X-Men '97 is an American animated television series created by Beau DeMayo for the streaming service Disney+, based on the Marvel Comics superhero team X-Men. It is a revival of X-Men: The Animated Series (1992-1997), continuing the story of the X-Men who face new challenges following the loss of their leader, Professor Charles Xavier. X-Men '97 is produced by Marvel Studios Animation, with DeMayo as head writer for the first two seasons and Jake Castorena as supervising director.

I think you can look as it as almost just a mimic so he probably doesn’t know how to use other mutants powers to their full capabilities, so that’s why he goes down so easily

That's my take on it, he's like a captain ginyu, he can "take the body" but he has not mastered their powers he's mastered his own power to change. That makes him a jack of all trades master of none character but that's still unbelievably powerful when used as part of the team for subterfuge or in combat like turning into the blob to be a trampoline for gambit empowered wolverine

It is clearly stablished in the show and explained in their bio at the end of the show that they can only copy the physique and physical abilities of other mutants. Not all their powers.

I feel like obviously his trauma from sinister and overall experience he has not been in the lab as much he still needs to hone his skills he is op he just hasn’t come to adjust to his full potential like a bunch of mutants he’ll have his time to shine

Problem typically is when you have the option of potentially every ability rather than one, your ability to master them effectively in combat dwindles. Personally i would like him to go down the training route of just sticking to mimmicking a few people/abilitys for his own sake but yeah, he is just a walking cameo figure for now. He probably has more ptsd from losing fights now than whatever the sentinels and mr sinister ever did to him.

Haven't seen the show yet, just read the comics he was in- So maybe this is isn't relevent but still. Morph generally doesn't get the powers of the people he shifts into, dudes like, made of silly putty. Can take on their appearance and alter his muscle mass etc but can't copy their special abilities. I'm mostly familiar with the version of Morph from Exiles and AoA, but seeing as how 97 pulled his character design straight out of those two particular series- Feels safe to say.

Yes your right that morph doesn't copy powers in the comics. Now in the new show he has been shown copying powers but I think it's one at a lower level then the actual person and two maybe he doesn't know how to fully use the powers. The only one that they've shown that we know for a fact that he was using the power of was quicksilver.

no, the weak link is that rotten jubilee. i can't stand her! morph recently displayed the ability to have *superspeed* while wearing quicksilver's form. he ain't weak anymore.
