you said it best with the Kissland 2020 version, however I'll take it one further and say it's a mix of Kissland and Starboy, Kissland for the vocals and effect, Starboy in terms of the enhanced production

Some would suggest that the cover represents the point of view of the person hitting Abel and like the person hitting him is holding by his collar area and we just see his face all beaten up and he (Abel) is laughing because he’s felt worse.
