This is my favorite project, the best 😌 Edit: I mainly liked this project because it's like having your head underwater. It's rain clouds chasing you. A foggy gray (or brown) moody day.

Fun fact: the first song he recorded after this EP was actually heartless which ties to privileged but also was the lead single for Afyter Hours saying he’ll be back to his old ways, which the first line was “never need a b*tch I’m what a bitch need”

Favorite project from him. Came out a week after my 5 year relationship failed and as I took an extended drive to enjoy it in full I almost crashed with how overwhelmed I was. It was an insane first listening experience but I’ll never forgot it.

His coachella performance for Call out my name & Privilege will literally give you goosebumps and he poured out his soul live 🤍❤️

If this was 6 tracks longer, it would be in the conversation to be one of his greatest projects. Each song brings something different and sonically so pleasing. Top 3 project for me at the least 😍

The Weeknd originally was going to release an album in 2017, that he described at not melancholy at all, but beautiful. After the break up he scraped the entire finished album because he did not want to perform songs that were contrary to how he really felt. There is a leaked song called “Let me go” from that album and it is amazing, I recommend checking it out at some point.

Wasted Times is produced by Skrillex, basically he's the production G.O.A.T., and Gessaffelstein produced I was never there and Hurt You. Abel's projects have the best producers on-board, always 👑

I can understand why he scrapped a full upbeat album to make this and drop it

You should revisit After Hours + the Deluxe tracks and break down the lyrics like you did with the rest of his catalogue! 🔥🙌🏽

You don’t have to make another video if you don’t want to but I highly recommend checking out after hours again after going thru this full journey of his discography The heavy heartbreak of mdm, the experimental grandeur of kiss land, the woes of fame and wealth from bbtm, the retro 80s production of starboy, and the dark, toxic, taboo themes of the trilogy mixtapes all put together in one album...he really outdid himself

My dear melancholy got me into the weeknd. I remember my friend showing it to me in 2018. Then I explored his older music and became an xo. This EP really was a turning point in my life and it will forever hold a special place in my heart. ❤️ Abel really is a genius.

Melancholy means a feeling of extreme sadness and hopelessness.

This is my favourite project from him, without any doubt. So deep, sad, pure and so real. I feel these songs and the whole ep mine, since I first listened to them during a dark period of my life, a few months after the album was released, and instantly became the perfect “frame” for my life during those times.

Ah yes, time for the sadness to hit again.

You should listen to Hive Mind by The Internet! It’s a band led by Syd and Matt Martians, they were in Odd Future with Tyler, The Creator. Steve Lacy is in the group too, he has really good solo music as well. He makes his music on GarageBand on his iPhone. 🤯

Call out my name backstory: The song was about Selina Gomez after they broke up because she was just using him for fame but the weekend thought she was his soulmate. And The Weeknd was even gonna give her a kidney after her lupus surgery but she said no and told him the truth about her using him the whole time but the weekend wanted to be with her so bad and after he made call out her name she just went ahead and ignored him, and made a song about Justin Bieber 😭

Loved this album because at the time when It came out, I had just recently ended a 3 year long on and off again relationship. Knowing the back story to this album and some of the songs, man this thing hit different on some late night drives.
