We got our hands on the 2023 Super Duty! First looking at the outside appearance. The hood, grille, and bumper are all different for 2023. Taking a look at the wheels and tires, this Super Duty has the sport appearance package. One of the biggest updates for the 2023 Super Duty is the massive badging on the truck. There are also new steps added to the 2023 model that are causing a lot of drama. Although there is a lot of use to them, you can't really get rid of them. Another update is the tailgate, and with the tailgate comes updated steps that are built into the bumper. For this specific truck, being a Super Cab, there is a new feature that Ford added that is worth mentioning. The back doors now open nearly 180 degrees for more functionality. For leg room, if you are needing the extra room in the front and the back, we suggest that you opt for the Super Crew over the Super Cab. The biggest improvement has to be the interior. Upgrades include a cell phone holder, vertical option wireless phone charger, double cup holders, dead battery wave transmitter, and LCD instrument cluster. Lastly, for this specific truck it has a 7.3 L engine.

Tell old Henry the Ford logo on the steering wheel should act as the backing up knob. Agree. It's the best compromise unless you have a big family. Smaller back seat is for tools and gear you want out of the weather and for dogs too, ha ha. The shorter wheelbase is a lot easier to maneuver in the woods and in town like parking lots because of the reduced turning radius. And it looks like a 2 door!

Just goes to show you that people with your opinion dont really need a truck… get an SUV. If you need a truck, why would you get anything other than the 8 foot bed? Trucks have beds that are to be used for carrying stuff.. why would you not get the largest amount of that you could? If you dont need that much space…you dont need a truck. there build these for you pavement princesses that only go to the grocery store, never used in real life or on a farm. Configured like this, its just a SUV without the covered storage. You know you fancy pants button pockets jeans people….

I had the fold away step option on my F150 when they offered. I had to take them off as mud/dirt over time jams up the latches and gas strut easily and they were nothing but trouble. Its apparently a common problem hence they are moving away from it.

It's actually very helpful when he mentions his height - it provides context. Too many reviewers says "there's plenty of headroom" or " the deployable running board doesn't come down low enough" yet they're 5'8" tall...lol. Not a lot of headroom for anyone on the taller side! :-)

That’s a dang good looking truck, probably really close to the spec I’d order in a different paint color! I’ve always been a big fan of the SuperCab over the SuperCrew. I’ve owned a 1997, 2004, and now a 2021 F-150 SuperCab! My F-150 has that little secret compartment in the console, too. Does it serve that same purpose with the key fob? Mine has a key start, not push button. Great content as always, much love from Texas!

I guess I have a "weird" Super Duty as well. I ordered my 2021 F350 XLT 7.3l as an Extra Cab as well. I have had 2 F150 & a Ranger over the years in that config. It is an extreme rarity that anyone sits in the back seat of any of these I have owned in the last 20+ years. When they do it is usually only a short hop and its still very comfortable. My main motivation is that I can park it in the garage and I can park it in a normal grocery lot parking spot. I use it mostly for towing a travel trailer or boat. The shorter wheel base is a big asset it getting into tight places. I'll order the next one the same way.

I drive one handed and Center console shifter lets me rest my hand and easier to shift forward and reverse for plowing and what not. More pockets for storage equals more junk that jumps around when offroading.

That’s how the super cab raptor comes. With the shorter bed. That’s what I have and I completely agree it makes the truck look so much better and proportional. It also greatly decreases the turning radius making it much easier to park and maneuver in tight spaces.

@@ELTACHY1 The SD has always been available as a supercab shortbed as well as a long bed. You just can't get a single cab shortbed like you can the F150. I have a supercab longbed F350. Best looking truck ever made IMO

Tailgate step is still very useful if you have maybe a larger/heavier item you might need to place on the tailgate and need to keep a hand on it to stabilize it while you climb in to the bed.

2nd weirdest truck😂. I have an identical one, except in iconic silver with the winch being delivered at the end of the month. I probably won’t go back to a diesel with all the exhaust issues. Also, I’ve kinda gotten used to a shorter truck with my F-150, so the super-cab was the best option. I only use my back seat for storage, so the smaller cab for the longer bed of the Superduty was a great trade off. Thanks for the video! It helps to see exactly what you have ordered, helps with the anxiety of not being sure if you ordered the perfect truck. After your video I definitely did. Love your channel!

My 22 F250 Column shifter is what I prefer. Front bed steps are a plus, rear not so much. But the grab handles are cool. I wish my 23 Explorer ST had a console T handle instead of the dial. There are too many dials. Old school! Thanks for the video. Maybe throttle it back to 90 instead of a 110! ❤

I like the side step at the front of the bed. I like how it matches the window shape ford does. I think it looks more appropriate on an 8ft bed though where the lines are much longer. Maybe they will make a flip up one, one day. But i bet by then people will think it’s corny

I like the column shifter. That’s one thing I absolutely hate about my new f150 is the center console shifter. I’d rather have the column or even a dial just to get the storage space in the center console. I also wish the cup holders were one on driver side one on passenger and not both on passenger side.

The colom shifter is the best. It allowes the use of the center console for much more important functions. One of the best things is the volume knob for the radio. Sometimes old school is BEST! I have the Gas engine as well, love it!

