One thing I never noticed until recently is that the Headmistresses head is twisted backwards (look at her shoes) because her neck was snapped. Brutal.
Excpet her hands are the wrong way for only her head to be twisted. The only way for the shot to make sense is that tge angel twisted her whole torso, which is like, why would it? They could have made the shot good, but they fucked it up
It's really weird that the Angel killed her that way, it seemed based on Series 5 of DW that the Weeping Angels were only taking lives like that directly rather than sending the victim back in time because they were weak. I've just finished watching it but I'm still wondering...
@@Jfigs94 Yes, I think Doctor Who has a lot of potential but even in the golden era, it wasn't perfect. Now it's mainly a cash-cow and yes it should've ended or at least rebooted to be better. But I don't see that happening ( at least not in a good way ).
Can we agree that this is the creepiest the weeping angles have been since Blink? I can’t be the only one that think that this story should be considered as part of the doctor who series it needs to be continued!
“Time of the angels” and “flesh and stone”? No? Just me who still has nightmares from that story? It did a great job of adding a ton more lore to the angels (can’t look them in the eye; can’t record/photograph them) and a blind amy navigating them an a crack in the universe was insane. Since then they’ve fallen into every DW monster/villains problem of being too recurring to be threatening. An instance where the Doctor isn’t around, but some of his most dangerous foes ever are is the perfect chance for them to be terrifying again. Too bad that didn’t get a chance
@@vullord666 Besides having added a lot of lore, it also contradicted a lot of established lore. For example, it is established in Blink that the angels have a different appearance when they are not being observed. This is contradicted when we see them move in Time of Angels/Flesh and Stone. So…
Putting that into consideration the way i see it is the writers wanted to make it their own vision without piggy backing , like the reason we already liked torchwood was jack and the Sarah jane adventures was cuz of sara class was suppose to have it's own feet
I disagree. I think Patrick was quite right to build up his own characters, their backstories and his own monsters. Especially because it all lays down the theme of belief that seemed to be at centre of things (Charlie's beliefs about Rhodia and the war vs. Quill's, Charlie's beliefs about thoughts vs. actions and the guilt he felt, Ram's belief that April could never love him like he does her, Tanya's belief overpowering her logic and intelligence when it came to how she was perceived by the others, April's belief in the optimistic clashing against Quill's more realist beliefs about life... and Matteusz's belief that he will always love Charlie no matter what coming up against his belief in pacifism right until that final moment.) even within the monsters... (The Shadow Kin destroy because of their beliefs that they were a mistake and must fight the universe to survive, the Lankin leveraging people's beliefs in an afterlife to its own advantage, the Prisoner in the asteroid relying on what the gang perceive as truth - in actual fact, beliefs) and finally, takes the bold step of introducing technology powered by belief. There's a lot of legwork there, and it gets you to this. The Governors have some form of belief in this Arrival and the Angels. The series is really an Act One in my mind that builds your knowledge of Patrick's own characters and of the nature of belief - before it gets to the point where it would hit you with familiar foes and their beliefs. (And this is just the stuff that made it - I mean, there's deleted scenes on the DVD for Detained that make it clear that April *believed* she was doing good by healing her mother's legs a la Biblical miracle, but she'd infact been wrong to do that to her mother without consent or understanding of whether or not her mother believed it should be done. There's a whole philosophical conversation in that...)
@@allamedits I really hope so. This was actually a pretty cool show but, being in the US, I was only able to see the first couple of episodes- since they were cross-overs with DW. I would have enjoyed watching this!
Seriously,is nobody going to talk about how the chairperson who sentenced Pooky Quensel to death is none other than the shopkeeper from The Sarah Jane Adventures? You know, the one with the parrot, called The Captain who gave her Sky?
Unlikely that it meant anything. Ram's dad is played by someone who was in a previous episode of Who. Fady who plays Ram was almost in Bells of St. John until reshoots clashed with something else he was working on. And near enough every story of Who has someone who's been in another one at some point.
Shame this show never got a second series, the Weeping Angels, despite their infamy, have never really been major players, and anything they've done has been fairly limited in scope. It would have been interesting to see them work as larger scale villains, working towards to some grand scheme that extends far past their next meal.
Yeah, that seems to be their agenda is to get temporal energy to survive and we've only seen groups of them that act independent of each other. They should be written to operate on a larger scale working towards some grand scheme like you said. I've always envisioned them being a great enemy that the Timelords fought and defeated in an earlier Time War and that the sealed off the Home system of the Weeping Angels from the rest of the universe which left those of them outside their Home system isolated and fragmented hence why the ones the Doctor has encountered have operated in a limited way. However, there could've been a faction of Weeping Angels that wants to either turn Earth into a new home world for their kind or use the Earth and Humanity to break the seal to free their trapped brethren so they can take over time and space.
