Kira is right. There are good writers--some known and not as known--but no one pays them any mind bc they write actual good scripts with actual plots and meaning. Nowadays, it's the same few writers that are just regurgitating literal shit SLs and making money off of it. You don't even have to pay attention throughout a show bc its all the same theme with slightly different plot-what-plots.
Just a simple question, how can you even try to judge something before even seen it? Anyway, do you know a single country that has only good shows or at least the rate of success of Hollywood shows? He can’t show women without them being abused and the abuse being romanticized. Someone needs to check his computer. I won’t be surprised when a surviving sam Levinson documentary is dropped in 10yrs. But, I feel horribly for lily rose depp and any other woman on that show.

They don’t fantasize about raping and abusing other people. Sam Levison obviously has a kink for women enjoying being controlled and abused. Like Cassie in euphoria letting Nate control what she wears and telling him he can do whatever he wants to her. Or lily depp’s character begging to be r@ped. it’s also weird to make professionals that are under you act out your weird sex fanatasies under the guise of acting, especially if they’re unaware they’re partaking in fantasy play. Rookie or unknown actresses/actors majority of the time don’t have the privilege of saying no to uncomfortable scenes. And if they do, they get black listed. So directors and higher ups take advantage of them and overly sexualize and exploit them.
Even if he has a point about Rolling Stone, I do feel the Weekend needs to humble himself greatly. This interview was not a good look for him. Sometimes grace and dignity triumphs over savagery.

@@edschelchang6123 shows are pre recorded, why do you think we're able to watch trailers? Some productions use footage and scenes from the show/movie for trailers and promotions. These aren't new scenes, they're all unreleased until the show comes out. By your logic, how would rolling stone make a critique on a show that hadn't come out yet? Their article was based off an exclusive, unreleased (until now) scene. These are not new, they didn't call down the cast and crew to make a clap back against rolling stone. They just released an UNreleased scene to respond to them 🤣
Can we also talk about how these new Hollywood shows almost never hire fresh faces. Like there are so many talented actors out there who barely get any gigs because these people stay hiring nepo babies and already well known people at least Euphoria introduced us to quite a few number of unknown talented people like Fez. I also hope they don't exploit the only woman of color there (Jenny) because we know how these shows be. It's also dissapointing to see Abel react so childishly to the Rolling Stone's criticism.

The way sam (probably abel too I don't exactly remember) scrapped and rewrite the whole script from the previous female writer and made it focus on the male perspective because they said the previous script was too focused on the women. (Sorry if some words are not written properly english is not my first language)

She joined on before he joined and had an actual character to play with lines and scenes but once he took over her role was reduced to look pretty with a line or two thrown in. Like the article said, the work was originally satire but ended up being the very thing they were satirizing. Not a blackpink fan but let’s not come for her integrity like that.
Has anyone read the damn intro what this TV series is about? the character played by the Weeknd is a guru, a parody of a Hollywood guru, in addition to this the whole series seems to be clearly a criticism of Hollywood and the hypersexual and unbridled lifestyle, it doesn't take a genius to turn on the brain .
This just proves to me that he is a man child with too big of an ego which tbh I always got that vibe from him. This isn’t how you handle legitimate criticism, especially if you want to encourage people to indeed watch the show.

For the ones confused. The poster didn’t say this was an interview, HE SAID it’s a scene from the show and the weekend reposted a clip of it on IG in response to a recent Rolling Stone Article. The article wasn’t a review of the show but an expose on all the behind the scene drama..which makes Abel’s corny clap back even more lame. Crew members complained about how inappropriate and uncomfortable working on the show left them because it felt like some perverted, twisted sexual fantasy from the Sam Levinson--same guy who has been accused of doing the same crap on Euphoria. The original Showrunner/writer also quit…so there’s a lot of drama like “don’t worry darling” type drama and people close to the situation leaked it to The Rolling Stone. This corny one line about Rolling Stone being irrelevant literally has nothing to do with the premise of the Stone’s article so it just doubles down on how cringe and try hard the weekend is and this show. 😂
this series had several controversies due to the production of Sam Levison, who wanted to emphasize the Sexualization of characters at all times, this problem would have already happened in Euphoria when they asked him to reduce Nudism and scenes of violence
I was so excited for this show it had so much potential but when I watched it, I was just weirded out almost the whole time, the fact they cut Jennie’s lines, they are using her for views at this point and the direction this show took was tragic 😢

The producers actors and actresses were complaining about their treatment and the direction the show was going. I think the Weeknf might just be mad because he’s so happy he’s a part of the show and wants it to do well. My question is where is the limit for Hollywood to depicting so much debauchery. This is why I had to stop watching American stuff because it seems the storytelling has just completely fallen off.
I highly suggest y'all work on your reading and hit up international films and tv series. As long as you can get past the subtitles you'll open a whole new world of incredibly good entertainment.

