Hi Nicky. I definitely don't think less of you. Am proud of you, you can do it. I did the same 10 years ago, I was self medicating my social anxiety like you so can really understand how easy it is to get out of control. You have good support from you wonderful husband and family so you're half way there. ❤
Oh Nicky, Im so proud of you love, youve admitted something thats so hard to do and youre making changes. WELL DONE 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Youre a bloody inspiration you are. Honestly so so proud of you ❤❤❤
Yes you have been BRAVE Nicola, I’m sure with the help of Mark and your lovely family you will get through this and come out the other side so much happier and healthier 🩷
Certainly don’t think less of you Nicky! and understand completely I was there about 10 years ago when my me/Cfs got worse plus my Dad got cancer ..I’ve stopped at home completely and only allow myself one or 2 drinks at Christmas or special occasions which I’ve found ok because I hated the feeling and after effects of drinking ..you’ve recognised it and are being brave and doing the right thing good luck xx
Nikki I think your a very brave and beautiful woman. You are an inspiration sweetie. If you ever need a friend we are all here for you. Well done girl! Your a warrior xxx
Hi think you’re being very brave confronting the alcohol situation before it gets totally out of hand . I don’t drink anymore because my body simply can’t tolerate it after going through the menopause but that’s been a godsend because I think I was on a slippery slope with having a drink when I had pain as like you say it takes the edge off. I would also have a drink after a stressful day at work which ended up being three nights a week. I did have a couple of drinks last Christmas but I didn’t like the way it made me feel after even one glass I felt like I’d had several so I’m just not going to bother now. When I go to my daughters for a bbq she gives me sparkling flavoured water but in a wine glass so it looks nice and has the feel of a drink and I’m quite happy with that. I think being in pain as much as we are it’s very easy to fall into non safe ways of managing it and there should be no judgement at all about that because it’s really hard. Painkiller wise I take codeine and paracetamol four times a day and that works for me . I am aware that it’s addictive though so you have to weigh up the pros and cons. I’m still working two days a week as a HCA in a hospital and this enables me to carry on working so it’s a compromise I’m willing to make. I think I saw that you use rescue remedy and I wonder if that might help in social situations to just take the edge off. I use the spray under my tongue and it’s really good at calming my nerve, just be careful though because it does contain a small amount of alcohol. Those shoes look lovely and I’m glad you shared them because I was after some myself. They had them last year but they sold out and I couldn’t get hold of any, guess where I’m going on Monday 😂😂 good timing as well becasue I nearly paid £45 for a similar pair in M&S today 😳 Have a lovely weekend xx
@@AnitaWalters-h4i Thank you for sharing your story! It does help knowing I am not alone. Good advice with the rescue remedy. Good luck finding the shoes! 😊❤️
Hi Nicky. Brave. The guy at the pub had a great voice. Lovely vlog, and respect to you for opening up. Luckily for me I stopped drinking yrs ago when pain killers started, and they just don’t mix. We all have our vices and ways of coping with life’s stresses. Mine is probably chocolate and endless scrolling. We are all behind you and I’m sure you will succeed . Good luck xx
@@carolhydon7324 Yes he did didn't he! Thank you. Like you say, we have our ways of coping but that needed to stop. I feel very strong about it and in the right mindset. 😊❤️
Huge well done for giving up alcohol. I gave up 20yrs ago when I became ill and when you're on lots of tablets, like we all are, they don't work as well so you may find your flares reduce. The best non alcoholic wine we like is from sainsbury's. There is something called Nozeco, which is Prosecco and its really great. I've just bought a non alcoholic from Kylie Minogue's vinyard so I'll let you know what its like. You'll save a fortune as well. 👏
@@melaniehewitt3899 I tried that one from Sainsburys but found it too sweet. Let me know what the Kylie one is like! I liked dry wines so find it really hard to find an alternative. The 0% pink gin is nice. 😊
*Brave* is what you are Nicola, well done for being honest with yourself, letting family & friends know your concerns helps with accountability & support, yiu have wonderful family & friends around you that want rhe best for you ❤ I've not drank alcohol for 30yrs & I can honestly say I do not miss it at all!! Nails look great and may i say Kai (apologies is mis spelt) looks like you xx

@@julieford6204 Mark asked about that but I think I am ok at the moment. I have quite a strong mindset so can do anything if I am determined enough! Christmas will be hard though! 😊❤️
Hang in there, Nicola. We are all managing this fibro journey the best we can. I find that these days I can’t tolerate alcohol very well. Hopefully you will feel so much better before long and that will make your journey easier xxx