What a cliffhanger that was!!! And, unfortunately, bye-bye Class. No Series 2 and so we get no visit to the home planet of the Weeping Angels, no resolution of The Arrival prophecy, no resolution of Miss Quill's pregnancy, and no resolution of April's body transfer.
@@DarkDesignDramas I hope so. The stories they've produced so far have only been set during the show and not after it. Maybe in time they will create their Series 2 follow-up audio line in the same way they created Series 5 and 6 of Torchwood? Time will tell. It always does.
@@Alan1701b Yeah. Took them nearly five years to do it. I think its cos the BBC are in limbo with the whole idea of a S2. Otherwise Big Finish would of made S2 by now. I don't think it will happen but just like the 1989 cancelation of WHO they won't give a direct answer whether or not it will come about 😪😪😪
@@andrewcruzsmith2343 Wow. Big question. A lot happened in both S5 and S6 of Torchwood. Like S3 being called "Children of Earth" and S4 called "Miracle Day" before them, S5 was called "Aliens Among Us" and S6 was called "God Among Us". Both series are 12 episodes long and are split across 6 boxsets. Torchwood is rebuilt and back in Cardiff and the rift is open again. Jack is there as is Gwen and Rhys and Andy and several new team additions and the return of someone that previously featured in 2 episodes of Doctor Who. Full of the usual sex and violence and surprises and aliens that you'd expect from Torchwood! Big Finish productions do this show great justice with these audios! Totally recommend giving them a listen!
They brought back The Shopkeeper from SJA to continue his plot here, and then this show got cancelled. I never liked the show but I just hope we can get the damn Shopkeeper's story done!
It’s weird, every single Doctor Who television spinoff has gotten cancelled. K9 and co, Sarah Jane (for obvious reasons), Torchwood, and Class. While K9 and Torchwood were somewhat followed up by the Sarah Jane Smith and Torchwood series by Big Finish, Sarah Jane and Class haven’t gotten anything. I truly don’t understand why novels or audiobooks haven’t been released to follow up on Sarah Jane Adventures.
@@ryanspees2857 - there may be some confusion with the licence?? I don't know what happens to contracts when the lead character passes away. There may be some legal issues.
@@ryanspees2857 hey man have I got some good news for you ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0uUH7VOMzfI.html Sadly. it takes place within the events of Season 1 and doesn't continue the arrival plot
I think Class should be given a second chance. Every spin off of Doctor Who has started off shaky but after a while, it comes into its own and can become iconic. Torchwood season 1 was ok but we were surprised for more seasons and thank God we got them, Children of Earth and Miracle Day being my favourite syfi horror stories of all time. Similarly, the Sarah Jane Adventures had a rocky start. It's fair to say that the Slitheen weren't the most beloved Doctor Who monsters of all time (though I personally loved them) and so for Sarah Jane's first season to have them at the start and finish was a big risk but over time, the Sarah Jane Adventures became my favourite show as a kid. It managed to take mediocre monsters like the Slitheen and give them more episodes than on Doctor Who so that they actually seemed threatening when they were on screen. Not only that, but even though Sarah Jane Adventures was a kids show, it's surprising how it still manages to deal with big issues. My point? If every spin off of Doctor Who was canceled because the first season didn't get the applause it was hoping for, iconic syfi stories wouldn't have been written. Class should be given a second chance because if we give it the opportunity, it could become as iconic as Torchwood or the Sarah Jane Adventures. Give it the weeping angels and this show has some serious potential. Get on it BBC, stick with it! Oh, and less teen angst and more syfi.
@@william...1 ehh, it's not really sexist, I don't agree with him, but if he wants to take what he said and construct a reasonable argument around it, then he's not really a sexist now is he?
@@MrSamboy234 You say retconned the Doctor's origin as if War Games itself didn't contradict the instances in which the First Doctor said he was human (Savages and Sensorites) and the Second Doctor questioning why the Daleks couldn't use him to extract the Human Factor. (Evil of the Daleks). As for age... You're kidding, right? Three says he's thousands of years old (Silurians and Mind of Evil) where Two said he was about 450 (Tomb of the Cybermen), and then Four was about 750 (Pyramids of Mars and Brain of Morbius). Six being 900 (Revelation of the Daleks and Trial of a Timelord) and Seven explicitly saying he was 953 (Time and the Rani), only for Nine and Ten to say they were 900 and 903. [Which raises a real question itself; because that means Ten lived for three years after Nine regenerated all the way up to Voyage and by End of Time, it's 906 - which must be the shortest life of an incarnation ever by miles!] Eleven went from being 1200 (A Town Called Mercy) to being about 1000 (Bells of Saint John) and then Twelve in Deep Breath says 2000 [making Eleven one of the longest lived incarnations!]
