"Previously on The West Wing." Those were the words which made me go silent on Wednesday nights, nobody dared call me, and I would be at transcendence for the next hour.
Tigerman1138 Me too! Even though I only found out about the show in 2013, every weekend I would watch it and all would know, not to talk to me until the episode was done. :)
I live in Netherlands, the show here was only popular among politics-lovers, so it never made it past it first season on a regular network. I had to download all episodes and put them on DVD's to watch all seasons. So I never had to put up with any crap about being disturbed while watching. My favourite sequence is with the Jimmy Smits-episodes, because as a European, you never get to see a campaign from te start. West Wing gave us that.
The West Wing is one of the greatest TV shows of all time. It really showed how despite both parties having their differences they respected each others opinions and could find common ground on issues, something that is almost lost in today's climate
@@bigollameo You know... it feels rather telling that you think political respect, nuance, and functioning government are somehow facets of "neoliberalism," whatever that means in this context.
Admittedly, I haven't seen every single episode of this series. What episodes I have watched clearly showed the Dems were the righteous ones and everyone else were giant morons. That's what put me off after a short while.
For God's sake no reboot of this. The Chipotle Kids could never pull it off. Heart, heritage, humor would be replaced with blatant agendas, political correctness, texting and likes and tweets and Xanax.

W.G. Snuffy Walden has been nominated for a dozen Emmys throughout his long and storied career. Yet I can't imagine any of themes or scores being more worthy of a win than this one. His only win. For a theme that's truly American.
Tigerman1138 I totally agreed it!! I love her especially when she singing the jackal from Ronny Jordan. That was an awesome part of an awesome episode.
No, we didn't. The establishment of both parties played us. Democracy and reason died. Biden just got rid of the reduced prices for insulin and epi-pens and he got rid of the environmentally friendly xl pipeline and over 10,000 jobs were lost. It's time for a third party to break the 2 party stranglehold on our country.
Just watched the "reunion" show (staged re-enactment of the Hartsfield's Landing episode) on HBOMax and was treated to an acoustic string version of the theme led by Snuffy himself on guitar. Had to come here to re-listen to the original. Both versions are simply beautiful.
Easily one of the greatest TV series of all time. Aaron Sorkin's writing is poignant, moving and powerful. I'm nearly to the end of the series on Netflix, and I've never been more on the edge of my seat or excited for the outcome of a TV series. I usually am able to pick out what may happen, but I was unable to know who would win the election to succeed President Bartlet.
It’s crazy to think how this show was once one of the shows that EVERYONE talked about the next morning, when I was a kid. And someday, shows like Greys Anatomy, Stranger Things…they’ll go by the wayside too. And new generations of tv watchers won’t even be able to comprehend just how popular a show was. Kinda bittersweet
not true people are studying and talking about tv history all the time lol new generations are great at comprehending past cultural trends, maybe you're just bad at it
My favorite TV show of all time. What I want to know is why I had to sit through an unskippable Justin Bieber ad before the actual clip started. That's an affront to everything good!
It's 9:56 eastern time on November 6th, and I can say that Joe Biden will (probably if Trump doesn't resign to let Pence pardon him) be the 46th president of the United States
I used to be the edior of my college newspaper back then and, anybody who knew me in those days would tell you I took the gig VERY SERIOUSLY. But, my contrubutions to the production of the paper - and ths, the production of the paper - would stop for an hour every week as soon as the words, “previously on The West Wing” were heard. Peole were allowed in office to watch it, if they wanted, as long as they didn’t speak.
Help. Does anyone know what model the helicopter is at 0:36 ? It has some specific features that have made it hard for me to identify, specifically the fixed (non-retractable) main gear with two wheels on each side of the main gear. The main gear is in the front with a single third wheel at the tail. Single rotor. I have searched extensively with no joy. Thanks.
"Up where they walk! Up where they run! Up where they stay all day in the sun! Wandering free! Wish I could be! Part of that world!" Yeah ... I'm not hearing any similarities between the two. They sound awfully different to me.
I like Jerrold Immel's version of this theme as it plays over the majesty of U.S. western outdoor scenery rather than the pomposity of D.C. eastern indoor scenery... see the opening credits to the TV series "HOW THE WEST WAS WON". Inspiring!
I never figured out why there's a shot of an A-6 intruder taking off between Allison Janney Janel Moloney. All the other shots actually happened in the series, while the A-6 never made an appearance. My best guess is that it was an aborted storyline in Season One, but can anyone definitively answer?
