The Weeknd - Party Monster Music Video EXPLAINED

THE PACE OF THE VIDEO IS SO QUICK SO I THOUGHT LETS WATCH IT IN SLOWMOTION AND GUESS WHAT? I FOUND SOME REALLY INTERESTING THINGS; ALSO YOU SHOULD WATCH IT TO @The Pop Song Professor ! SO HERE IS WHAT I FOUND OUT: [ This is what is happening in the video in the important scenes if you watch it in Slowmotion ] 0:02 - 0:05 This woman tears apart this red sheath or what ever it is. Which maybe symbolizes her as a Demon coming to earth from hell. Meanwhile The Weeknd cruising in his car, which on the other hand symbolizes him living his fast Lifestyle but still being good & faithful to God ( Which symbolizes the cross ). 0:37 - 0:39 In this scene we see Abel starring towards this neon cross that is further away from him, which is maybe a metaphor for his attraction towards God or the desire to be good. And the reason why it is further away is because is shows us that it is a path towards good/the christan self of him/good side towards him. 0:41 - 0:42 The woman/demon from earlier who came from hell is appearing a little bit further from the cross and also slightly to the right with a torch in her hand ( maybe the torch is something the Abel desires, not sure what it means tho ). And the reason why the position is so important is because from Abel's view point it looks like two paths. The path towards the neon cross shows the way to God/the goodself of him/faithful and the other one is the path towards the women which symbolizes evil/sin/temptation.( behind the women which represents the gateway to hell, i will come back to it in a min. ). 0:43 - 0:48 Now more women are coming out of the pool. which metaphorically means that more demons are coming on to earth or into Abels world from hell. 1:02 - 1:06 here we see Abel in a cross until for a quick second the cros flips upside down, and the up side down cross is a symbol for the anti christ/devil and maybe that means that he is now transforming in to a demon ? 1:11 - 1:13 here we see Demons/Womens showing him his desires or more want they can give him if he follows them/takes the evil path. 1:13 - 1:15 now Abel is completly seduced by the woman/by the dark path , he even turned away from the cross, which is just showing us that he can't resist his desires.The Woman goes into a flashy buliding 1:16 - 1:17 again, the cross flips 1:18 - 1:20 Abel now follows here into this mysterious flashy house 1:21 - 1:27 Abel follows this women/demon towards a hallway into a light 1:30 - 1:34 Now Abel entered a room with neon flames on the wall and women standing next to them like statues, I think, now Abel entered hell and for a moment he looks concerned but then he starts to like it 1:34 - 1:38 We see i the women from the beginningof the video,I think she seems to be the root of evil/the boss. And in this sequence she is mixing a drink that turns Abel finally into a demon, which he also drank ( but it was not shown tho ).because a short period after Abels eyes are glowing red. He now is a Demon from here on let me sum it up what happens ( igot tired to be honest ) So after he became a demon/sinner/evil he partying like crazy in hell. He truly is a partyMONSTER now. But a part from him really enjoys it a embraces it, but the other part of him know that this is not what he likes, that is not his true self. So now we see this inner conflict between his good side and his bad side. Fast forward. The "good" Abel is in his bed and with the cross behind him as a reminder of what he truly is. He wants to escape but it seems like this demon/woman in the beinning is holding him back or he is now not able to escape as long as he is a demon. And that is where the Panther comes in play, because the panther is his savior, who wants to take his hand an get him out of there.But the Panther/Woman ( the good woman not the evil one ) can't reach Abel. So now we see Abel trying to escape in his car from hell and the evil woman ( acually i think the beginning of the video is acually a part of the end ), but the demon in her lambo is not letting him go, until Abel drives the yellow lambo with the woman off the cliff with an maneuver. And now he is free THE EnD

When the woman's eyes changed colors it changed to a scene where cars were chasing The Weeknd. So I thought the cars represented all the women that chase after him.

I definitely agree that the recurring appearance of the cross represents the conflict that The Weeknd finds himself in, between what he perceives to be good and evil. I have a feeling (pure conjecture) that his mom is very religious and raised him in such an environment, so now, as he found fame, wealth, and the hedonistic lifestyle available to him, I think more so than the average person, The Weeknd is caught in this constant struggle...

