so lil story,,my whole family are morris dancers and we go to folk festivals every year. Great version ;) Fun fact: This is a sea ballad from New Zealand from c. 1860-70. The song refers to the "wellermen", being the supply ships owned by the Weller brothers, who were amongst the earliest European settlers of Otago (South Island, New Zealand). Very cool!!! It's neat to see the origins of such a fun song. It has a personal place in our hearts now too... it was my father's ringtone, and he passed in April. The tenacity and adherence to a code of honor fit my father to perfection, and he absolutely loved it. I'd be sitting in the room with him and he would call me just to hear my phone ring. Malinda has been helping me a lot. I can't get into my therapist for a month and my mental health is falling apart. It is destroying me from the inside out. Something that happens almost daily is that I get a panic attack and I get overwhelmingly stressed from everything I or anyone else does. Malinda a music always calms me down almost instantly and helps my when I'm thinking about doing the worst. Thank you Malinda for helping keep my feet on this earth.

I find that watching kitten cams helps me to relax. It is funny how watching sleeping kittens, (and they do sleep a LOT), can reduce my stress level so well! One cam I watched here on youtube is Club Smoosh, owned by Sarah Donner who like me has depression and she uses the cam to help with her own depression and her band (Kittens Slay Dragons), dragons being a nickname for depression helps to promote awareness. Well worth watching and there is chat with others who also have depression.

@@marykay8587 Centuries old would be an overstatement, a Wellerman would be a supply ship run by the Weller brothers, who's company was founded in 1831 and became one of the larger players in whaling and trade in New Zealand, however, by 1840 the whale population in the area was in a decline, and if I recall correctly, the company would go out of business at that time. Which means the story the song narrates would have to be set to that rather limited time frame. The song itself is apparently thought to be from the 1860s or 70s, though.
