Consider the cotton patch geese, they were bred to weed farmers fields before herbicides. Also small, quiet, but endangered and in need of conservation.
I will take a closer at this breed. I noticed they are said to be well adapted to the heat of the southeast U.S. I wonder how they would tolerate our extreme cold. Thanks for the tip!
So... you guys have whole days where the sun doesn't go down. I'm curious how that affects when predators come out and when you put animals in for the 'night'? Thanks.
Good question! We have a few hours of dusk in the peak of summer & bears will be more active then. Most animals just have no choice & move in morning/evening when a little cooler. Domestic animals like chickens just seem to know when their day is over & head to the roosts even when the sun is still up.
