they are both legitimate reasons! I was born in 1975 so by my early teens I had TWC on permanently. Really didn't matter if anything else was on but the weather channel is where I would turn to...like someone who likes "Smooth Jazz" it's relaxing and informative and very unique. R.I.P. to Dave Schwartz. I will never forget you "friend", we never knew that you beat cancer twice before but tragically it was too much. Sorry buddy.
My goodness, I remember when I was a 15 year old meteorologist wannabe when TWC debuted in 1982 and would spend years watching this literally for hours. I miss this version and wish they would bring this format back. Now it's all about the personalities (presenters), stupid "reality" shows like Prospectors, Highway To Hell, etc, except for Tornado Alley Real Time than it is about what it's supposed to be which is the weather so I don't watch it as much anymore except for Weather Underground and a little bit of local weather updates. Thank you for uploading this gem :) Lol, I just noticed the date (April 16) and it was the day after my 17th birthday....COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One of the first female forecasters I remember when I got cable back in 1983. Id tune in early in the morning just to watch her! Seems like a hundred years ago.
+millenniumman75 Schmies, that's her. She, Gay Dawson, and Vicky Williams (Griffin) were the first female OCMs on TWC. Really would like to find out what happened to the Originals.
RK Larkin I think Sally Schmies has been married to Andre Bernier for years - they are in Cleveland, I think. Vicky Griffin would still be with Rick Griffin, I think - he was on TWC several years ago, but was let go.
+millenniumman75 Excellent! Glad to hear each is doing well. Sally had such a pleasant, clear, professional voice, one of those voices that made you watch TWC a lot longer than you should :-) Loved Gay's Southern twang -- found out she's and retired. Thanks for the update!
Yes, correct. We were college sweethearts in the late 1970s and married in 1987. Sally retired from TV 6 years ago. We've been here in Cleveland for almost 30 years now.
Anybody remember the guy who used to say "shiver me timbers"? Around 1983 - 84. He was my favorite. I suspect he was a little tooted up while on the air. TWC went downhill in the mid-late 1990's. Until then, it was ALWAYS on in my house. I never ever watched it after about 2000.
Sally Schmees Bernier, Gay Dawson, Vivian Brown, Jill Brown, Lisa Spencer, Jodi Saeland, Terri Smith, Kristen Dodd, Kristina Abernathy, Kim Perez Cunningham, Sharon Resultan, Bonnie McLaughlin Cannon, Marny Stanier, Cheryl Lemke, Kelly Cass, Alexandria Steele, Hilary Andrews, Liz Javis-Fabian, Vickie Williams (Griffin), Jeanetta Jones, Melissa Barrington, Heather Tesch, Lisa Mozer. God bless those Legendary Weather Channel hotties I've grown up and had a crush on. Screw Stephanie Abrams, and Jen Carfagno.
No one does the Weather Channel like the Originals OCM Babes of the 1980's like Liz Jarvis (Fabian), Gay Dawson, Sally Schmees (Bernier), Vicky Williams (Griffin), Kam Carman, Vivian Brown, Cheryl Lemke, Jeanetta Jones, Marny Stanier
Actually my wife's maiden name was Schmies, not Schmees. It has been Sally Bernier since 1987. Two meteorologists in the same house makes for great casual conversation! Thanks for posting this.
When I watch this video of weather I soon realize that America goes through weather change. Over the years. So all this talk about climate change, all the terminology is all abunch of hubbub.