2021 F250- I like the mid bed step for 5th wheel access and the bumper steps. I have to go after market AMP $309 per step and rip replace the bumper. Likely $2,000+😂

I worked at one of my local ford dealerships in southern saskatchewan canada over the past 3 summers, and this past summer we had a guy come in and order an f-350 non dually, 4x4, king ranch, super cab, 8 foot box, with the high output 6.7 in star white metallic tri-coat. And every single one of us their agreed that we had never ever seen a weirder configuration in a truck period

I miss that configuration honestly. I seldom ever have anyone in the back, but do like a little more storage in cab. Shifter on the column all day. Makes maneuvering the truck around a worksite easier one handed. I could do without the side step as long as I had an extended running bars. But if it folded up like you suggest that would be a plus.

I ordered a similarly weird Super Duty; about to take delivery (no kids and few friends - no need for a back seat). HO Deisel / no sport package (it reduced payload). Looking forward to the best-in-class features; including the gear shifter on the column (more room for stuff in the center console). Thank you for the videos; helped a lot with the ordering process and now the hidden features in the vehicle.

the SD that came out in 2017 got its mid-cycle refresh in 2019, this 2023 had a completely different interior, and better tech, its a new generation not a mid-cycle refresh.

The bed steps are good. Better then nothing even being high. Also the tailgate step is better all around. Especially with a truck cap on the bed. And the new tailgate step is 3in lower making it much easier to use and will work with the truck cap on it.

I converted my 2018 Super Duty to a console shifter using a F150 shifter and cable. So much more comfortable and easy to use going from D to R and back. Also, the +/- buttons are right there at my thumb. No need to keep reaching up to the column to change gears. I also installed the F150 Raptor steering wheel so I have the paddle shifters as well. Oh, and my truck is an extended cab too. They ain't weird!

I removed the bed side step from my truck. Too many curious people and their belt buckles scratched the side. This was only on the dealer Lot 1 day. The dealer had it repaired.

Cab length in the SuperCab is 10 inches shorter than the SuperCrew; those missing inches are in, and affect backseat leg room. It is a shame he does not show the window sticker for this truck.

Curious why you prefer a key? I'm replacing a work truck and see the push button start is Lariat trim and higher. If I was taller I'd buy the XL with a push button start and vinyl seats but the driver's seat is too low and can't be adjusted higher.

As long as it actually shifts into drive and is not broken in the shop are the only things I can ask for. That being said I have a 17 250 6.7. Great truck man I’m probably going to be holding onto it for quite a while because I honestly don’t like the redesigned super duty I like the way my 17 looks. I still even like the 2008-2016 models more. But that’s just going based off of looks.

Two comments on the new Ford "built in steps" to access the pickup box. 1. The Built-In Steps do not function as well as the Ford Accessory Retractable Steps or the AMP Research Flip Down Steps. 2. Ford most likely did not add this to the pickup box and rear bumper to "give the consumer something extra". Ford made this change to reduce production cost......ABS / Polymers replace (displace) the aluminum (pickup bed panel) and steel (rear bumper) cost less.

The funny thing is that newer Fords are looking a lot more like old Chevy Silverados with the split headlights and grill with the chrome accents of the more luxurious models and newer Chevys are looking a lot more like old Fords with the massive grill and a single big headlight on each side.

A real physical interlock for the function of the vehicle, 100%. The dials and buttons make as much sense to me as integrating a touch sensor into a guns trigger, need that physical feedback and force behind your decisions.

I have a crew cab truck. I think people have sat in the back seat twice.. in the last 15 years. The extended cab looks great IMO. If that truck had an 8 foot box (and wasn't 70 grand) I'd buy it.

“Oh, that was my knee!” Words that I don’t want to hear in today’s overly expensive, massively-sized new vehicles. I would not spend all that money only to have space concerns in a full-size truck. As for the shifter, I consider any full-size truck or SUV incomplete unless it has a COLUMN shifter. Millions of happy column-shifter truck customers can’t be wrong! Push buttons (Chevy Suburban), Knobs (Ram Trucks), and Console shifters are terrible in a full-size truck or SUV! Manufacturers are you listening?!

in 2020 i went from super cab to crew cab, just to get the tremor. I much prefferd the smaller cab. Im finding I places I have to make 3 and 5 point turns where I could make a u turn with my super cab. All the back seat gets used for is dogs and a few things llike a duffel bag . I seldom need it to transport people. Over all Il like this truck ,but it needs bigger tires . really like the tires my Tremor came with. I dont hate my crew cab, but i will never by another one. Just dont need that big cab.

I think the center shifter is just a waste of space in modern vehicles that are automatic. In my F150 I would much rather have some extra storage space on the center console and have the shifter moved to a knob on the dash or a stick.

If that step behind the cab would flip up to look like its supposed to if no step was even there..in other words it be a option flip up look like part of the bed corner then if ya flip down you've got ur step!! That would actually be pretty sweet set up its a shame they 🤔 took the easy route hmm

you are 100% incorrect about it being a mid-cycle refresh. The super-duty had its refresh in 2020. It may not be a new frame, but it is an all-new model. Everything is different down to the cab architecture itself.

“Looks like a competitor’s step?” That’s because it’s a carbon copy of the GM twins’ bumper step, as is the side step… I don’t blame Ford, because they’re basically necessary, but there definitely a direct copy of GM’s truck steps.

I just specked out this exact truck the other day. No need for a crew cab. If ford make a lariat reg cab with a flow through console I would buy one for sure. So tired of these companies forcing people to get trucks they do not want just to get a luxury interior....
