This video is from a 1965 PBS series for children called "What's New." I must explain the pressure I was under in all of these little videos. Each is taken from one of 6 half-hour shows all produced at Brooklyn college. I decided what I was going to sing, and wrote all of the intros. But - what I had to do was memorize the entire half-hour, including camera cues. The director (the late, wonderful Joan Sheppard,) did not want any edits. If I made a mistake 24 minutes into the taping, I had to start over. That's why even though I clearly am stumbling in this intro, and can't remember the script, I'm still plowing forth, unwilling to stop and start the whole show over! At least what I'm saying makes sense, right? I won't even get into the way I'm doing this beautiful old folk song. I hope you enjoy laughing at me.

I first heard Pete Seeger perform this song in concert way back when. And it still gives me goosebumps when I hear it. Tracy's cover is as good as any I've heard. Bless those who know and sing this great song.

Wonderful. You could have had a national kids show.

Thank you. I was quite young and didn't know how to parlay this show into something more. I've had several rewarding careers, but it would have been great fun to do a national show, or even more of these! Thanks for watching.

What a perfectly modulated voice. And how lucky are we to have these great preservations on video. It's like they were shot last week.

This is the first tune I learned to play on the dulcimer (thanks to Jessica Comeau), but I had never heard it sung until now! I’m glad I came across these lovely videos. You did amazingly well, especially considering the pressure and that you were just 23 years old!

@@tracynewman3256 you are wonderful, I don't know how to say this in words but its your essence, your smile and your voice and the Chet Adkins style story telling guitar picking. Glad your still around and aged so well. Hope to see you in a live performance sometime.

I am in film myself and also have done a PBS program, I know the pressures it can be but you were doing it when it really was tough, lol I edit my own stuff so we edited everything, I love this, wish I could see your whole shows, I was on PBS IN Springfield Missouri here in the Ozarks and on RSU IN Claremore Oklahoma, Were you nationwide? I never seen you until tonight, I to am a folk singer, I simply love your music, Thanks for putting it out here for us to find and hear,

Kelly - a lot of songs from my shows are up. I didn't post them all because of various problems with them, some technical, some just too embarrassing. If you type in "Tracy Newman What's New," you will find many of them, but not all, for some reason. You have to keep searching. I'm working on consolidating them, but I posted them randomly at the beginning, so I'm paying for that now. I'm so glad you like them and have had similar experiences!

@@tracynewman3256 Thank you, Please keep me informed if you think of it when and if you do anything else, I hope you still sing, Make some new songs and post to, lol I post all my stuff and it's not even good lol, Thank you so much for replying to my message, God bless and Happy Easter,

The original Scots come from, what we now call, Ireland. England and Ireland have influenced each other for millennia.
@brucecollins4729
@brucecollins4729 3 года назад
@@thechessclub8527 the scots never came from ireland. that is based on myth not fact. scotland has been an inhabited land long before ireland. the first people to enter ireland were the picts from scotland. (even irish historians now concede) then the gaels came much later . have a look at this as this is the most convincing route of all to me. not this queen scota nonsense. type in .....the origins of the irish and scots gaels on irish origenes....for a more realistic account. the scots coming from ireland is,nt and has never been taught in scottish schools and never will be. have a good look at the map of britain and ireland and ask yourself....how did these tribes get to ireland if not through britain. even modern migrants are still taking the old route from calais to dover in england.