I hope that this sorry line is carried on in the newest series of doctor who as there have been angels seen. I just miss Miss Quill and wanna see how she interacts with a female doctor
Maybe Big Finish could resolve this in their new Doctor Who Stranded series with Paul McGann it is to be set in 2020 so maybe the arrival will make a appearance in it
@Doctor Who: Revolution well newsflash sometimes you can't always get what you want and big finish is better than nothing so stop being an ungrateful little b*tch.
hold on. why didn't the angel send her back in time? after the time of the angels and flesh and stone that whole thing kind of faded away and the angels became SCP-173
The angles can send someone back in time and feast on the time energy. But since these angles dont seem fully powered, they can just simply kill by snapping necks
It was never fully explained why The Angel was only snapping necks back in Time of The Angels either I don’t believe. Watched the episodes last night and my interest in Angels has been peaked once more. But I believe it’s because they’re not fully powered up. The Angels in the catacombs nor the dormant Angel in the Byzantium were strong enough to send the people back in time, so they resorted to snapping necks. Or, in the case of the Arrival, the Angels snap necks to teach a lesson or so that no one can tell the story, if they sent the woman back in time, there might’ve been the chance that she would call an uprising against the Arrival. Just some theories.
@@Jirinian I believe the Doctor did mention or explain it at some point. The Angels sent people back in time to use them as an energy source. But at the crash of the Byzantium, the reactors were leaking lots and lots of energy. That was why the imprisoned angel crashed the ship, as a rescue mission for the army of angels. Since all of those angels had all the energy they needed from the Byzantium, they didn’t need to displace people in time, so they just killed them instead.
@@CletusWithSkinnyPenis it’s in LEGO Dimensions, the video game. It’s not canon to regular Doctor Who, DC Comics, the LEGO Movie, or Lord of the Rings.
I do. I like how Lego Dimensions referenced Blink by having the angels be tricked into looking at each other. I was genuinely scared when they appeared in Lego Dimensions because I hadn’t yet watched Blink, so all I officially knew was that they move when you’re not looking at them (but before watching Blink or reaching that level of Lego Dimensions (which to be honest, is probably my favourite) I did actually consider that Weeping Angels had eye contact). And that cutscene you get if you get caught by a Weeping Angel and don’t manage to escape the lock in time just terrified me.
Things we would’ve gotten if Series 2 happened and they sound epic: New writers would’ve been brought in the assist showrunner, Patrick Ness. Weeping Angel Civil War and home planet. April strikes a deal with the governors to get her body back. Quill’s newborn son would’ve been very dangerous. Charlie meets a future version of himself who lost his soul to save Matteusz. The theme of series 2 would be as Ness said, “deals with the devil”. In an episode called ‘Time Capsule’, the Coal Hill defenders would’ve been sent back in time to the 1990s by a Weeping Angel and the only way back is to find something beneath the school they knew would be dug up 30 years later. Writer, Vivian Hooper would write an episode about Tanya in a Ferris Buller style talking about her being pan or bisexual. Another episode would be the focus of internet fame and the backlash the would follow it.
dunno how a planet would work but an origin for the weeping angels would have been really interesting to explore. I hope they atleast let Big Finish make stories set after series 1
I wonder what it looks like? I picture it being a beautiful planet filled with temporal energy and a place where the Weeping Angels who live there can look at each other without turning to stone and live peacefully due to the temporal energies on their home planet. However, the ones on their home world are sealed off from the rest of the universe by a temporal lock placed by the Time Lords ages ago as punishment for trying to conquer the universe and mess around with time itself. Not all the Weeping Angels were accounted for by the final Time War so the remaining free Weeping Angels though scattered are still a menace to the universe but suffer from the limitations in canon. That's my idea for the Weeping Angels' homeworld anyway.
Maybe if this gets enough likes BBC will see how popular it is and bring back class Spread the hashtag bring back class and class series 2 everywhere #bringbackclass #classseries2
When the Governors turned their backs to the Headmistress, it looked like they were doing what Klingons from Star Trek do when they formally banish one of their own from their presence and in a way, that is exactly what the Governors were doing with lethal results for the Headmistress.
The Mural at the end has a piece missing, because the image of an Angel becomes an Angel. Filling in that missing piece to bring The Arrival would've been Series 2's storyarc.
