This reminds me of my sister Robin who died at the young age of 24 seven days before her 25th birthday.......she always saw .....The whole of The MooN.....you saw it My angel.....Lovingly j 🕊
Saw them a few weeks ago. He's still unbelievable. And it is amazing how he pronounces every syllable perfect. His beautiful lyrics are there to pick up. Even for a non native speaker, every sentence he sings is spot on to enjoy.
Brilliant. Utterly brilliant. Stand up and take a bow. 30 odd years on, it's as fresh as the first time I heard it. This is part of the soundtrack of my life.
Well said sean,a gem of a song/set of lyrics it brings a feelin of singin AT someone..they dont exist but you care enough to warn em! Lol...(that is more after a few pints tho lotta finger-pointin goin on!)
you will probably never have any idea how much this type of music means to poor people in third world countries or people anywhere who are disadvantaged. may God bless you
I was 15 when this song came out in 1985 -i also saw the whole of the moon. I miss those days so much , chasing girls and drinking beers smoking weed and long hot summer nights-oh dear ive given myself a lump in my throat thinking about others that saw the whole of the moon to many times -RIP you guys
I've watched this video loads of times and I've only just noticed at 4.41, Mike Scott uses the microphone to push his glasses up. Brilliant. Amazing song ❤️
Love this song...I hear it on the final series..The Affair...it brought tears to my eyes. It was played at Whitney's wedding and at the ending. Bravo to the writer!!!!
Mike Scott is a treasure! He is unbelievable song writer. He is definitely pure natural talent when it comes to song writing . Thank you Mr Scott you are amazing in my book . Great Song writer , did not go unnoticed with me ...love you brother!
I saw The Waterboys several times in the 80s. It was always impressive to see how well they played their instruments and how good they were live, and that they were able to put a new spin on their excellent songs. This song is the only Waterboys song that ever gets played on the radio, and much as I love it, it gets tedious when there is so much excellent music from them to choose from. I would be a bit disappointed if they were still playing this song in 2014 exactly the way they recorded it in 1985, when they had other band members including Karl Wallinger. I loved this.
This is a great version of a classic 80s tune it’s not only brilliant it’s beautiful and I love it and I’ll always love it and the 80s the best times forever
Loved the Waterboys ever since I heard this song 30 years ago. Great new arrangement! Saw them play this almost 30 years ago in 1986. What a mind trip.
I've just revisited them and need to give myself an uppercut for not been with them for the last 10 years. So much great music here. I'm now totally committed.
Love this laid back mellow version. Mike Scott timeless. I heard it for the very first time last night on "The Affair". What a really great song. Oh My My!
I have no idea where I was when this song first came to the airwaves but somehow I missed it! I just found it and I am so deeply moved by what I interpret to be the meaning of the stunning lyrics! It is one of the most whole-brain intelligent songs I've ever heard! I just read that this beautiful piece was written as a tribute to Prince! What a complete honor from Mike Scott, the front man! Wow!
You should never judge a song or what a band sounds like live by a video. A bad TV mix can ruin everything.I have seen the band several times over the last years and they always sound AMAZING, you may like them or not but live, they are a total blast!
I like everything about this, seems in the comments people are being overly critical - the mix sounds good, the lyrics are great and Mike Scott is dressed wonderfully!
This is music! I've been a fan since 1986 (Pinkpop festival together with The Cult & The Cure, to name a few). Fabulous song, and Mike is a fantastic song & lyrics writer. There, now you probably now how old I am.
Forgotten how wonderful this Celtic Rock epic truly is after all these years - loved it all over again in that wonderful series The Affair - brits to the fore in the acting stakes but loved the dance finale! Keep going boys and keep getting better as you always do.
