Join Boney, Dottie and Socko as they try to save a couple of latke aliens, who are almost metaphores of the Jewish people, from Shining Time Station's Schemer. It's an obnoxious Chanukah miracle! Happy Hanukkah!

Fun fact: Kevin Nash tore his quad filming that cameo

Something about this makes me really appreciate how Rugrats wasn't willing to have a Chanukah special until after their Passover special.

I don't remember Weinerville being this obnoxious, but it has been awhile since I've seen it. Anyway, the fact that there's not a lot of Chanukah specials and the only known Chanukah movie and the most popular Chanukah song is by Adam Sandler. I do think that there should more Chanukah movies and specials.

I used to really like Weinerville as a kid. Not sure what I would think nowadays though.

the lack of chanukah specials really is a shame. Neat looking back on this version, but I can't say I'll ever watch it on my own XD Thanks for posting!

I’m Jewish, so when I saw the ads for this I could not have been more excited, and when I saw it I could not have been more confused, but I saw the analogy.

Even as a kid in the 90's, Weinerville was just too bizarre for me.

Oh wow...I used to watch Weinerville as a kid but it was never my favorite, and now I can see why. That said, it deserves credit for having a Hanukkah special and as an adult I'd probably appreciate the cartoons a lot more.

Growing up in Canada, I never got a lot of other Nickelodeon shows outside of all the major NickToons and the odd game show/live action thing. Didn't get Weinerville, and going by its execution, it seemed like I didn't miss much.

Weinerville is so 90s, its awesome..... though i might need to see the series as an adult than a toddler. Though them doing a Hanukah special is.... well kinda sweet.

I remember when the phrase "Merry Christmas" was used as an expression of sincere goodwill, not as a backhanded way of saying "fuck you." I must be old. Also, the war on Christmas is fake, but the wars on Thanksgiving and Halloween are very real.

One of my Jewish friends told me once that Chanukah is less important than every Saturday, which might also explain the dearth of Chanukah specials.

I saw a Visual Kei Japanese music video in 2005 that reminded me Weinerville existed & was not just a childhood fever dream. For the life of me, I cannot remember what band it was.

*slow clap* well done. You are, as always, a generous but incisive reviewer. The backdrop of context you provide certainly helps.

These days, Hanukkah movies and supporting characters who celebrate Hanukkah are standard in holiday T.V. movies. The best ones are Love Lights Hanukkah, Hanukkah on Rye, & Eight Gifts of Hanukkah. I'm a Pagan and even we sort of have some representation. The Netflix miniseries Dash & Lily has a Shogatsu celebration, and also a Hanukkah celebration. Hallmark has a movie called Holly & Ivy, that's centered around the Law of Attraction. The horror movies Krampus and A Christmas Horror Story have Krampus. And of course holiday elves and gnomes are Pagan. The Hallmark movie Joyeux Noel has Christmas gnomes, for instance.

I recall Pee-Wee's Playhouse having a Xmas special that mentioned Hanukkah via one of it's cast members who stopped by to tell Pee-Wee she couldn't make it to his Christmas party and gave him a Dreidel as her gift (this was 1988 for reference).

"... there's no war on Christmas..." That's not true. There's a constantly waging war! And Christmas is the aggressor!

I remember way, way back when this first came out. Or rather, I remember the commercials for it. I did actually see the special...once. And it was the tail-end of it where they were singing about the menorah. That's hilarious though that Brian O'Connor was in the special. I was a HUGE Shining Time Station fan as a kid, and I probably would have recognized him.

Out of curiosity when you talk about Weinerville will you talk about any of the cartoons it used to play? I noticed that you're talking about everything that Nickelodeon aired whether it was a channel exclusive or not so I was curious if you have any plans for talking about my favorite cartoon series Weinerville aired, Batfink. I admittedly liked the overall show as a kid and even find this special still entertaining, but my favorite part was always when they played a Batfink short towards the end. It broke my heart when they swapped it out for Courageous Cat and Minute Mouse.

Whenever someone brings up "the war on christmas" I have to point out that it was a Pagan holiday that was appropriated by Christians & is celebrated by more non-practicing christians & non-christians globally. They forced Christ into it & we took it back out.

Jesus man. I hope never to hear Donald Freaking Trump's voice on this channel again. Definitely would love to see the Rugrats special next year! Would also love to see a thing on the Rugrats Passover special. If there are very few Chanukah specials then there are certainly fewer Passover specials!

The problem with the whole "people who don't celebrate Christmas" argument is that the majority of people DO, in fact celebrate Christmas in the US, as is true with Canada, Latin America, Australia, and Europe, and thus the politicized corporate push toward "happy holidays" has become problematic. I don't hold it against someone if they choose to say "happy holidays", but if they're telling someone else they have to say it to appease the minority-within-a-minority who actually feel offended, excluded, etc, about not being told "happy holidays", and that has ramifications such as people being reprimanded in the place of work, then we are, in fact, facing a "war on Christmas". Let people celebrate what they want, let people say what they want. It goes both ways.

You realize that even if you celebrate Christmas, there are multiple holidays during this time of year? New Years, Thanksgiving? This is a ridiculous argument.

Liberals don't exactly control their tempers themselves. Both sides need to grow up or shut up. That being said, whatever you celebrate, have a happy holiday, be safe and I hope you share it with someone you care about. Cheers.