Honestly this is just sad, AN ORGANISATION WHICH HAS WEEPING ANGELS WORKING WITH THEM, SINCE WE'RE NOT GOING TO GET IT I'LL HAVE TO USE CHAT GPT TO MAKE A STORY MYSELF. Oh yeah and the guy who runs the group, is from an episode of the sarah jane adventures too
weeping angels are sentient beings, they can choose what they want to do and in this case, killing the person was what needed to be done. Not sending her back in time so she can thwart their plans and get revenge or something
They've snapped people's necks before in The Time of Angels. Also sending her back in time could cause issues if she attempted to stop this plan of theirs out of spite
They only send people back in time to feed on their temporal energy. When they seek to kill someone for any number of reasons such as failure which this woman here did, they'll just kill them outright.
now i know why she died like that her neck has been broken by the weeping angel just like scp 173 btw i think doctor who and class are the cross overs the doctor should saved her tho
I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY ABOUT THE TITLED SHOW SERIES OF (CLASS) First off, I genuinely enjoyed watching it, and if I was a Show-Critic I would of given it four stars; Now I was most disappointed when it had come to a complete end, and not only that it had ended with a cliffhanger ending to it. That sort of thing pisses me off when any type of show series finale last episode ends with a cliffhanger ending to it; Now the reason why it pisses me off so much is because the way it ends, and so the way the cliffhanger ending is designed is that it is teasing you the audience that another season is in the works of getting made, and yet you later discover that is a total lie another season to the show never does get made. So I strongly feel that hopefully that the show series of (CLASS) might get rebooted someday, or maybe some of the characters might make a few appearances in a spinoff show series in the near future.
Ngl I didn't even know that this was a Doctor Who spin off until AFTER it had already been cancelled 🙃😔 this show was not promoted properly at all here in the UK 🤣😅
@@conzchannel5087 They were interested enough to have it on their streaming catalogue with Who last year and early this year, where they didn't bother to have Torchwood or SJA.
Class rocked! Real Weeping Angels should replace all statues currently under attack by vandals. That'd permanently stop some, or many, and let us enjoy our videos in peace.
Who’s come here after finishing Secret Diary of a Rhodian Prince? I won’t spoil anything but the final few chapters of it are deliver something big and could spell a bright future for Class on Big Finish especially if it means getting Patrick Ness’s vision of his would’ve been Series 2 made.
Shame they cancelled this show. With an ending like this! So happy chibnall is bringing back these monsters and it’s been so long since the angels were on screen it feels
Really wish Class got better ratings cause this series it’s many loose ends aside is really good. Surly the BBC could’ve aired the show on an earlier time stamp so that more people can see it as well as give it better marketing.
I thought Class on the whole was pretty meh. Regardless, I still crave a second season to see what they would do with the Weeping Angels and how that would be handled.
This is the first time I've heard of this series. It's a shame the BBC is so determined to lock Dr who and similar series to the UK. Might've actually gotten enough traction if they didn't.
It's probably because of the extreme differences in audiences of both groups. Doctor Who had appealed to the US audience starting with the last 2 seasons. To turn back into what made it great is to backtrack to UK's own culture, not mix both at the same time. The whole, make a woman a timelord, idea wasn't something the UK audience really wanted. If they did, it would have been done a whole lot sooner than this. If it just catered to the UK audience like how it felt more like during the first season, then we would see dramatic improvement in regards to story quality.
they can do whatever they want. if they choose to kill someone, they do. if they choose to send them back and feast on the energy, they do that. Angels have killed people before. and in this case, they were killing the woman. sending her back in time could cause issues, as she would still be alive and maybe even plot revenge. With the exception of that episode where the Angels took over Manhattan and had a legit hotel set up to keep tabs on their victims, Angel "victims" who get sent back in time are alive and can live out the rest of their life...albeit in a different time period.
i mean techniqly this is wrong since they never exactly killed you directly, just put you into the past to live out your life that way either that or doctor who has drastically changed XD
Nah in the s5 two parted “Time of Angels” & “Flesh and Stone” they would snap people’s neck, mainly either for fun or because sending them back in time on that planet would be pointless anyway.
It's probably a bad idea to send a former lackey with knowledge of whatever plans they had back in time. She could have potentially caused them all sorts of trouble. Best just to kill her on the spot.
Which is rather telling; if they were working WITH a human organisation, then nothing they're doing fits their usual modus operandi. Which suggests something bigger at play.
maybe they didnt have anough power the arrival could suggest that they were waiting for something or someone and the box of souls was a power source cause it was time energy
