more popular.
The water's wide, I cannot get over And neither have I wings to fly Give me a boat that'll carry two And both shall row, my love and I Where love is planted oh there it grows It grows and blossoms like a rose It has a sweet and pleasant smell No flower on earth can it excel The ship there is and she sails the sea She's loaded deep as deep can be But not so deep as the love I'm in I know not if I sink or swim Oh, love is gentle, love is kind The sweetest flower when first it's new But love grows old and waxes cold And fades away like morning dew
To miss Hayley Weastenra I want your deaf children to hear this song with your beautiful singing voice. But listening to your beautiful voice will not last for a lifetime. I am an elementary school teacher in Miyagi prefecture, Japan, who is a deaf child.
There is a story about the lyrics of this pretty old Scottish song , sad story between James Douglas 2nd Marquess of Douglas , and Lady Barbara Erskine around the 1660's in Scotland. Wikipedia it folks .
Every time I seat to listen to another song by this wonderful child of God, I am even more spellbound. She follows, somehow, the road open by Enya, Loreena MacKenitt. Though, yet, she has the advantage of being younger, and youth is Beauty... Wonderful, a song for leading us through heaven. Excellent. The lyrics are also a deep thing to ponder. Well done, Hayley Westenra!
Heard this song for the first time few minutes ago...soooooooooo beautiful. That crystal clear voice and the celtic sounds - simply. beautiful. utterly. perfect!
Amen! Lisa Kelly makes me want to curl up and purr, but Hayley's better moments make me want to stand up and salute (and not just when she sings "God Defend New Zealand").
I think that the Japanese, whom we, in the Canadian navy, loved & admired so much, are affectionately connected to Hayley. We had good times in Sasebo & Yokosuka in the '50s. I never once heard a negative word spoken against the good people of Japan. And we were, after all, strangers there. Some were so attached to Sasebo that they talked of it, years later, as though it were in a dream.
Maria L its a wonderful game, and it really does fit, such songs bring out beauty in the oceans. the game isnt about sharks eating people alive its about the beauty underwater we may be blind to
+Maria L The game is lovely. The game is about a diver and a woman on a ship, who lost her father to the sea long ago. If you play, the story is actually quite emotional and complex. If you sit in the chair on the deck at night-time, you can see the sea and any land that might be behind you, and this song begins to play. It is actually a very deep emotional game, but it is mostly designed to show you the beauty of the ocean, and the beauty of the whole natural world.I think that I see this song as the sad one of the group. Play the game before you comment next time is all I'm trying to say. You clearly haven't.

Hayley has such a beautiful and powerful voice--I'm SO jealous! ;) This song was sung wonderfully, great job Hayley! And thanks kanou2007, for sharing this beautiful song with us! :)
what an odd thing to say below. lisa's ok, but hayley's voice is so soothing, it makes time stand still. hayley's superior quality over such a variety of songs make her number one choice as favourite artist. she also travels the world more than other artists making live performances more accessible.
I’m singing this song in chorus and I thought it sounded familiar... then I realized it’s in Endless Ocean. I used to play that game so much on the wii haha
O_O I was feeling so down a few minutes ago and after listening to this song, i just melted into feeling much better!!! I remember singing this in a boychoir i was in when i was 10 and also singing this in childrens choir... :) Such a good song
I've changed my mind about this track, by the way. The original album track does indeed sound as though it's been pitch corrected (I have the album), though for no good reason. Also, it is an anomaly on the album it was released on. I've noticed that the same album's international release didn't have the track included, probably because it couldn't have pitch correction on any tracks to be eligible for a certain award.
One thing that I never will accept until the end of my life: In this multitude of times and eras, possibilities and people and, in the same 'moment' of my fast life, find someone like this woman and can not call her of 'wife'. I know this frustration is not only my, but... it will chase me in dreams until the last moments of life.