I've interpreted a lot of the video relating to looking for someone who also understands chronic substance abuse and the paranoia being linked to the same drug use. It's a very common symptom of long term drug use to have paranoia

Maybe the panther represents this ideal woman he's trying to find. It was present in Starboy video when it transformed from cat to panther on the passenger's seat, which could symbolize that he should have a woman who also passed through some kind of transformation (just like he did) and would be prepared to be with him. In Party Monster, when he was facing all that hell looking for sex, the panther showed up and threw him off balance (as if he was confronted by this ideal woman). Or not. P.S.: still wainting for Radiohead. 😝

The yellow Lamborghini isn't the car The Weeknd drives it's the one the "femme fatal" drives. The weekend drives a Mazda I think and at some point in the video you can see them driving fast together although the footage is chopped up

I think your theory is great! I also have a few theories about the panther. 1.The panther could be something that is trying to save him from the hell that he is in with all of his sins. 2. It could symbolize the women maybe clawing at him (because of the human lips) and maybe he feels that they are being very vicous and not letting him go from this hell that he gets trapped in after he meets the woman. 3. Possibly the devil. When he sees the panther, his eyes are wide open, and it might mean that he is extremely tempted toward this demon and having the panther as the symbol of the devil might mean that he knows that the devil is dangerous but, (because of the lips) he is lured by all the temptation always around him. These are just theories but I hope maybe it opened up a bit more doors on to what the meaning of the panther was :)

I think the panther in mania,party monster, I feel it coming etc represents his growth and success. Like when he's at the starboy house he has a black cat. When he gets in the car, he stars driving and suddenly the cat transforms into a panther. so idk

I think that the car represents how the Weeknd lives the fast life. And he thanks the Lord for the day because he woke up, despite being next to a girl he doesn't know. The whole video might be about him trying to ease off the drugs cuz it could potentially kill him (car flying off the mountain) and increasingly making him paranoid. At 2:44 you can hear him snorting something, so the whole video could be a a bad trip, which would also cause someone to be paranoid.

I wanted to actually present a theory I have. Could Party Monster not be a continuation of In The Night. Just a bit more trippy. In 'In The Night' (which stars Bella Hadid) . He's in a night club full of dangerous women, Hadid being one of these women. At the end of the MV he rides off with her on that bike. Now In PM he drives back in the car, indicating some sort of return (perhaps their breakup had some influence on him). Which would also explain all the imagery, its like he's relapsed back into it. And now he's interacting with all these women, compared to how in ITN, he just sat back and watched them do all what they did.Just a theory. Remember that Starboy is a persona made by Abel, sometimes to communicate things he's afraid to. And this might be one of those cases.

The eyeball is a dilated pupil. If you listen to the song and where the eyeball shows up, it's pretty easy to come to the conclusion that it's a cocaine reference.

Great video as always, but, when Weeknd follows that girl upstairs she goes to a bedroom and you can see a guy that reminded me from that character from his BBTM videos. Also by the end of the video he was on a race with that girl, she was driving the yellow Lamborghini

their was two to three scenes in the video I noticed you didn't catch like when he starts sinkin in the bed and he reaches out for help and as he is falling he sees the cross with a women face in it (the same girl he walked up the stairs with) and she also reaches her arm out like she is trying to save him than she fades away and all you see is the cross. Also their was a scene when he was racing another car almost like he was being chased

So I think this movie takes place after false alarm and is sort of his life/lives flashing before his eyes moment. Hence the weird style of the video. "Woke up by a girl and dont even know her name" could be the girl from the van. By the end of the video you can see he is visibly disappointed at least has a look of, what have I been doing, the bed he lays on starts deflating and is symbolic of the life he has lived.

I think the panter is ment to be all of his fears and bad habits.All of this is pushing him to the limits and as he falls in the bed,he goes back to where the video started.It kinda like cykle he wants to break,but just can't.He's trying do something about it.
