Bravo ! Amazing cut , imagines stand by ...ohers effected collected for Fulci and his among three of his best movies , fascinating analyse based on thresholds , open cicle of time and space perfected built by Fulci and his extreme methapors and sense of methapysical weird . More and more the baroc paintings and unique aestetique of Fulci shows a vaste encyclopedia of a world watched in a so different deep way . Perfect the intimacy connection to a David Lynch universe explained by this powerfull video . Thank you as italian to this deep tribute to our loved master Fulci .
The house by the cemetery is probably my favourite. I found Lucio Fulci's films around the time of his death. Grew to love them on every aspect. I was a teenager and sure I loved the gore but was equally enthralled by the wierd and frightening mood they evoked. Today I have exchanged my old vhs copies with blu rays. And I now own all the glorious soundtracks on cd. can really recommend the book "Beyond Terror" by Steven Thrower. I end this thread by quoting the Godfather himself; "Violence is Italian art".
Great video man! Concise and informative exploration of the themes and concepts in The Gates of Hell trilogy. Some of these ideas I had picked up on before, and some had never occurred to my mind before. Excellent work! Keep it up!
I recommend Stephen Thrower's book,Beyond Terror ,the films of Lucio Fulci.A very comprehensive book that covers all of fulci' s films, not just his horror films. There are giallos, westerns, crime thrillers, and of course horror all covered in depth.Fulci, for me is much underrated and doesn't receive the adulation of other Italian directors like bava and argento. The gates of hell trilogy are all brilliant, with house by the cemetery possibly the weakest of the three, badly let down by the excruciatingly bad dubbing of bob.The others have wonderful visuals and atmosphere.Don't get me wrong fulci made some stinkers especially in the latter part of his career, but i can forgive these because he also made some absolute gems too,R.I.P,Lucio.
17:00 (ish) - yeah, given the overlapping of realities or universes or whatever we wanna call them already inherent in the movies (certainly in COTLD and The Beyond), I definitely think his use of the same actress in the three films was very deliberate and that each in turn is it's own world/reality/whatever each one showing distinctly different, but also related, fates of the character, depending which universe or plane or reality we are observing the character IN
