In today's video, I will be discussing the hiveminds of A Song of Ice and Fire and how I think they might be closer to our world than we may think!

I was thinking about weirwoods being some kind of fungus-like organism these days and your video just popped up, great video

Ooh, I have a pretty wacky theory about everything you mentioned here. So Garth the Green is said to have planted Weirwoods in Westeros, but it doesn't make sense that the ASOIAF equivalent of a fertility god would plant trees that drain the life force of everything around them, but it WOULD make sense if they planted magical trees that gave you visions and prophecy. The Evening trees are the exact opposites to Weirwoods, black and blue, but they do have magical properties and give visions and prophecies. My theory is that Weirwoods are Eveningtrees, brought along by either a physical historical figure like Garth the Green or whoever he represents in legend, or by a migration of people that collectively became the legends of Garth the Green. They planted these trees on purpose or by accident bringing in stuff with the spores (or seeds) already in them and they just took to the ground and spread, then again, either by accident or on purpose, blood magic was done either around the trees or directly using them, and this blood magic "corrupted" the hivemind. Another point for this is that when Dany finds the true undying ones, they are ancient and withered and confined to a little cave like room where they live forever, kind of exactly how the cave Bran enters is, with Bloodraven and the other children growing into the roots, living potentially forever while they wither away in a cave. So now we have 2 hiveminds, the smaller hivemind of the Eveningtrees in Essos, and, separated by an ocean, a hivemind of corrupted Eveningtrees, this corruption led to the color changing, and really you only have to corrupt one to corrupt them all, since they are all connected, Eveningtrees in Essos not being affected due to them being on another continent, thus, not connected to Westeros. The now corrupted Eveningtrees were given the name Weirwoods, religions developed around them and their powers, the visions and prophecies are stronger from weirwoods both due to blood magic and also it's a bigger organism by this point. More blood magic continued to shape them and make them stronger (carving the faces in them, for example). The magic just evolved naturally over time, from simple prophecy to what is now the greenseers, due to the way it absorbs life around it, for example the children of the forest, who I suspect were the first Wargs, used the trees to grow stronger and the trees in turn now have warging magic tied to them, allowing them to be warged, and that's how we get greenseers, who now pass off those powers to their bloodline. Finally, ghost grass, which is very similar to Weirwoods, thematically at least, tall and white and drains the life force of everything around it. Now, of course it's a reach, but, what if ghost grass is just more weirwoods? The Dothraki don't have a word for everything, when we meet them we are told this, Dany asks what their word for "thank you" or "sorry" or something like that is, and she's told the Dothraki don't have a word for it because it's not in their culture. So, they live in grasslands, how often are they encountering trees? Enough to need a word for them? It's possible, I guess, but also unlikely. Also important to note that parts of Essos, like Braavos, don't have trees either. So to them, maybe these white tall trees (possible leafless due to either age or not having enough blood sacrifices) could just be tall grass that kills everything around it, and now we have a prophecy of ghost grass taking over the world and killing it.

This is the most interesting take on this theory I've seen yet. Subscribed!

Perhaps a symbiotic fungi grows among the weir woods. But they are too big and tree-like to be fungi. They would need much more “food”

You could be wrong. How it looks and how big it grows is irrelavent as we don't know how strong gravity is and composition of chemicals in air, water and ground. And there is magic in the story. It's like claiming dinosaurs are made up because today we don't have the same ratio of atoms in the atmosphere at it isn't possible for a animal to ve that big.

I think long night is a cosmic event where a twin planet comes in between sun and main planet. Meteors are a sign of it coming. Magic gets stronger as "winter is coming" as it could be affected by twins planet EM force. Dragon myth of them coming from a cracking moon could be twin planet hitting a moon or two moons colliding. Fire would fall down on main planet. It could also explain strange seasons. Soo we can't know how big they can become as we don't know what forces they are affected by. G.R.R.M said the story is from a point of view of characters soo maybe just like we had Zeus throwing lightning or the flood, they make up stories to that are based in fact but are mostly 5000 year old guess work based on 10th century scientific process. Braking of the arm could also be a meteor thrown in myth of struggle.

The only thing I think is BS in this theory is the idea that Bran becomes King of Westeros. That's giving Benioff and Weiss too much credit. There's no way the great lords of Westeros is going to vote for a 9-year-old child, especially one who can spy on them at any time! Besides, the books seems to be building up Jon Snow as the future King of Westeros. George R.R. Martin is critical of Aragorn becoming king in LotR, but that's not because he became king. It's because it's just assumed that because he's a good soldier he'll make a great king. With Jon Snow he's making sure we know that he's a capable leader. First he's a bastard in Winterfell. Then he joins the Night's Watch and is made the Lord Commander's personal steward. Then the Lord Commander grooms him for command. Then he's made Lord Commander. My prediction for the future is that in Winds he's going to become regent for Rickon (not King of the North) and later, after his parentage is revealed, he'll become King of the Seven Kingdoms and lead the armies of Westeros against the Army of the Dead.

Oooohhh... So glad you just popped up on my youtube! Really enjoyed the video (only thing I disagree with is Bran becoming King). Can't wait to watch more of what you've got. Much appreciated 💕

I think the weirwoods are fungus but from another planet. I think the Gods Eye is where it landed, the lake could be the impact crater and this would explain why it seems to be a center of power for the weirwoods.

Better then the majority of art that talentless internet "artists" put out (especially those degenerate Twitter artists)

@@RKB-2001 still. The author decides what images to use. IMHO (as a non artist) most of AI images reminding me how Supermarket pancakes are different from your grandma's pancakes, or adult videos compared to real life relationships. First are better looking (for the first time) but you definitely can say it's fake. In the first examples you won't feel hard work and dedication, so they are considered as cheap. Same with music.
