The Battle of Shrewsbury was a battle fought on 21 July 1403, waged between an army led by the Lancastrian King Henry IV and a rebel army led by Henry "Harry Hotspur" Percy from Northumberland. The battle, the first in which English archers fought each other on English soil, reaffirmed the effectiveness of the longbow and ended the Percy challenge to King Henry IV of England.
Part of the fighting is believed to have taken place at what is now Battlefield, Shropshire, England, three miles (5 km) north of the centre of Shrewsbury. It is marked today by Battlefield Church and Battlefield Heritage Park.

Although he ruled for some time longer it was this battle that cost King Owain his throne and the Welsh people our freedom for a further 600+ years and counting. Nice one mate.

The archer's duel was intense. You should do more videos covering the English invasion of Wales and the subsequent unrest/rebellions. They are quite an interesting battle subject all on their own

At the end of the day, neither option would be pleasant...but the thought of being sliced open and hacked to pieces by the blade of a sword sounds so much worse than being shot up

Have you done the battle of pilleth during the glyndwr Welsh rebellion, it goes some thing like this glyndwr as army was on the hill side awaiting the English under Lord Mortimer to arrive, glyndwr split his forces into two and hidden them in a adjoining valley hidden by trees, when Mortimer arrived he had his archers,English and Welsh firing up hill trying to hit glyndwr s men but couldnt, on the other hand glyndwr s archers firing down had no problem hitting Mortimer infantry causing carnage, Mortimer gave the order to charge up hill at glyndwr s signal his men in the valley slammed into the English flank at the same time the Welsh archers at a pre arranged signal Promptly started firing into the English rear ,soon after Mortimer surrendered ,the Welsh women who was with glyndwr angered over their hideous treatment by the English butchered the dead, Mortimer was held for ransom But the king wouldn't pay,so Mortimer switched sides joined glyndwr and later married glyndwr s sister Unfortunately due to vastly superior numbers the rebellion of over 14years began to fizzle out king Henry the 5 Who was also Welsh offered pardons to the rebellion leaders so we're accepted but glyndwr refused it Glyndwr who was never betrayed disappeared never to be found, it's said like arthur in legend glyndwr would return when Wales was in trouble. Welsh history is not taught in British schools so not many know if him outside Wales but in Wales he his cherished as one of Wales greatest heroes,,,,,, not only was he a military leader who unified Wales and nearly threw out the English army but actuality the French invaded England He created the first Welsh parliament, planned to open two universities, and sent envoys to Rome Sought alliances with both the French and the Scots

Sorry , glyndwr was not at Shrewsbury he and his army was fighting in Carmarthenshire , although there were some Welsh there but it's not shown how many ,I suspect they were Welsh longbow men since the were among the best , even Edward the first acknowledged this , glyndwr and Mortimer both believed the battle was big error Being Welsh I have a passion for Welsh history and Welsh History I and know the history of glyndwr , had far more success than the overrated William Wallace made famous historically wrong brave heart
