god I love it when people do “lovecraftian” or incomprehensible horror, like is that a rock or a bag of worms

Just something about body horror games... like, no matter how callused to jump scares I become, I always still feel unsettled/uncomfortable with stuff like this. In a good way of course, if anything it's a compliment to the genre lol.

That protagonist coped pretty well, all things considered.

Why did no one listen to the cat? I'm sorry, but if my cat starts yowling and fussing at a well on a property that houses a potential eldritch horror? I'm leaving, my cat has better instincts than me and I have learned to listen to them.

Manly is such a Chad for picking the better font option.

Methinks nautical line, has knots in it every set distance for measuring speed. Not terrible for climbing, gives you a solid handhold.

I like how the distortion/filter is used. Like how Manly says "Is this rope feeding", only by being told or given a suggestion of what the objects are you can then see them as that. Then when the bizarre eldritch things so much, without a good hint as to what they are, that "what the heck am I looking at" moment really works to its advantage.

This creators art is so good, his body horror and overall vibe in each piece he creates is literally phenomenal

I love how the graphics leave so much to the imagination. The grotesque movement of the "things" fills me with dread...

_I guess the worm turned_ The original poem was short and sweet. Don't dig too far down, because what's down there is better left down there. It never elaborated on what was there, only that a farmer dug the well with a helper who went insane. The farmer bricked up the well before killing himself because... they dug too deep. Everyone thought that was ridiculous, so they took the bricks away, saw hand holds on the wall, realized the hole was too deep for any line to be dropped, and bricked it up. There was no cat with a satanic pendant, there was no pregnant goddess waiting to birth a horror into reality. I enjoyed the additional story. Hard to actually show a Lovecraftian being without some degree of disappointment, because seeing it is never as horrific as the idea of it. But very cool, nicely done.

Low res always benefits body horror and other Lovecraftian themes, as your mind has to guess what the true details are.

I've been hoping to see more Yames games soon.

Y’know, I don’t think anyone’s put it together yet; *The protagonist was In On It the whole time.* At 8:14, they mention they were from the College of Sciences (and probably also Divination), which would explain why they would want to learn about this apparent natural aberration. But that’s a minor detail compared to the conversation with the pastor at the end, wherein the latter talks in such a casual tone that probably wouldn’t befit consoling a guy who just watched a cat explode into worms *for the first time.* That and the offhand mention of dragging bodies warranted a bit of suspicion.

I'm down for anything made by Yames. The man can do no wrong when it comes to horror as far as I'm concerned. Yames is probably the most exciting indie horror developer active right now, his visions are consistently and excitingly nightmarish every time. The body horror work he does is incredible and its frequent fusions with cosmic horror really make for some massively unnerving stuff. I want to see he and KittyHorrorShow collaborate, whenever she comes back to bless us with another grotesque menagerie.

I loved it, the dev is so far, the only one who knows how to make a lovacraftian game. Usually, these games are simple TPS that focus more on the story than the atmosphere and the visuals are pretty classic. This game however, instead of focusing on the storytelling, it focuses on the visuals and the essence of lovecraftian and cosmic horror, which is the unknown being so out of this world thar your brain cannot comprehend it anyways, it's really nice to see, clearly the dev is a big fan of this type of horror

I have to try really hard to not to try to understand what is going on in this game since it is Lovecraftian 😵

EDIT: Oh no. poor Jingle :( every time i see a horror game with a cat in it, i feel this terrible anxiety because i'm so afraid something bad will happen to the cat. i'm like haflway through the video right now and the terror is growing ohgod ohgod can someone just spoil if the cat will be ok my heart can't take this

Short but so effective. Lovecraftian body horror, when it's done right then it's amazing. I feel Yames did a spectacular job here, just the right level of unusual as it builds towards an unknowable madness.

Oh god I've been on the edge of my seat waiting for the next Yames game. And this one even has a new style! I wonder what kind of psycho-mushroom fish-god type stuff we're getting into this time.

Yeesh the little statue at 10:00 creeped me out. This was an excellent depiction of Lovecraftian horror, and really captures that unnerving feeling of the bizarre...

I love that Manly just somehow finds all these strange games to play.

Looks like a number of people are confused at why the graphics and story are so vague. It's the whole point, the horror comes from being confused, and letting your mind wonder about how disturbing what you're seeing might actually be. Rather than giving you a definitive answer on what it is, which makes it easier to rationalize and move on. Every possible thing it could be, can be disturbing for different reasons, and you'll never know for sure what's true about any of it. It just simply is, and you can't comprehend it. It's good Lovecraftian horror.

What a strange game. A cool one though! Short and sweet. The extreme filter made the fine details hard to see, adding to the tension, but it wasn't overly filtered to the point where you saw nothing. I feel bad for that kitty. Poor Mr. Jingles...

In the 8 years of watching this channel, I've never been this early. Nor has Senpai ever noticed me.

It just hits me like a ton of bricks, looking closely at uh. Well, the *thing* that's pulled out after Jingle comes back. ... ... its a skinned cat and the thing was literally just wearing Jingle's fur that it ripped off of the poor cat. The squirmy moving you can peep through "Jingle"'s mouth IS the wormslugthing... (No seriously, look at its limbs. they're muscles and BONES and the thing is smoothed out and the head is the garbled corrupted mess. The MC starts off looking at Jingle's body from the side, and then turns it around so the body's back is to the MC.)

Yeesh this game gave me the creeps lol it's something about games styled like this that makes me feel so unsettled. The game having this type of graphics benefit a story like this imo cuz it can both distort whatever the image is supposed to be and at the same time it's hard to tell what exactly you're looking at. A short story like this where you got not lots of detail and background but get thrown into this unsettling slow paced atmosphere leaves the MOST impression to me, I loved it!

I was thinking the story setup sounded familiar and at the end it was like Oh, right. I've read that poem. Pretty well executed game.

This was such a great little experience even without having seen the whole thing thus far. Seriously the tension of the rope, no pun intended, is so freaking awesome.

I don't know if it's just my dumb brain but I couldn't make out anything in any of the images. for me it crossed the line from low-tech horror to completely incomprehensible graphics. manly was like 'the cats back' and I was like 'what where??'

This creator has been my favorite ever since Discover My Body Maybe thing will change if Airdorf releases some new MORTIS materials like Faith 3

It's games like this the ones convincing me that videogames are becoming the new platform to convey histories. You have narrative, imagery, music, sounds, tone and interactivity all colliding in harmony. As a writer (as good of one I may praise myself to be), it kind of make me feel archaic.