Lol I haven't seen the show, so I can't say whether or not The Rolling Stone was right (though people have have seen the show seem to agree with what they're saying), but I feel like just saying they're "irrelevant" and bringing how many Instagram followers The Rolling Stone has sounds so juvenile. He could've defended the show without such a weak "clapback".

The Weeknd's a misigynist. Originally, this show had a female director who wrote it and it had a COMPLETELY different narrative. Then, they fired her because Weeknd complained that "the show had too much female perspective". They hired Levinson instead, who turned this into a sick cornographic fantasy.
The stuff people some people are saying is a bit head scratching…I’m shocked no one is picking up on how he is teaching her how to sing and reach high potential artistry, they’re trying to show us how The Weeknd and others are on a high level of talent and stardom, more importantly his singing ability and how to create unorthodox high level writing (they haven’t shown yet), music, sounds, and how you overall carry yourself as a genius-level artist…by bringing other characters in to help them, showing us how they bring the best out of themselves by being their true selves…for example Joss, he’s going to help her reach a beyond and out of this world level of singing level or stardom, to a point where the world will praise her like those powerful idols that the world used to worship before the monotheistic religions we follow today…I believe that’s a goal of the idol…..teaching her how to find her true voice for singing and operate herself in the most difficult ways, how to adjust mentally…to help Jocelyn reach her full potential…but I guess I’m wrong I feel like you can only understand this show if you’re a deep thinker and you really know how to pay attention….you can’t keep looking from the outside too much, i feel like that’s how everybody is looking at it right now…that’s why it’s confusing and it feels like a sexual show….that’s how they expect the people who are not deep thinkers and don’t really have a deep sense of imagination to react…slow and rushing what they fail to not understand instead of try to learn…Understand that you gotta be EXTREMELY patient as well with this….if one knew any better you’d understand that the biggest thing in being creative and an artist is that you can’t rush art….that’s why you guys are judging to early….give it time, and I think this will turn out to be a marvelous and inspiring show to artists of all kinds and ppl who might not understand that world. I’m not ready to give up on it…understand if you want to understand genius levels…just watch this carefully, be open-minded…stop going expecting shit….stop finding out where everything is on a trip, that makes it boring…you can’t enjoy a journey like that….have a sense of adventure….you have to expect the unexpected….let whatever happens happen.

He’s working a show called the Idol which is gonna be on HBO and it’s getting backlash for its story being over sexualized and being “torture p*rn” but this is an HBO show their shows are known for being overly violent and sexual so I’m not surprised I expected the show to be like this especially since there’s a cult involved in this show people are disgusting with the show cause of its contents but I’m not fazed cause I’m used to HBO shows being like this at the end of the day it’s just a show if people don’t like it then don’t watch it people are saying the show is gonna be bad just cause of how it’s been described but I doubt it cause if all the big celebrities on it and it has good writers on it
@YamiJai well it might not be everyone cup of tea, but it actually hasn't been released yet, so know one can judge it yet, and usually they put sexual things in the trailers to draw in the male audience which is fuxking disgusting, but that's always been a thing, even on thumbnails on youtube, but I don't think we should judge until we watch, especially because euphoria was good so the director knows what he's doing, and the weeknd is only an actor in this, so they need to stop dragging him

I think it'll be a good show. So far it seems it'll be about the sketch of the entertainment business. Like it's supposed to show how being famous is bittersweet. It's also supposed to show how it exploits young women in the industry. Jennie from Blackpink talked a small amount about it. She said she's excited for it to air but that she's scared people won't get the message. She said she feels it's easy to understand for her and some of the cast since they are in the industry and have had their own experiences. However she said that it might go over heads, but regardless she's excited to see how it all plays out.
