Sorry posted that last comment before I was finished. In my researching, I came across your RU-vid page. What you are sharing all makes sense to me, so I am giving your suggestions a try. I have been intermittent fasting and working on adding anti inflammatory foods and eliminating the inflammatory ones. I started taking fish oil. Eating more probiotics. I have even embraced drinking my coffee black, which I never thought I would do. I am only on day 6 and I feel amazing! My energy is back! The hurting all over is subsiding. My mind feels less fuzzy. I am encouraged by all of the changes that I am feeling and seeing in myself in such a short amount of time. I am now a believer in what and when i eat is the medicine I need to stay healthy and feel better! Hearing the information from you because you are a health professional added weight, but even greater is the fact that you are doing it for your own self because you have experienced what I am experiencing! No one tells you what to really do about all these tremendous changes that goes on in our bodies when we begin the process of menopause. I am so thankful that I found your channel and even more thankful that I am following your advice!

Love this. One thing i disagree with is the high quality protein is not only fish. The current red meat studied are based on grocery store factory farmed beef. Eating an unhealthy animal that is given hormones is inflammatory. . However; if you eat a local ,healthy grass fed animal, the inflammatory bad fats are no longer there. (I am educated in this.) I agree that fatty fish and oysters are a superior protein, but not everyonecan afford that everyday. You were led by the science and in a different direction than you were taught.. theres more. I think you and Dr. Kruse(neurosurgeon)would do wonderful things. You both were doctors , who noticed the missing link and ran with it. Heros in my eyes.

I just heard about this diet yesterday 6th Jan 2024 when it came up on Diary of a CEO recommended for you. Now I'm intrigued and watching everything I can about it. I plan on starting it as soon as I can find a video with the meal plans on it. I'm a 55 yr old post menopausal woman in Melbourne Australia. My starting weight is 78.5kg I'm 167cm tall medium build. I'll let you know how I'm progressing 😊

Hi there Dr. Haver! I just wanted to give you a shout out and a sincere thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge. I am 48 yrs old and deep into peri menopause. I had gained a significant amount of weight and was feeling quite poorly health wise. I started making some changes about a year or so ago by cutting back on what I was eating and exercising. I had asked my primary doctor about the keto diet and she said absolutely not to do it. But I do have a problem with carbs and I just feel like I needed to do something about what I feel is an addiction to them. So I did. Gave up sugar. Gave up the sugar substitutes except stevia. Gave up my diet soda. I did lose weight. About 67 lbs. so far. But I still felt so tired and sluggish with no energy. My whole body hurt. I have been researching about inflammation in the body because of the autoimmune disorders in my family and because I suffer from a lot of arthritis. It is of concern to me at my age to be as healthy as I can be, feel good, and be able to do the things that I enjoy.

I am so happy to hear your enthusiasm about women's health care during and after menopause and your scientific approach. I am 60 yrs of age, not over weight but have issues with inflammation, arthritis, bone loss, fatigue and many digestive issues. I think I am doing the right diet and exercise many times a week, yoga, swimming and walking in the woods. Is your diet mostly for weight loss or is there a possibility for help with my above issues? Thanks for doing what you do!!!

We can definitely help with that. We have a "maintenance" program with the same scientific principles.

This is what I’m experiencing. I’ve been able to diet (keto usually) and exercise and lose lots of fat, but now that I’m 39 and have recently become aware of some peri-menopausal symptoms (like when did it get so hot in here? 😅), not to mention I had a baby at 37, so my hormones still have not levelled out. I’ve been trying everything I’ve used in the past to get back to a healthy weight, and it only took me half way, and now nothing is working. I found out about your book, and you, yesterday and I’m confident this will be what gets me back to pre-pregnancy health. Thank you!

I am in the same boat! Had a baby at 36, now I'm 38, and nothing is working. I tried all my go tos to get inshape and after months nothing changed. I'm hoping reading her book and working on getting my hormones leveled I'll get there. Good luck to you!

We do not base it on calories but we understand that most nutrition trackers require that. If yours does then we suggest starting with 1400-1500 calories as the target or if it asks you about weight loss choose the lowest amount per week. (so if you can choose between a pound an half a pound, choose half a pound) Then set the percentages but when you are eating during the day don't worry about the total calories if you are meeting the macros percentages. If you are under the calories or over by a little it really doesn't matter. The percentages should be your focus. We have a free online community where you can ask questions too. It is made of followers and many of them are also on the diet. Here is a link to join: bit.ly/3MlTkKM ~ XO Community Support Team

Inflammation and aging and menopause are the markers for when the whole calories in vs calories out becomes null and void. I want to explore that deeper and add on that a person with CPTSD pushes that timeline sooner than 7 - 10 years prior to menopause. Like maybe a decade sooner because of the chronic stress.....Maybe this change shows up in our telomeres? Thank you for what you are doing Doctor!

If we are loosing Estrogen and this is all caused by loss of estrogen then why doesn’t taking bio-identical estradiol with the protection of progesterone help? Taking Estrogen makes me gain weight. I was fine on a low dose BCPill. Now I am taking bio identical replacement hormones and this only worked at first.

What do you recommend for a appetite suppressant ?

What helped me was exercise, because it stabilizes insulin, proper hydration, avoiding sugar, waiting 4 to 5 hrs between meals without any sort of snacking in between (not even coffee or lemon water or whatever with a taste, just plain water). And I ask myself, am I hungry or do I eat bcs it’s breakfast time, lunch time etc. And I stop when I feel satiety. In my experience, the question to ask is Am I really hungry or I crave sth because I feel sad, anxious etc. in this case a walk and some fresh air is a much better fix. And the meals need to be sufficient in quantity and especially in proteins, because this offers satiety for at least, 4-5 hrs. If you feel hungry after 2 hrs, then you ate a small amount, not enough macros so you start the insulin carousel. In my experience, when I eat without being hungry first, I start craving food a lot more often. The more I eat the more cravings I got. The dr in nutrition that I follow confirmed this for me. When I space out my meals correctly, I get no increased appetite or cravings.