Thank you for sharing about your confession - this is so important. I'm 50 & stopped alcohol & caffeine April 2023, full stop. Re your dad, exactly same situation with me, my dad. Sending solidarity Nicola, I don't do the 0% things either, it's too close to drinking, I just stopped all of it ❤
@@julie_uk_ Thank you. The 0% alcohol drinks just let me have another option which is fine by me. If it helps me stop drinking alcohol then that is good enough for me! 😊❤️
Plus, big yes to therapy! Your own health journey and recent loss are big things to tackle, it's like looking after your future self with small acts of kindness
Hi,I study alot and My sisters have fibro, and I believe I may have it to. I was watching you cook and just a few tips for your health. No plastics as all these plastics when hot get into our foods. Glass is better for everything. Grt rid of butter and use dairy free. Come off milk or any kind of dairy. Eat 90% dark choc with grapes. Stay away from white sugers sweetners etc. Stay off bread eat sourdough. Drink 8 glasses water a day with Teaspoon of celtic organic salt. Best in your water. Don't eat bacon that's the worst you can eat. Pigs eat anything and chicken and cows pumped eith hormones. Get organic meats . Eat sweet potatoes mushrooms and spinach as you can live off that. Put some moringa powder and seaweed into your foods. Fibromyalgia can bee helped so much but the toxins from plastics ,salts and sugers cakes biscuits breads etc don't help. It's sad I know, but I'm having and have been for last 3 yrs to cut out dairy pumped hormones meats etc but mostly medication 💊 from Dr's beware they are killing us,not helping us. Me and my autistic son have studies so much and see why people are so ill. Sorry just fibro needs help not medication and change of feet. The worst thing that will make you suger levels spike and attack and fibro becomes very very painful. I tried one weekend. I eat milk choc diet coke some bread and All things I said,I was in agony love. Then had one weekend doing all right ,WHAT A DIFFERENCE. So I'm keeping to a very strict food drink routine as these supermarkets foods pop etc are killing peoples health. Red wine is best for us.
Thank you Nicola for being so honest with us. I definitely don’t think any worse of you for telling us. I rarely drink because I’d rather use the calories eating cake 🤣 BRAVE x
Hi Nikki, bless you, for sharing what you've been going through. But, like my old Aunty used to say, those that matter don't mind, and those that mind don't matter 💕, and yes you have been brave. You can do this, and you will feel much much better. All the very best on your journey 💖🌸🌺💞
Hi Nicola, Defo dont think any less of you for sharing if anything respect you more as a person. A big decision has been made and it will be difficult especially the social occasions. I made the decision to stop drinking last year it was making me ill and the anxiety was crippling. But it does get easier I promise. I didnt do the 0% thing either but its up to you. Sending love x
@@joycebaillie715 Thank you. Yes, it was hard last night at a friend's bbq, I didn't want to drink but was surrounded by people who were drinking and felt anxious! I will get there. The 0% drinks just let me think I am having something different which is fine by me. 😊❤️
I don't fink less of you. I think even more!!! It's so hard to admit these things, especially to yourself and do something about it. Just my thoughts about non alcoholic drinks. I don't drink alcohol at all due to my health conditions. I tried non alcoholic wine and some gin cocktails. Although it says 0% I don't think it's 100% true, cause they make me a bit dizzy same like alcohol. Maybe it's just me and I am not saying I get drunk, but still a bit dizzy. Just be careful ❤❤❤ all the Love as always.
Hi nic, great vlog as usual, thank you for sharing your journey with alcohol with us, i can imagine how hard that was for you, i have a relative that is an alcoholic and now has dementia caused by alcohol, he says he only drinks alcohol free now but some alcohol free contains alcohol only a small amount but it’s there and to be honest he still sneaks some you can tell as personality changes, it’s a hard road but I believe in you ❤ xxxx
@@nicolajennings7128 Thank you. I am happy with the 0% alcohol drinks as they make me feel like I am having something different. I wouldn't sneak alcohol into them now as my mindset is good. You are right, when alcohol is drunk personality does change! 😊❤️
Love you guys. Just fyi God and detox groups of B vitamins zinc magnesium and Vitamin c help . This means add more! I researched on line so this is some of what info came up. You’ll do great! You have so much support. I need more spoons for my FA. Because I push but people don’t help because they don’t believe I’m in such pain and they are so critical when I can’t always follow thru . I just have to pray and do the best I can. You can do it😎😎😎
@@vivianpennington5330 that is really sad that people are being critical of you when it is not your fault! Have you tried to educate them? Or do they not want to know? I tend to put info on Facebook and instagram on Fibro to educate my family and friends. 😊❤️
