The Welcome - United Nations Free & Equal 

Real men live and let others live too. As a desi homosexual myself, i must salute UN for taking such a bold initiative and here's to hoping that one day this will not just be a bold video but a reality for many.

When I was small, in our neighborhood there were two didi's, both in their forties staying together in a rented apartment. It was 1980s, words like gay, lesbians never even existed in Indian dictionary... And so people just commented why they do not get married, or that they are so good friends!!! As a child I always felt that when people say this and they agree, there is a pain, there is more to them than just being good friends. The way they cared for each other, almost smelled like love. Now I know what it was and why it was not possible for them to admit the truth.... But they had courage to stay together, despite all odds. And as a child I remember them as very good didi's, because they always gave me toffees, or kheer to eat when I used to go to there house... I have no idea what happened to them... But I believe they were good human beings, and definitely not criminals. In their memory I share this video and hope that in India we support equality. All born on this earth should be treated equal. There should be no discrimination based on color, sex, species or sexual orientation... ;)

Its a very far fetched dream for an Indian gay man, but a hope is always comforting and seeing this gives me that hope.

I love the Indian people and culture. This is a wonderful advancement, and a beautiful video. Homophobia did not exist in India, really, until the Christians (the Brits, specifically) took control. They're gone for many years now. Let the homophobia go away, too.

The UN making and then distributing a video about two loving men coming out to family and friends! We should all welcome people into our hearts, regardless of who they are or whom they love - an especially important message in light of recent efforts in some countries to reinforce criminalization of same-sex relationships.
